and finding a good sunscreen for me has been a pain, i hate whitecast because im already pale and it makes me look like a ghost, and my hair grows back so fast that any kind of whitecast sticks to my facial hair, ill definitely be looking into some of these products ❤

Although i have dry skin, I prefer the light sunscreens for combo skin and normal skin rather than the thick heavy creams aimed at dry skin, as I found that the thick greasy sunscreens hardpan my powder makeup. My HGs have always been Anessa sun milk and the Allie Chrono Beauty which is my number 1. I've not tried any of these sunscreens as they aren't available in the UK other than LRP

Hey Lava! I know what you mean. Sometimes the thicker ones do take some time to absorb, especially if it’s a purely mineral one. I haven’t been able to try the Allie Chrono Beauty yet but I did want to pick sunscreens without any drying alcohols. Thanks for sharing your faves!!!

As of right now I only use a cleanser (cerave) and moisturizer (cetaphi) but I’ve been feels like the more I do my skin care I tent to break out. Can this be related? You get access to great sunscreens in the UK because sunscreens are regulated as a cosmetic. you get more choice and access to newer generation filters!!!

Well, thanks for the video but I didn’t like any of these sunscreens hahaha I really think people are missing out on sunscreens and other skin care products just because of all these outdated myths around alcohol and “reef safe” ingredients. If you don’t have a specific allergy or sensitivity to alcohol, it I will NOT hurt your skin. On the contrary, it can help make a sunscreen more effective because it forms the protective barrier better, or helps with the texture and spreadability and general user-experience of the product. Alcohol basically evaporates immediately after applying on skin. (As long as you’re not putting hand sanitizer on your face and you’ll be fine.) European sunscreens are very very good, and you’re missing a lot if you avoid them because of one ingredient. Sunscreen usage has no conclusive evidence of damaging reefs. And they face bigger issues like industrial contamination and climate change. Yes, Hawaii’s regulations on sunscreen ingredients are not-science based. Also another little fact: if an antioxidant ingredient like vitamin C or E is at the very bottom of the ingredient list is usually there to adjust the pH or to help preserve the product. It’s still an important ingredient for the formulation but it’s probably not there for its effect on skin.

Thanks for this well articulated comment and critical point of view! I agree that alcohols in skincare aren’t categorically “bad”. I actually included at least one alcohol-containing sunscreen in my previous guide. You’re right that it can enhance the texture and spreadability of products. It can also decrease sebum secretion, increase ingredient penetration, is a great solvent and it’s generally recognized as safe (GRAS). There aren’t many in vivo studies done on alcohol and skin reactivity and the studies that do exist can be contradictory. That being said, I mostly highlight alcohol-free sunscreens because I have a sensitivity to it. Also, the recent sunscreens I’ve tried that do contain alcohol have been drying, which can be one of the downsides to alcohol. That can, of course, be mitigated by formulations with added humectants and emollients, so if you’ve found ones that work for you then that’s great! As a Canadian, I can’t get access to European sunscreens unfortunately. I would love to try them in the future though as I have mentioned in previous videos! And though I agree with you that vitamin e (esp in the form of tocopherol) is often added for its preservative function (esp. with plant oils), I wanted to point out that they show up in a lower concentration because I feel it’s contrary to how they’ve marketed the product.
