A small note I want to add You can meld level 3 skills if that skill maxes out at a higher level. WEX maxes at 3, so you can only get level 2 at most - If the skill maxes at 5 or 7, then the highest you can meld is level 3 (Depending on the skill in question). There was just a couple examples of low grade skills that can max at like 3/3, but since they're way more common and less important, I didn't spend time on those This video was difficult to make just because the wording can be so confusing, hope this helps

Actually the equation for a probability like that is that (1-p)^t is the chance it *doesn’t* happen, where p is the probability and t is the number of tries. I calculated this assuming 7 billion humans. If each human had 1 chance, we would have a 1.78% probability of getting a talisman like that. Even if each human had 100 chances, we would still only have a 83.4% chance of getting a “perfect” talisman.

E(x) = p(x) * n E(x) = expected value: the number of talismans p(x) = probability of the event: 1 in 390 billion n = number of trials, they said 49 tries for each of the 8 billion people on earth. So 49 * 8 billion which is about 390 billion E(x) = 1/390 billion * 390 billion = 1 So you would expect 1 talisman to be obtained over all the trials. it's like saying that if you flip a coin 100 times, you would expect 50 heads. you can just multiply the probability by the number of trails to get the expected value.

Getting the specific skills you want on a talisman sucks... but as long as you get those slots you're probably going to be able to make a 95% functional build whereas missing decorations could keep you from getting close to having a mostly functional build. Personally I'd rather the monster part drops be the only source of RNG. I don't see why both talismans and decos can't both be crafted. I know we're dealing with what we've been given, but maybe if the fans stop treating it as an either/or scenario and started asking the devs why we can't just craft both, they might take that feedback into account with future games.

@@anubis243-x5h Perfect build farming is the MH endgame though. They aren't going to get rid of that. If you could just craft a perfect build within the first week of playing, the multiplayer would drop off substantially before the first content update could even hit. Tons of people would make their builds then stop playing once the novelty wore off. They'd only ever do this if they found some new place to dump the rng permagrind. That said, they could make drop rates slightly more forgiving. 1/billion chance for the theoretically perfect talisman is obscene by any metric.

@@rainbowkrampus Or just make rare monster drops more rare so that the end game farm shifts from throwing a ton of random mats towards making a talisman to actually hunting and trying to get just enough of that one rare part. It wouldn't be an infinite endgame, then, but they don't need everyone to stay playing all the time. People already take breaks and come back for content releases. That wouldn't change if they had the endgame stuff they want. MH isn't an mmo, it doesn't need to maintain super high player numbers all the time.

At least with talismans I can make even mediocre ones work with my build and still be able to carry my own weight - when I'm gated by a few materials that simply won't drop, I can't even make my armor/weapon pieces that end up making or breaking my setups. You said it yourself, as long as you can get a decent talisman you can make a functional build. When you artificially extend its shelf life by simply nerfing drop rates and increasing the amount of time I have to spend fighting one particular monster because of bad RNG, that doesn't make anyone want to play the game more. I don't think the current talisman system is the best endgame, but it sure as hell sounds better than your alternative; which is effectively removing the endgame but increasing the grind right before it.

the best talisman i've melded thus far has been a 2 - 2 - 1 with Lvl1Quicksheath and Lvl2 Counterstrike. As a Longsword player, I can slot in the other two levels of Quicksheath, still make full use of the =15atk from Lvl2 Counterstrike with my Valstrax armour, and still fit in literally every other skill I need.

I think he talks about this in the video (I know he does in the pinned comment), but it is important to note you can get lv3 of skills below S/A rank even if the skill caps at 3 of 3. I got a talisman that has 2 B grade skills but rolled pretty well: Rapid Morph lv3, Flinch Free lv2, and 3 Deco1 slots. It's honestly got me tempted to make a Switch Axe or Charge Blade build, not gonna lie.

Bubbly Dance 3 effectively gives you 3 evade up and 1 Constitution, sooo... that's 4 for the price of 3. Combine with Rescusitate 3, which gives +20 attack, and depending on the weapon you could be looking at like 10-9 skills for the price of 6 (attack boost 5-6, evade 3, con 1)

Playing CB and currently my 2 best talismans are a no slot Artillery 2, and a single level 2 slot Rapid Morph 1 talisman. Equal value for set building, but good to know I shouldn't stress too much about getting massively better, given those skills are ranked highly. A Bludgeoner 3 with any level 2 slots would be great though. Goss Harag CB smacks people so hard!

