Peacemaker was the biggest surprise for me since I usually don't like comicbook tv shows. It actually managed to give depth to what were otherwise one note characters, added new memorable characters, and had the most anime-style opening I've ever seen a live action show do.

The Best: Better Call Saul - this is amazing level or writing, editing, cinematography, acting. The best team of screenwriters. These people just knew how to present their characters, how to develop story arcs, how to combine cinematography to elevate the story. I have no idea why fantasy shows don't get such great screenwriters. What's preventing them from this quality of writing? Certainly, money is not the problem. They pay millions for really subpar writing and editing - I mean, just look at HOTD episode 5 ending. Also, incredibly good: Arcane - though I have no idea about it, because i'm not a player. But I liked the story and characters immensely. The Worst (but I watched only one episode): Star Trek Picard. This was something I couldn't stand. Series hostile to it's viewers. I tried to approach this series twice and twice I failed. Have no idea why this exists. There is no point. The Worst that I didn't watch and I watched only reviews: The Witcher Blood Origin. As far as I know, it looks like bad GOT rip off combined with bad Xena princess warrior rip off. I mean, 20 years ago, all Polish reviewers and fans were slashing Polish Witcher series, in a similar manner that StarWars fandom eviscerated the prequels. Yes, the world of the Witcher was not recognizable. And the CGI was laughable. But I least they tried sort of to stick to source. Witcher Blood Origin is abomination that should be shelved like BloodMOon. This is for no one.

I think the difference is that Better Call Saul was largely driven by the creators. Peter Gould and Vince Gilligan had a lot of autonomy. Also, you’re really missing out on anything by not playing League of Legends.

@@OfficialRedTeamReview Arcane is insanely good. I'm amazed how people who liked the show DOWNPLAY it to a sense. Bro, if you wanted a Game of Thrones replacement. Arcane WILL be the show going forward. It's a triumph for game adaptations, a triumph for animation, and showcases what happens when you hire people who LOVE the source material. Although, League of Legends doesn't have much lore and they do retcon stuff within the game. The show can be enjoyed without knowing anything about the game. How do I know that? I haven't played League at all. Give it a watch whenever you can. You'll love the hell out of it.

Russian Doll becomes three times the season it was when Shine On You Crazy Diamond kicks in. The whole thing was about Nadia coming to terms with what her mother went through, and it’s exactly what the song was about. But yeah, Severance was a huge omission.

Yesss! My entire family got caught up in Yellowjackets, and someone regularly brings up what we're excited for next season. Random Yellowjackets anecdote: My sister and I were spitballing one day and said they should get Elijah Wood to play someone in season 2, because he feels like the right brand, plus he's already done really cool projects with most of the core cast. We were like, Is Melanie Lynskey somewhere pestering him on the phone right now?? When we saw the twitter announcement 2-3 months later that he actually joined the season 2 cast, WE NEVER FELT MORE POWERFUL IN OUR LIVES. Prior to this, the most any of us ever managed to manifest was my sister randomly saying she wanted to hear Ravel's Bolero, only for it to play on the tv a few minutes later. I mean, we were watching figure skating at the time, so that's not even really all that remarkable. So our success re: season 2 of Yellowjackets really feels like something special lol.

If you think about it, subscription services don't really have any incentive to promote the final season of any show. If people are sitting around waiting for that season and intending to unsubscribe once they're done then it makes sense they wouldn't want to advertise that it's done. They want us to stick around and pay for another month, or start watching another while waiting and ending up paying multiple more months. So shady but I get it.

I've been looking forward to this. 2022 was the last boom-year of all the new streaming platforms that started in 2019 trying to make their own flagship shows...some of which got delayed due to the 2020 pandemic, so they came out now. But NEXT year, 2023, we're going to see a production slump following the Netflix crash.

I think he just liked how overtly political it was this season. I was loving season 3, but thought it lost it's steam after the show down at herogasm and the finale dropped the ball. It felt like the character power levels were all over the place and everyone seemed to forgot how big of a threat Homelander was.

Carmine, I love you bro but that take on Better Call Saul was not it. Better Call Saul was a perfect show start to finish. You’re right in that Lalo was a great villain but for me I thought the second half of the season was much more interesting because I didn’t know where it was going. The first half was great but we all knew Lalo had to die at some point. That was an amazing final season to a series nevertheless

Lalo was such a compelling character that he did unbalance the last two seasons. But it was his murder of Howard which triggered the redemption of Jimmy and Kim so everything did ultimately cohere.

