*Do you have any recommendations for nature lovers or hidden gems in Switzerland you really enjoyed beyond the traditional tourist spots?* We had amazing travels driving in Switzerland and seeing the well-known areas. I wanted to take scenic routes and explore of the main routes, but was afraid. I understand families live in the smaller towns/villages and didn't want to be rude/disrespectful without doing a little research to see if there were any local establishments and churches open to visitors. *The one time we did take a detour farmers (on machines) and their children in fields waved at us at every turn(we respectfully waved in return), it was amazing.* Beautiful area, but we knew it was a working community, not a tourist stop or visitor oriented at that season. *Take Care & Safe Travels!*

@@diostejastierras7898 you can driver anywhere and you see beautiful scenery of Switzerland. There are many “ gasthauses” where you can rent a room and eat in family environments at the end of the day. Just be spontaneous and drive where ever you want wish , you will love it especially in the mountains .

Caro ciao Brian & Carrie, What a wonderful, first day in Italy and in Milan; all the haute couture stores and beautiful streets. The bus ride from Munich was well worth it now. I love the music and the ambience and gelato ending! Let us know about the wines too. Ciao ciao, can’t wait to see Firenze and your Airbnb. I was there in, 1988 with two Canadian friends and travelled in a VW Westfalia all over the Mediterranean and had a leave of absence in our careers, and I swear I wanted to return to this sense of wonder, travel and culture education in my life again. Now 35 years has passed and I am overcoming cancer. Your videos still have that spark & passion as when you started out in Alicante Spain. I don’t recall anything to be able to share with you because who knows if those restaurants are still there and I was in my 20’s but I love how you spell out the ticket costs and Carrie’s tips bout doing the terrace & getting a glimpse of the stained glass inside the church….all these tidbits will come a long way when I get the guts to do what your are doin on my fixed budget and retire and live off my SS paychecks and my bag pack after cancer treatments. Keep on posting and inspiring us out here in NorCal and the world. Bravo you two and you both have come a long way and your videos are still fresh and interesting travelogue with useful info. Is it easy to leave after 90 days to a non-Schengen country and and wait out the 180 days? Do you use the ATM to get a bit of the local currency when you arrive to each country? Mille grazie 🍷

Thank you so much for the kind words, we are so happy you enjoyed the video and some of the tips ☺. We feel very lucky to be doing what we are doing and always hope that shows through in our videos. Those are some great questions. We still find it easy to find areas out of the Schengen as there are so many places we haven't been yet. For instance, we are heading to Turkey after we leave Italy. We actually just shot a new Schengen video as we get so many questions about the rules and how we manage through them. Hopefully, that will help answer your questions. As far as Cash, we always take out a small amount of cash on arrival. We've gotten pretty good at knowing how much we will need so we aren't stuck with currency in the end. Sending you hugs as you navigate your cancer journey, we pray for a quick recovery.

Culture in Italy is considereded as essential, so there are free entrance days for every museum. For some of them it's every Tuesday, for some others it's every 1st Sunday of the month. The Castle's musesum is free every first and fourth Tuesday of the month after 2 pm, and every first Sunday of the month all day long.

So glad that you got this video working. It was amazing to see how the Duomo ticket buying changed. 4 years ago you could walk right in and buy timed photos. Today is KZbin Sunday where I have 14 different videos/vlogs that have popped up to watch. But, I went to yours first. All of the other ones are fashion vlogs. It was great seeing the inside of the cathedral. When I was there in summer 2017, the line was way too long so I skipped it. Plus, I was in Milan to connect with one of my best, American friends of over three decades. A couple decades prior, my friend had bought a residence and moved to a city not far from Venice and I visited in more recent years. But, while still working in the U.S., he would fly back and forth to Italy until early retirement at age 55 and then made his permanent residence in Italy. But, he also kept his U.S. residence as it was on the East Coast and easy to fly back and forth. My focus in Milan was to meet up with my friend, focus on fashion, fashion history and shopping, and also on eating. LOL! I've been all over Italy for decades and have done a lot of history in various places. It's great to watch your vlog to see some of the historical places in Milan. My friend and I spent hours on end just leisurely walking around Milan as he knew the city quite well. Totally stress free. Great job, guys! Greetings from Los Angeles

I hope you have a great time in Italy. I have been to Milan, Bologna and Rome only, but I always wanted to travel all over Italy for a month or so by train in the off season, and I think next spring this might actually happen. So I am looking forward to your videos from Italy. Without having been there myself yet, I am eyeing the Amalfi coast, the coastal region near Lamezia Terme (quite far in the south) and Bari as good places to visit.

