Chris first time commenting. Great video and great series. Going to be fun to see who wins. I haven’t had the pleasure yet of trying any of the first 8 though. I do love the Old Forester product’s, 100 proof, 1897, 1910 and the new rye, so the single barrel sure looks good. Also have looked at the Russell’s many times and didn’t pull the trigger. Looks like I need to. Really really like Wild Turkey 101 and 101 rye and Rare Breed is awesome. I have E.H. Taylor small batch and that is great as well but nearly impossible to find so the single barrel is a big unicorn for me. Appreciate your tasting notes and pretty cool how you are able to pick out the distillery. The wife and I have a hard enough time just getting the notes, you get the dang distillery as well! Keep up the great videos!

Believe me it has taken a lot of practice and I am nowhere near where I want to be in that regard! I love challenging my nose and palate to see where I stand. I got lucky on this day the next tasting i will probably guess all 4 wrong lol. So much for watching and for common! If you like those wild Turkey products you will love Russell single barrel!

Bourbinsane Thanks for replying. Yea I am going to have to get the Russell’s now. I have seen it in Ohio for as low as $54 up to $59. Hey I have a question for you. I have asked this to Jason at Mash & Drum as well, another great bourbon reviewer. My wife is my bourbon drinking buddy and her name is Kathleen. She has had the nickname Booker for quite some time. I am trying to find a Booker’s Kathleen batch to give to her for her birthday this year. No luck at any of the stores around or on line and I know it is from 2018 so may be impossible to find. Didn’t know with any of your connections and viewers if there may be a bottle out there somewhere. I am willing to pay a little over retail, but as cool as it would be to get one for her, not willing to pay the crazy secondary prices. Plus she would kill me. Jason said he would check around and I thought why not run it by you as well. You both seem to have quite a few connections as well as many viewers. I appreciate any consideration. Thank you.

Results start at 13:10 - good set of tasting impressions but none of this set of four are ones I would buy. Frankly I have soured a bit lately on single barrel selections, the only guarantee is it will cost more, as your notes on the Beam indicate.

RR SiB is a no brainer for me, one of my favorite Bourbon's store pick or not. Been some time since I have had the EHT SiB but the last one I finished was great. Never had the other 2 as the JB never interested me and the OF SiB is not available in Ontario and it may be some time before I can get one across the border.

👌 prediction was right! RR single barrel is tough to beat..Ive had several bottles of the OF single barrels and loved them all..makes sense it came in second place with the low proof and age...the bitter wood notes from EH taylor are what have kept me away from buying more...think if JB still offered the 11-12 year old it would fair better!

It looks like on the graphic from the 1st round that you have Four Roses #2 and Kentucky Spirit #3. I just went back and rewatched the video and I believe these are reversed. You had Kentucky Spirit barely edging out Four Roses. I guess it doesn't really matter since #2 faces #3.

Yes a what I did was gave each whiskey or ranking 1 through 4 for where I thought it would fall before I started the tasting and then after the tasting the top 2 moved ahead no matter what ranking in were initially. So yes I thought Kentucky spirit would fall behind 4 roses but it won so it moved ahead. Before the whole thing started I grouped them into 4 groups #1 seeds #2 seeds #3 seeds and #4 seeds based on where I thought they would fall. I had my wife randomly choose 1 from each seed to include in each tasting. I dont know if that makes sense or not lol

@@Bourbinsane I've done them blind and was shocked as well. Thought I really liked it... But after multiple blinds I've come up with the same result. Something cheaper and more available comes out on top. It is what it is I guess.

I just saw my first single barrel and it was 199 lol
