My great grandmother used to put aloe Vera in my scalp when she’d braid up my hair. I used to sit between her legs on the on the balcony in Costa Rica waiting patiently for my pretty hair style. I miss that lady so much.

Can someone explain the point of watching someone's routine and complaining to them that it's excessive even though they obviously love it and will continue to do it...? If you don't like or want to do something you could just like....... not do it? Lol. Everyone loves to say how they're entitled to have an opinion but that justification only goes so far. There's no point in being negative about something that isn't even affecting your life... but anyway thanks for the vid Whitney! Pre-pooing has been a life saver for me so I'm always open to any new tips and tricks

This aloe treatment was amazing!!! I'm from The Bahamas so I decided to grow some aloe in my backyard just to be able to do this all the time. The aloe completely transformed my hair even before I added the oil. My hair was super moisturized, my hair was jet black and my curls were popping. Nature really does give us everything we need. I def recommend this to all naturals!

I like to cut out the aloe jelly, blend it, and strain out the pulp. You can freeze the aloe gel in ice trays and use them when needed (thaw it out, put in an application bottle and use in hair... with out the aloe chunks getting stuck in your hair)... you can also save the pulp and use it for your facials. It applies a lot easier... and save in the fridge. Aloe is the best!

Ok so I've tried…🤔so many things I've seen on KZbin I lost count. I've only commented on results once in the past. So here goes my second…after watching this video I went out to the store for what I needed and began the process. I must say this has been the least greasy, and least messy prepoo I've ever done!!! By the time my hair was twisted in parts (which btw I loved using a comb to make straight parts) my hair already felt good, I had the least amount of shedding I've ever seen (my hair sheds like crazy, still don't know why). The next day me and my sister decided to spend the afternoon at a bath house that had a steam room. I packed up my hair products and spent the day chatting, laughing and deep conditioning with some serious steam. I washed my hair and was so happy with how it felt. My hair has been restored instantly. Never have I ever enjoyed the results the first go around without adding or taking away from the original (I did however use coconut oil because I only had light extra virgin olive oil in house) thank you thank you for sharing your hair experiences. If not for KZbin I would not be curly and loving it. 🤗

@Naptural857 жыл бұрын
Hey Jay Jay! I've been avoiding trapping "liquids" into my hair overnight lately. After everything that happened to my hair last year, I'm really trying to avoid irritating my scalp or water-logging my hair strands. I used to love deep conditioning or "plastic-capping" overnight, but the more I thought about it, the more I felt it left more of a chance for bacteria growth on the scalp, as well as water-logged hair, but that's just me and I don't have any proof of this. I just don't feel comfortable doing it anymore XoXo!! ❤️❤️
@JayJay-zr3kl7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for replying. Makes a lot of sense. I have loads of aloe plants where I live here in the Caribbean. I usually use aloe while deep conditioning on the scalp but I will definitely try it overnight as prepoo without the plastic cap and see how it goes. :)

During my journey on trying to simply get my hair to just GROW, I stumbled across your many amazing how-to videos! They are extraordinarily phenomenal!!! But, the one statement you made to encourage us newcomers during this journey was, in the beginning of creating our hair regimens, "simply focus on the processes until we get comfortable with everything, and the rest will come together." YOU WERE SO RIGHT!!! That comment was always in the back of my mind whenever I was pre-pooing, washing, deep conditioning, etc. Those wonderful words of advice truly helped me stick with it, and has helped me get this far in my hair journey. Okay so does it mean when you moisturise and twist your hair its a good thing when the twist become bone dry? Cause I notice my daughters hair eventually sucks up the product and her twists get dry and I have to open them each day and reapply moisture. But when I leave her hair open it stay moisturized for days. Should I keep it twist then? I thought when it stays moisturized its a good thing🤷♀️
@EtherealVibe5 жыл бұрын
@@wentzel812 do you mean dry as in it was wet/damp from products and now the hair has air dried so its dry? B/c that's normal. What twists are suppose to do is actually lock the moisture in. It absorbs all the products as its drying so when the twists are dry and you keep them in for a few days (however long it takes to dry or just as a style), once you take them out & say separate the twists her hair should *feel* moisturized. It could be the products you're using to twist her hair. The products that's work for her W&G may not respond the same when you twist her hair ...idk lol just a thought.

@Shrimp4592 жыл бұрын
@@wentzel812 did you spray her hair with water as well as using the Aloe Vera gel on her hair? Saturate real good. Did you use any oil with the Aloe Vera? Her hair should still receive the goodness of the Aloe Vera gel. I'm high porosity but my strands are fine so and my hair drys fast. It might feel like that if she has really thick hair. She should be fine just make sure you are using a moisturizing shampoo when washing her hair😊

Girl, I've been pre-pooing with conditioner for a couple of years now because of YOUR recommendation! It's changed my life and my detangling sitch. My hair is happy. I've also recently started using green tea as an anti-shedding treatment. It's only been three treatments, so far, and my shedding is reduced by at LEAST 60%. I've gone from losing about a mouse sized ball of hair per week to a WALNUT sized ball of hair. This is stunning. I'm not sure if I can add this labor intensive process to my routine, but lord knows, I trust your judgement more than just about anyone when it comes to hair care. You've earned it. Thanks!