One of the best shows in 2022 imo is 1899 - it's by the people who made Dark and has a lot of mystery and an interesting range of diverse characters. Fantastic soundtrack too Also would recommend Doom Patrol which has both deep impactful emotions, dealing with trauma but also comedy and can be completely bonkers

Arcane is the best video game adaptation, and I know nothing about League of Legends. Castlevania is great too. The biggest problem with Picard and a lot of modern Trek isn't just that the writers are bad, but that they refuse to recognize their mistakes and constantly lie to try to cover their asses. Like the whole Guinan thing. Someone actually asked one of the writers about "Time's Arrow" and they said they're actually in a completely new timeline where "Time's Arrow." But that turned out to be an obvious lie because in the last episode, they basically say it was a predestination paradox and everything was supposed to happen the way it did. Picard even said that when his family went back to their chateau, they found the skeletons in the walls, which turned out to be the Borg soldiers they beamed into the walls.

Preston sounded almost like a Northern Irelander when he said "Northern Ireland". Happy to be reminded of Moon Knight. A very inventive show. Dunno what they can do for season 2. I thought The Boys was strongest in season 1 when it had a clear focus on revenge. Nowadays I mainly watch for Frenchie and Kimiko but it's definitely still entertaining. Hizdahr Materials could be a fun show in The Thrones Extended Universe.

If you enjoy Derry Girls and haven't already seen Chris O'Dowd's show Moone Boy from a few years back, I highly recommend it. I don't think they specifically share show creators or anything, but Moone Boy is also an Irish period piece and coming of age story, with a similar kind of affectionate-but-absolutely-ruthless sense of humor about childhood and family. Christ O'Dowd plays the imaginary friend of a boy who is loosely based on himself as a child. As the youngest child of a large family with tight finances, Martin sometimes slips through the cracks, so Boy and Imaginary-Man pool their limited intellectual resources to try to figure Martin's life out. Like, what if your body suddenly does something unfamiliar in the night? After you've finished burying your sheets, what do you need next? A small rock hammer? To stop eating strawberries? Moone Boy dialogue is a permanent fixture of my family's language at this point. We are the Men - of the Houses! I can only eat peas. In 1989 Martin's favorite show was Dynasty. Poor little Bono. A bicycle-shaped bicycle! (The most recent line from Derry Girls to get absorbed into our idiom was Erin muttering "Boke, boke, projectile boke!") Actually, now that I write this, one my top ten tv watches of 2022 also happened to be Irish. Bad Sisters is a black comedy/crime thriller about a close-knit family of sisters who just want to drink wine and live their lives but also murder their brother-in-law. My whole family got super caught up in it. Watch it with someone who will yell at the screen with you. Fwiw: Moone Boy is at least a decade old and some plotlines haven't aged ideally, but it has a place in my heart forever. It looks like it's currently on Hulu and Britbox. Bad Sisters is brand new on Apple TV+, and I shudder to think how the plot might spin any further out of control, but I think there might be a season 2 coming. Parthian Shot: Outer Range wasn't quite as popular with my family, though it also had us yelling at the tv at times. There were definitely some wild moments, for sure. We have decided that it's one part of a Pit Extended Universe, made up of various recent media that all in some way revolve around a big hole in the ground.

So saying there never has been a good video game adaption just means you guys maybe haven't heard of Arcane and you would like it because it's better than HotD. Im very sad about Raised By Wolves getting cancelled , altho the show quality dropped massivley after episode 8 season 1; it was still a good show i was looking forward to it ... I gave Russian Doll a try after preston recommending it many times , it wasnt my thing ... Moonknight was alright; but a bit of a mess here and there but still a good show ! Peacemaker was a big surprise and I loved it !!!!! Bravo John Cena and James Gunn !!!! House of the Dragon had some unforgivable mistakes but i love it nontheless and hoping they fix their shit in season 2

His Dark Materials is a good adaptation, but for something that's philosophically so good and interesting in its critique of organized religion, S3 is a huge fucking downer, emotionally, and I don't recommend binging it.

I've always thought the ideas were better than the actual plot. I found the love story extremely cringe. It's the kind of thing Diana Wynne Jones does way better.
