Best Snow Shovel: Why You NEED This Whacky Shovel!

I agree. I have a 4’ wide Gemplers snowplow pusher shovel. But a 3’ shovel may be easier to maneuver. The blade made is from 1/4” thick UHMD polymer a slippery cutting board like plastic. Very rugged. Been using it for several years. It’s Not the best in deep wet snow where I have to take small cuts starting from the edges. But generally it will clear an 80x24 driveway super fast using various different patterns depending on type of snow.

Thanks and I also use an unfoldable one. A foldable one may not be as durable because the folding joint might be the weakest part.

All fun and games until you run out of place to push the snow to (greetings from Canada!) I created a small hill that I can keep climbing to push the snow but it’s definitely huge now (7 ft)

Haha yes that is a problem! We are buried here in Ohio too. I just saw a video of those tractors that put snow into dump trucks - I need one of those right now!

Making a ramp of snow is good planning ahead...as winter progresses and some people have more places to put snow than others. I once had a parking area with a drop off at its edge and that made a scoop very effective as I had a place to dump the snow without my parking area getting smaller and smaller... Other times I've made ramps of snow to dump snow farther away...still as winter progresses it can become problematic... I have used scoops in conjuction with shovels working at the edges and snowthrowers sparingly too when I had about an acre in Minnesota... If I had a short driveway maybe I'd drop the snowthrower, maybe...

I have two sizes of snow shovels 24" and a 27" ,,the 27 " is too big for the average person to use, as it holds lots of snow ! However, bending parts like the (orange) shovel ware out and brake , so I stick with the GARRANT snow shovels ! On different types of applications. They work very well.👍

I have one and I think it is one of the best purchases I have ever made. No maintenance, just grab and go. I haven't used my snow blower since I got this. Not once. One other thing you didn't mention is that a snow blower throws the snow up in the air and often times the wind blows it back in your face. This shovel doesn't do that! Just last night I bought two more of them for my grown boys that have their own homes and drives to shovel!

@@MomCanFixIt the place where it really shines is after the snowplow comes through and loads the end of your driveway with packed snow! My driveway is 4 car widths so thats a lot of snow to move. It takes about an hour with a regular shovel but with the Garant snow shovel I clearded the end of the driveway after the plow went by with only 12 scoops of snow. This was repacked heavy snow about a foot deep. Shoveling the end of your driveway after the plow comes by is always harder work than just dealing with the natural snowfall but with this shovel its not so bad at all!

Spray some non stick cooking spray on your shovel so the snow won't stick as badly. I use several styles of snow shovel, to avoid injury. We live on a hill and I used to dig from my front door first, but now I go to the street and shovel the heavy snowplowed stuff first, while I am full of energy. Then I work my way back. Our driveway is a paved slope I use the scoop at a angle, so I get gravity to help but I don't have a huge pile at the bottom to deal with. But using the scoop sideways down a hill takes practice and good boots..

Phew, that sounds pretty rough! Thank you for the good tips! I just dug us out of almost a foot of snow yesterday and I definitely should have started by the road!

thanks for the review - and especially the cons. .. Just by seeing the version with the foldable handle that seems like it would be prone to breaking at the joint (esp. if you're not careful with the weight of the load/snow). thanks again: )

There are a few models that have little wheels on the back, they could double as a makeshift yard cart or wheel barrow in the non snowy months. It would mean that you don't need to just store it for half the year.

Lady who are you kidding! To big! And to much and it’s never better then a snow blower shoveling requires more work! Besides I’ll just pull out my 36 inch shovel and be done with it lighter and faster for anything under 3 inch
