Nice mix, but I have just one question. Although I know it doesn't matter too much, but you went from 2A to 4A to 6A then back to 2A then 4A and to 9A in the first 6 tracks. In a previous vid you did you said you could only go to either side e.g. 2A to either 3A or 1A, or move to the B key e.g. 2A to 2B. Suppose it depends on the type of genre??

Phil Harris Can you do a video mix of urban music (hip hop, House, r&b)?
@DJPhilHarris5 жыл бұрын
Well ideally you would stay in key or just go one or two BUT a two jump and even a three jump are ok. I generally try it use my ears. Also, always remember that your audience will never ever question this (ironically, I know you are questioning it, but that’s because you are a dj. Drunk guest wouldn’t even think twice about it) I would also argue that if you couldn’t see the keys, you wouldn’t question it either. P

Well as a KZbinr, I am always trying to work out what people like and don't like. Some people have said they like actually seeing me having a dance, some people don't like it. As a DJ my motto has always been "let the music do the talking" so perhaps from this point on, no more dancing.

Phil Harris To be honest we all do some crazy and weird dancing so who cares. And your music is fire so I‘m not even in the position to criticize you.

Great too see how your basic course covers how simple this is, already managed a good playlist creation and BM transition set in about a week. Also like the way you only have the 2 hot-cues for the start and finish for track movement.. *takes note*

Thank you for this demo DJ video. I have purchased all 3 beginners courses and I have just finished the 1st beginners part. Parts 2 and 3 I will keep for a while until later. First I have to practice a lot with my new Denon DJ deck and apply what I learned from the lessons of what I learned from the first part the beginners course and it seems that I can still use a lot of practice for part 2 and 3 can go further. Maybe I still decide to review some parts again. That doesn't matter, because I enjoy it a lot and that is worth a lot. It has become a new hobby for me.

@terryvlog96955 жыл бұрын
@@wilq7458 really?? Are you a dj?
@wilq74585 жыл бұрын
terry Jay Yes. Even if i wasn't you don't need to be a dj to hear that most of his transitions sound bad. If u don't believe me that i know something about djing then i can tell u what he did bad. For example in this video in first transition he keeps playing melody of "light" on top of vocals of second song. In some cases it sound good but in this one it is horrible. So it's bad song selection or bad time for transition. I though that second one will be better and it would be if he only just cut out the firts song instead of eqing. The second song fits to the vibe of the first one but the vocals of the first one playing in the background only disturb instead of keeping the vibe of the first track. If you really want to learn how to DJ watch videos from crossfader, dj Carlo atentido or sountec, because those guys are good at it. If i made any grammar mistake then sorry but english is not my native language

Gonçalo Oliveira hey, in hindsight I kinda see what you mean. Perhaps the keys should have been identical. Perhaps it was a fraction out of time. Maybe I could have removed more frequencies. I actually really like the second half of the mix better than the first. It was the one slightly more complex mixes but it’s like I always say. Keep EVERYTHING as simple as possible! Had I just done a basically blend, it would have probably been better!

Phil Harris Hey Phil, I’ve seen this but wondering about your technique in this trap nation mix where you load in songs full volume and blend out the currently playing song. I really like this style as it seems like songs just go right into the next. I noticed the style you used here is different from the two beginner frequency mixing methods you showed in the beginner tutorial course wheee you slowly blend in the second song’s highs or lows across an extended period of time. Thanks!
@KhaPiano4 жыл бұрын
Load in “full volume” I meant “full normal frequency levels” for the 2nd song

Checked all your mixes and gotta ask... what’s the point of a 4-channel controller if you always only use 2?..
@DJPhilHarris5 жыл бұрын
I sometimes use three but 98% of the time it is 2. The reason I got them is for many other reasons than the 4 mixers.

No confidence and nervous and your playing on the fly rather than a well selected tracklist as the tracks are way off and clash and your rhythm is off too. EQs are maxing out so your headroom is at its limit 5mins in and your a typical digital Dj and only use intros and outros as your mixing point, hardly any beat on beat mixing and you cant count. Im a 1210 dj of 20yrs and i can see the flaws very bad. Maybe you should rewatch your set and see your mistakes. Remember music is from the heart and you can see when its not as easy as drink tea. In other words stop playing the controller and play music in the structure and timing and rhythm it was written

As someone who is a part of the "real" EDM scene not some pay to play trap youtube channel, these tracks would not go off in a live setting. It kind of seems like you were forcing yourself to enjoy most of these songs and I don't blame you. They were very mediocre.

Sorry, but for someone who asks money to learn others being a dj where are your hot cue's? Why aren't you using samples, where are the transitions to be honest if I would pay to learn this stuff I would feel being ripped off. 10 minutes the same genre is boring I'd rather would have liked to switch between trap and dubstep with some rap/hiphop in between. This looks more like a joke to me. Sorry, but I'm just honest!
@The_Top_Striker5 жыл бұрын
I bought the course and omg it’s amazing! This is only the basic mixing things he teaches. He teaches many other techniques and tips in there too! He has two other DJ courses aside from the beginner one. No hot cues just means he’s even more prepared with his mix because he know when and where to mix in and out. Phil is only using 0.00000000001 percent of his true power.