I tried this last weekend. It is truely AMAZING !!! Instead of using the oils suggested I wanted to use up the Alikay's 7 oil blend I have along with my beloved hemp seed oil and fresh aloe from the balcony. I have seborrheic dermatitis the aloe worked wonders in my scalp. I also rubbed some of the gel on color treated ends. Thank you for introducing us to this and the young lady!
@AMYP66 жыл бұрын
If you have tighter curls I.e. 4c don't rub the aloe to hard because the meat of the aloe will rub out into your coils. It will be hard to wash out the meat of the aloe.

This pre poo looks so official. I can't wait to try. I've done hot oil treatments for pre poos in the past with coconut oil by itself, olive oil by itself, avocado oil by itself or on rare occasions, a mixture. Lately my hair's been telling me to do a little more than just one oil for a pre poo and now I know exactly what I'm going to try. Thanks!

My hair was perfect and longer than i could ever grow it before!! I strayed away during the first part of my 24th year watching other naturals and ended up getting thinned and damaged hair using heat and permannenr hair dyes! I am now back with a new big chop and i resorted to what i know/learned/learning from you once again and i am again making great progress!!! I just need help now of how to defeat dry undefined curls because my hair seems very dehydrated since cutting it.

I found this video way after your posting date. My hair is going through it's typical winter shedding . It's almost alarming how easily and often the long strands shed. I mean literally if i touch it later after oiling and removing the shed hair there is more!! It's not as noticeable when wraring curly, but in the winter I cannot keep soaking it to detangle at so I blow it out once every two weeks. I'm going to try this overnight method and pray for reduced shedding. Thanks for sharing

I tried this and it's AMAZING my hair soaked it all up and loved it my curls are poppin, I really suggest this especially because u don't use a lot and aloe is very cheap as it comes to hair products. A tip though, instead of stabbing the leaf I find you get more by scraping it because it doesn't get the chuncks you can get with puncturing it. I used two one inch slices and had plenty

I use EVOO, grape seed oil and castor oil when I do this. I also sit under a dryer for 20 minutes instead of sleeping in it (smells horrible). antaje407 yeah. I meant the leaf. They are $1.50 at my local stop and shop. (Someone did gift me the actual plant, but I have a black thumb, so it died quick). Her method took so long, and left me with little piece of white flesh from the left after shampooing 3x. Only way I got those pieces out was to blow dry it with a pick comb. Someone here suggested spooning out the whole aloe leaf, blend it, strain it, freeze what you don’t need. This was much better for me, no white pieces left and it only took like 5-10 mins to do.

This regimen has been a game changer for me!! I could never maintain shine on my 4C hair until now. The shine would last for a few days after washing. Now, my is so soft, bouncy and shiny. I usually purchase two very large leaves at my local supermarket for $0.99 each. I scoop out all the gel in each one, put in my cup blender, then strain twice it through cheese cloth or a very fine strainer into a skinny tip condiment bottle I bought for $0.50. The first time I tried it, I had pieces of pulp in my hair. It could not be washed out. I had to pick the pieces out. The straining step will save you a major headache. I add a little extra virgin olive oil and keep in the fridge. I have used it within 2 weeks and it was fine. You can add vitamin e to prolong it some. I use it a lot, so it doesn't usually last long for very long. It will turn a shade of pink maybe a week later, don't be alarmed it's just nature do it's thing. I keep the pulp (no oil) for quick facials and superficial burns. I use it every week. In my opinion, it works even better than the aloe vera juice.

May I take a moment here to pay homage to the beautifully amazing woman in this video!? My friend, you are simply AMAZING for sharing such wonderful, beneficial vlogs on how we, too, can grow our natural hair!!! When I tell you I was at my wits end on how to get my hair to simply GROW last August, after years of trying to get it to JUST grow... I WAS AT MY WITS END! My body had changed so much over the past few years, so I assumed my hair was no exception. Breakage, shedding, stunted growth, you name it, I experienced it. Then last August, I stumbled across this video of yours, and then followed your superb DIY African Black Soap Shampoo video, the DIY Mango Butter, the oil medleys and as of late, the Tea Rinse to stop sudden shedding. I truly, truly believe that by pre-pooing with natural, actual AVL's, my hair is growing at a rate that it NEVER grew even before my body started falling apart! I AM ECSTATIC just to know that I wasn't balding after all! THANK YOU FROM THE DEPTHS OF MY SOUL for taking the time to create and share such wonderfully informative, step-by-step, all-inclusive, inviting and engaging "documentaries!" You are THE Boss!!! Thank you!

Love the idea of rubbing fresh aloe on my scalp as part of my pre-poo. I have to say though the oils aren't enough for my 4c hair. What does work is 3 parts ghee with 1 part coconut oil + a generous amount of lavender and rosemary essential oils. Like you I have problems with coconut oil. I can only use so much of it without my hair becoming stiff and easily tangled.. But the ghee is so moisturizing and penetrating that when mixed with the added penetrating power of the coconut oil, my hair just has to admit defeat. When I use this oil combo as my pre-poo, I don't have to worry about breakage, my hair is softer and less likely to tangle. This is just a suggestion for any other 4c's out there that need a little more help with getting their hair soft and manageable.
