Something (very important) is missing: Put a little sugar in the pan. Together with the onions. It will caramelize and the taste is incredible! Thank me later.
@Danasparkle4 жыл бұрын
not very important actually i don’t like the sweet taste to be clear so ...
@JustinLodes Жыл бұрын
To some people like me the sweetness adds to the taste of it. I’m a sugar lover so I like it with a small amount added in. Some people don’t. It’s all about preference
@jessemorgan9416 ай бұрын
Something not necessarily important but worth the effort: smoke your veggies low and slow halved and coated with olive oil, thinly slice, then toss into the pan after you cook the steak. It's an absolute game changer! I read your comment as I took them off. I'll be adding a bit of sugar next time.
@alexanderwingeskog7586 ай бұрын
The taste of unions caramelized with a wee bit of sugar is the way to go... Amazing difference! don't need a lot. In Sweden we do union (gravy) with bacon and a sprinkle of sugar on the unions is what makes the dish.

No one I know uses green bell peppers . The best cheese steak is at the White House in AC NJ they use Formica rolls . They’ve had plenty of movie stars eat their cheese steaks with pictures of them eating there . That bread is what makes any sandwich taste great , thats why all the sub shops around the shore area and inland too use AC rolls .

Look, I get that Gino's and Pat's won't use bell pepper (I personally like Pat's better), but that doesn't mean it is not a Philly cheesesteak. Funny enough, the best Philly cheesesteaks I have ever had HAD Caribbean Red hots and red bell pepper in them.....using New York strip instead of ribeye and white American cheese. Also, you can absolutely get bell pepper on a Philly IN Philly. Now, Chicago Deep Dish? Can only be had IN Chicago.....
@OldGuySings4 жыл бұрын
@@j8k3d18 I never meant that you couldn’t GET bell peppers in Philly. It’s just not normal. But, every place outside of Philly seems to put them on by default, which I dont get! I mean, you can put dead mice on your cheesesteak for all I care, but if you’re gonna represent the original, local classic OUTSIDE of Philly, start with the basic. Bread, steak, onions, and cheese. Anything else, sauce, peppers, crickets, candy, whatever, is an anomaly. 😆
