Currently using Burn Proof Gear, they hold up great as long as you put them on correctly and cinch them down so they don't fly off. Got to try a Liberty Defense at some point but almost $400 for a cover to match one of my suppressors is a lot.

Been running one too but added a flame resistant sleeve on the inside to keep temps down... works very well... keeps suppressor hotter longer but brings the temp down to be able to handle it bare handed

Great video bro. For precision rifles this video is amazing. Too many people buy them for semi-auto's to look cool but don't realize they are trapping heat, making it louder and they wear out on semi applications. For precision shooting this is the best suppressor cover wrap up you'll get (no pun intended.)
@apersonontheinternet8006Ай бұрын
In general, I think suppressors are kind of gimmicky especially on semi-automatics. Even the low back pressure cans are going to start gassing you out if you needed to run the gun hard for whatever reason. There is also the fact that you are introducing more carbon into the action which increases the risk of failure. Finally, the very real risk of getting serious burns is very real and often underplayed even with a heat cover. This isn't to say that I'm against suppressors, having one on a night stand gun isn't a bad idea considering intruders aren't going to wait for you to get your ear pro on but I think that the cons are often overlooked or omitted. A lot of KZbinrs just want to sell you stuff at the end of the day.

On the Mechanic's cover, you can run the cinch strap over your VFG (on an AR) as a backup system to keep the cover from coming off during a course of fire.

I use to work for manta defense as their mil sales guy (for a short time). If you cut out the “manta defense” logos on the covers it can be used for higher rates of FA. The reason it’s limited to 100 rnds is because of reversion. The can cover tries to revert back to a liquid state when there isn’t enough air flowing through the cover. Cutting out the logos creates a higher air flow and smothers the option for a fire to start.

My first purchase of a cover was from Liberty’s Defense because of a comment Ray made in a prior post 4-5 months ago. The custom cover from Liberty’s Defense is for a 10.5” CGS Hekate (.338 LM) and is everything Ray says it is. I highly recommend this product!

I've used a Burn Proof Gear cover with liner for over 4 years on an 11.5 AR and it has not only held up extremely well during classes, 2gun and CQB matches as well as general practice, it hasn't moved either. It's still on the can and it just plain works. Almost half the cost of the Liberty covers - and no metal. Can has been carbon welded onto the AR for years and I have zero issues with it. You missed out reviewing them. Grab a couple and check them out.

I'm a little surprised how quickly you went past the Cole-Tac covers, and made no mention of their HTP covers that have an internal heat sleeve, and an external thermal cover with multiple options to hold it in place (Velcro, Stricta Cord, etc.). I've found this "combination" cover works best in virtually every situation. I have 7 cans, and the proper Cole-Tac HTP for each of them, and I'm super happy with the fit and heat protection. I also believe a "barrel cooler" is really important to have, as it will decrease the length of time it takes to cool down a suppressor by a LOT. Final piece of advice is to always carry pair of welder's gloves and a small welding blanket to handle hot cans and covers whenever you need to remove them or switch them over to a different barrel.

Good advice for sure and I appreciate the comment. I absolutely cannot keep up with all of the different companies making great covers. I do like the Cole Tac brand and use their bags extensively. 👍🏼

What do you think of burn proof gear? Also, with Surefire QD, the cover wraps over the QD, but to avoid carbon lock it’s advised to take it off while still warm/hot, so we’d have to undo the cover to get to the QD?

Why do none of these videos seem to mention the Cole Tac corset cover?
