Hello Fartun 😎 Thanks for watching. Which two books from this video do you think are the most useful for you? 📚
@santiepful3 жыл бұрын
Jen, your suggestion, in this lesson, is outstanding. Good grammar books are essential to learn good English. My present favorite resources are actually, reading some books, and sometimes watching news on television and reading the information in written words, where often appears a new word to be learned. Of course, sometimes I also turn to a grammar book.📕 I wish you a good weekend.
@JeNsJyugyou3 жыл бұрын
Hello Santiago 🌟 Thanks for your nice comment and for sharing your study method. I think that is a great way to study English! You have listening practice and then also reading practice based on news, meaning that you are exposed to new vocabulary in two different ways while learning about what's happening in the world! 📰 Of course reading any book in English is also good English practice. 📚 👍🏻

Wow, spectacular. In this lesson I got to know the key parts of English language, grammar, vocabulary, phrasal verbs, collocation and irregular verbs. In the terms of the best textbooks for me are three: The official guide, edition 14 and edition 15. Already I have the last two, but I would be tremendously happy to get the (guide) one too. By the way I loved the expression you said : (to bridge the gap between), also learned about the collocation (check out) and the vocabulary (the key parts) mentioned in the description. Sorry for long, but I sometimes use noting down comments as a kind of study to be able to save information more. Thank you for your thoughtfulness Ms. Jen.

Hello Rafiq 😎 Thanks for your nice comment. (I feel so happy to read the word 'spectacular' 😁 and am also glad to hear how you found this lesson helpful.) If you already have the IELTS General Training 15 and 14, I'm not sure if the guide is also necessary. In the link I provided to the guide, above the picture of the Official IELTS guide on Amazon, there is a small button that says, "Look inside". I recommend clicking on that and looking at the first several pages of the book to see if you think it'd still be helpful for you, since you already have two other excellent textbooks. 📚

@@JeNsJyugyou wow ma'am, you always have amazing inclusive understanding to everything. Of course it would be tremendously useful for me, but I'll wait until finish those two first then see. But in general I feel better in the favor of your efforts, care and kind acts.

Hello Jen! What do you think about the books viewpoint 1 and 2 from Cambridge?
@fabioyasuo81343 жыл бұрын
I have taken the IELTS recently and I wasn't happy with my score. I will try again soon. The books that I used for my preparation were the callan method, Understanding and using english grammar azar blue one, official ielts and barron's. The official ielts book is not that good because the content is out dated. These books that you showed us are really expensive in Brazil but they seem to have great resource and I'm considering to buy them even thought they cost arm and a leg. Thank you for sharing, and have a nice day.
@JeNsJyugyou3 жыл бұрын
Hello Fabio ☺️ Sorry to hear that your results on the IELTS exam weren't what you were hoping for. I hope that as you continue studying and improve your English, that the next time you take the exam, you'll be able to get the band you desire. 💪 By the way, I like your use of the idiom "cost an arm and a leg" 👍🏻 The books aren't exactly cheap in Canada either...that's why I personally only have the third edition of Focus on Grammar rather than the fifth edition, and the IELTS 7 Textbook rather than IELTS 15 General Training Textbook.... I haven't forked out money for updated versions even though I love both books. 😅 Good luck on your next IELTS exam. ✨ Have a great weekend. 😎

Thank you so much for this video, i´m gonna search those books. I´ve been doing the Vaughan System Course (Audio CDs and books related to the CDs). It´s a great course, but it emphasizes in British english, and i want to learn Canadian english. I´ve been using it for improve my grammar, when i hear a new word (that i thought is only used in Great Britain and not in North America), i search in internet if there´s another different word that is used in north american english and i search how to pronounce it.

Hello Javier 🤗 Thanks for sharing about your studying resources. 📚 Actually, in terms of my favourite English textbooks, none of them are actually Canadian. The grammar textbooks (Focus on Grammar) are from an American publishing company called Pearson, and all the other textbooks I recommended are published by the British company Cambridge. 😅

What's the ialts test? Who has to take it?
@JeNsJyugyou3 жыл бұрын
IELTS is an acronym which stands for the International English Language Testing System. The IELTS exam is the world's most popular English language proficiency test. It tests all four key areas of language : reading, writing, speaking, and listening. People who are not native English speakers will usually have to take the exam in order to enter an English speaking university or for immigration purposes. There are two versions of the test, a general test and an academic test. People wishing to be accepted to post-secondary institutions usually need to take the academic version, while people who need to prove their English level for immigration usually take the general version. The IELTS exam gives you a score called a band. Band 9 is the highest level you can achieve on the IELTS test.

Hi, JEN, how come I've never have to take this test? Does it even exist in The United States? My family members have never needed to take it.

How come I never had to take this test.
@JeNsJyugyou3 жыл бұрын
The test is only for people who don't have English as a native language. Of course the test is available in the USA. It is an international English proficiency test. If your family and you are native English speakers then there's no need for you to take the IELTS test. 😅

If you haven't already seen, there is great information and a sample practice test on the official TOEFL website: www.ets.org/toefl/test-takers/ibt/prepare/tests/ 😁. In terms of TOEFL textbooks, I recommend the newest official TOEFL texbook which contains more practice tests as well as links to valuable online materials: amzn.to/2Zboewh ☺️. I hope you'll find these resources helpful. ✨

Hello Raviteja ☺️. Absolutely, textbooks must be clear and easy to understand. Unfortunately, there are so terrible textbooks out there. However, the books I recommended in this video are all quite lucid and great for improving your English. Especially the Focus on Grammar series of books is amazing for understanding even complex English grammar. Of course, some people do find it easy to study with videos, rather than books. That's why I have many KZbin videos on various topics that I hope will help students improve their English fluency 🤗.