Before I get into it, great job to everyone who worked to gather this information and great job to Ragegaming for all your wonderful content. Love you guys. That said I have an issue with the focus of the video in certain parts. So far, I find lvl 3 slots pointless because the lvl 3 decos are mostly useless. Earplugs is nice to have but ultimately unnecessary. Offensive Guard, Critical Draw, and Ammo Up are all easy enough to get on armor and if you want those skills then you have no issue choosing armor pieces that have those skills on them as they are core skills. Whoever on the dev team that put Mushroomancer as a 3 slot deco is just trolling the players. Even as a lvl 1 deco it would not likely find use. In fact, I think that kind of skill would have been interesting as a special Deco that can slot into Petalaces and have Petalaces have 1 single slot for random utility skills like Mushroomancer but I digress. The point is, when you give the odds on the BEST talisman you give a 3-1-1 slot talisman. But a 2-2-1 slot would actually be way better because more often than not your crunched on lvl 2 skills. So I am wondering what the odds are on a 2-2-1 2 maxed skill talisman as that would be the best. also the odds on a 2-2 two A or S skills would be useful. I know you said you can't get 3-2-1 on an A or S skill but If you can get a 2-2 CB and WE at rank 2 type talisman that alone would be god tier as far as im concerned. In fact that talisman vastly out performs 3-1-1 of the same skills unless you really need 3 1 slots in which case any 3 slot is interchangeable. Now they may add more lvl 3 decos and lvl 3 slots might actually become useful but for right now lvl 2 slots are king. What your giving us is the odds on the RAREST Talismans and what I would like to know are the odds on the BEST Talismans. If that data is not in yet, I understand, but as it stands right now rare does not equal best. At least as long as 2-2 is possible with A and S skills.

I actually got a level 2 weakness exploit with two levels of wall runner and a single 1deco slot talisman. Not perfect but I felt super lucky pulling that.

I just recently got a WEX lvl 2 with two 1slotted deco’s. Made my dmg GS build much easier. Got it from Rebirth.

Fun fact, Tobi kadachi waist has level 2 Mind's Eye. And the upside is that even in Rise he's still a pushover. And I ended up with a level 1 Mind's Eye deco after crafting. So basically I can run level 3 Mind's Eye if I want to.

I got a Rapid morph 3 + Free meal 1 with tier 1 & 2 slot.. A very happy day for a Switch axe user Edit: Holy crap I just got a Weakness exploit 2 & Poison attack 2!!! No slots but I literally jumped from my chair.. Sad part is that I now have a great charm for my switch axe but I also use the Narga SA which is poison..

The best I probably? got so far are a Wateratk3 + Handicraft1 + 1xLevel2 slot and 2xLevel1 slot. Or a Reloadup1 + Recoildown1+ same slots as my first (nothing special, I dont even play Ranged Weapons but still)

Glad to know the possible combinations and odds of talismans. One of my first talismans was 2 Partbreaker and 1 Recovery Up with a 1 slot. If I get any C-rank skill on a talisman, even if it is secondary to an S-rank skill, it is going in the pot with very few exceptions. I won't be shooting for the god talismans, but I won't settle for useless skills. Once the G-rank expansion comes out, I wonder if we will be able to fuse decorations like how Iceborne had decorations that were 2 skills or even 3 of the same skill?

Either deco farming or talisman farming. Can't say which system I liked better, on one hand ur given all the decos to create so long as u rng meld the parts for it but for talismans its even just as more rng to get that perfect arrangement of skills and slots. Of all the people who bought Rise and are running the gatcha, there has to be at least one confirmed hunter with a double crit and weakness exploit with a 3-1-1 slot.

my best 2 talismans so far are (evade ex 3 razor sharp 2) and (evade ex 3 item prolonger 1, a 2 slot and a 1 slot)

Afaik the 1st skill is capped like you said. Also some skills like bowcharge+ can't appear there. However there are no restrictions on the second skill. Which means something ridicoulous like a 3-1-1 2 WEX 7 Attack/crit eye could exist. The only skill which can have more than 3 ranks in the 1st slot is botanist with 4. I don't know if that is actually right as I don't have a talisman which proves the theory about the 2nd slot. However I do have one with botanist 4 in the 2nd slot so at least that is possible.

I like my Attack 3 with a lvl 2 and lvl 1 Freed up a lot Of room For my sets really. Excited for the future updates and added talisman combos assuming they make more melding options

Got a talisman with Lv 2 Speed Sharpening and Lv2 Stun Resistance with one Lv 2 slot. The skills aren't S-rank or anything but the utility of them is something I've fallen in love with. Very easy to max both skills out for instant sharpening and stun immunity

I don't even care if I get a WEX 2 charm. As a Switch Axe user, if I could get 3 Rapid Morph and 2 Evade Extender then that would be just as good. Best I have is Rapid Morph 3, Earplugs 2 with 1 or 2 lvl 1 slots.

Unpopular opinion, but I prefer the end game deco grind in base MHW than the talisman grind in rise.

A few days ago i got a charm with WEX 2 / Speed Sharpening 2 without slots ... its the only good charm i have, but i guess i cant complain, it's still an awesome charm.
