Nice vid, thanks. One thing I‘d like to add is that one should think about the distance between the prompter and the speaker: if the prompter is too large and the distance too low, the chances are high that you see the speakers eyeballs move from left to right when reading the prompted text. In this case, smaller is better :)

and reflection in eyewear- I have paid extra for non-reflective lenses and they still show up on my zoom calls

Also, I use larger text to keep the eyes from traveling left and right, especially for newer talent not used to reading lines off a teleprompter.

You can tweak the text size (less text and smaller size at a time) to eliminate this issue.

Due to text width, even with narrowest settings on most apps, these big teleprompters make it obvious that you're reading from a teleprompter unless you're far away or are using a phone. It looks super obvious for me when using an iPad with the Glide Gear teleprompter.

@@giomerobrand5560 You don't need to use the entire width if you do need to be closer. A good teleprompter should have the option of changing the width and size of the text to reduce that. Even the free teleprompter software I use allows you to adjust the margins so that if you are closer to the screen, your eyes don't need to move as much.

Excellent. Will definitely be researching this a little more. I have been looking for a more professional heavy duty prompter as well as a sturdier tripod to support it. This will be perfect for my studio set up as most of my equipment is stationary. Love the fact that it comes with the tablet as I’ve had issues in the past trying to fit my tablets to other prompter set ups.

I love the TQ-L Teleprompter. Before that, i had the the smaller Parrot Teleprompter, which you attach to the camera lense and therefor you can not use a wide angle lens, because than part of the teleprompter is seen on the video. Great recommendation.

True, but you probably wouldn't want to use a wider lens if you can help it anyways. At least not if you don't share Orson Welles' obsession with wanting the largest possible nose. That being said, sometimes you do need a wider lens just to fit the space.

TQ-L seems like the one. I would build my own Black Shield Cover over the SIDES and the bottom of the iPad. Made the inside super dark. Allows more light to hit the angled glass. Then, I can shot outdoors.

Wow. Someone is thinking. The $250 tele, I purchased from Glide Gear (don't buy it), I had to made a diy cover. I often have to straighten the tele on the mount. The little tightening nuts are hard on the fingers. I made a flexible foam black, shade over for outdoor filming. The cloth covers the ENTIRE camera. I can't get my finger to push the RECORD button. Big, huge hassle. They literally THREW this thing against the wall, and it barely stuck. $250 got me a good hard lesson. You get what you pay for.

I have just made my DIY teleprompter today, at zero costs and am telling you no one will recognize if am using a professional teleprompter or not.. maybe one day I can afford this..for now..am good to go Edit: Yes that's a good teleprompter but for beginners like me I don't really need it and as one who prefers to move light and barely has no space in my room. I made my own too, key is to use beam splitting mirror so you don't get a double reflection. I don't have an exact DIY but i posted a video on how i made it if anyone is interested.

Their high-end piece looks great, but I would not buy what seems to be an ancient piece of tech in that tablet. You may not need a lot of computing power to run the teleprompter, but it doesn't have modern connections. I like the next one down at $420. Is is possible to use my Iphone instead of purchasing a separate camera?

Teleprompter is a system. No one is addressing the hardware device part plus app part plus remote. Screen has to fit, have an app that works. And the remote has to work with an app that works with the screen that fits the teleprompter proper.

Try an earprompter. You get a very small in ear bud, you record yourself reading the text you want, then you play it back in your ear and repeat what you hear with a small delay so you can listen to the text. Takes a bit of practice, but it's very compact, you don't need a lot of gear, and you can have the camera anywhere you like, as no one can see you reading.