Amalfi and near by area is beautiful and can keep you busy for 10 days. Stay in Sorrento as a base, and you can do day trips to Amalfi, Positano, Capri Island, Mt. Vesuvius, Pompei, Naples all that are a1 hour or less by bus or train. Best way to get to Sorrento is fly into Naples and take a 10 Euro bus ride about 70-80 mins to Sorrento. You can take a SITA bus to Amalfi, Positano and beyond. From Sorrento you can take a Ferry to Capri Island and a boat ride to the grattos a nice day trip, From Sorrento you have trains to Mt, Vesuvius and Pompei and Naples Central. the bus ride from Sorrento to Amalfi is just amazing and sit on the Right side for the ocean view

Hi Guys, The first video from Italy was alright; you had some excellent tips, like visiting places early in the morning. For me, there are still too many tourists, though. Last week, a friend rented a villa in Calpe, and we visited for three days. The same thing happened, too many tourists, which spoiled the trip. I am flying from Alicante to Bologna on a foodie vacation in two weeks. I was going to go to Florence as it is so close, but my wife, who is into the Medici, said we need to visit together, so I will only be in Bologna. Given the time of year and the fact that your videos have been done a couple of weeks in the past, I can only imagine that Tourists inundate Florence. While looking forward to Florence, Scilly is my main interest as I would like to visit the Greek-Roman theatre in Taormina. Anyway, keep up the great work. I look forward to seeing a new video every weekend.

Hey Folks! Once again, you knocked it out of the ball park with this video. That cathedral is so-o impressive. I've never seen anything like it. I learned it took almost 600 years to build! Approximately 580. The fact it's completed amazes me. Each generation of architects and building artists must have their own signature ideas and probably wanted to leave their own impression in the building of it. They probably all had to make an agreement not to alter the original plans in order to work on it though. Still, the size impresses upon me that people back then seemed to be much more religious/spiritual than people today are. Or maybe the US is just the black sheep. Who knows? I like the Italian music you picked for the video. Good choice. Must feel good to finally be able to kick your shoes off, sit back and stay a while. Not sure why, but thought I was going to see some footage of the leaning Tower of Pisa. Guess it's not in Milan, lol, but in a town called Pisa just over 3 hours south of Milan. I see there are two major ways to get to Florence and one way goes through Pisa. Did you come across it in route? Really looking forward to your videos on Florence! Thanks for sharing!

Hello! My wife and I have been watching your videos from the very beginning! We really appreciate the journey you are on as we consider slow travel in the near future for ourselves. We've noticed that your stays used to be much longer in each city. Now, your stays are quite short (a day or two). How is this affecting your budget? It seems like it would be more expensive staying at multiple short stay accommodations?

This is a one-, maximum two-day tour. There are so many other sights to see!!!! For example, Santa Maria delle Grazie with the Last Supper! Not to mention the Museums!!! The 15th Century Milan State University Main Building…

The gelato in Italy was so so good 😋. Buy the time we got to Milan we were a bit over eating out at sit down restaurants - so we instead had some pizza by the slice and some amazing focaccia sandwhiches. Enjoy your trip to Italy - Cheers 🍻

One thing: I’ve seen several travel vloggers enjoying the Florentine steak in, surprisingly, Florence . It is a bit pricey but I hear worth it. If you dare try it, I’ll be looking forward to your review.

Just to correct what I think is a little misunderstanding: it's not the M line, all the subways lines in Milan have an M as a symbol (Metropolitana=subway). The lines are five: MM (Metropolitana Milanese=Milan Subway) 1, the so called red line MM 2 (the green line) MM 3 (the yellow line) MM 4 (the blue line) MM 5 (the lilac line)

Thank you again for your wonderful videos. I am 10 months away from joining those who slow travel. I have a general question that surfaced again from this video. You have frequently mentioned the need to have your shoulders/knees/heads covered in various locations (in both Europe and Asia). Would something gauzy/transparent be ok or does it need to be opaque?
@BrianandCarrie
@BrianandCarrie Жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching!! You just need to cover the skin, transparent may not work but if there is a problem with what you have, they will have options for you to either purchase or borrow. We really have never had a problem but it is something to be a where of.

This is a question about Albania. Is this a country full of smokers? I've heard that about Serbia and Montenegro. These were places I'd like top go but too much smoke pretty much nullifies them.
@BrianandCarrie
@BrianandCarrie Жыл бұрын
Hi David! Unfortunately, if smokers are a turn-off for you, this will include so much of Europe. It's just the norm, and everywhere we've traveled through Europe. Now, the Balkan countries do seem to take it to a different level (smoking on the buses), but to this point, Spain has been one of the worst. Thanks so much for watching!! Cheers beer

Video ben realizzato e piacevole.

Is this a riddle? I don't know, why do you always have to wear a mandolin when you talk about Italy? 🤔
@Cignallo1789
@Cignallo1789 Жыл бұрын
@@BrianandCarrie I'm Italian too. I think he is just wondering why foreigners always put a mandolin music (like the one that you used in this video) when thalking about Italy. This is a regional and old fashioned neapolitans music that has nothing to do with others part of Italy. Anyway, good video! Maybe, before going to Florence, you could do a short visit to other areas of Lombardy as the lakes or some smaller city like Bergamo!

Music is an interesting topic. When we don't use traditional music in a video people ask why, when we do, people ask why. 😂
@Cignallo1789
@Cignallo1789 Жыл бұрын
@@BrianandCarrie The thing is: mandolino music is not traditional at all in Milan nor in the majority of Italy. Mandolino itself is basically unknown for the majority of Italians (it's a very regional and niche instrument and there are many more famous, widespread Italian instruments: just as an example piano and violin were invented in Italy too). It's a bit as if, every time foreigners make videos or show footages about New York, they play country music in the background. Some Italians find that a bit annoying, it is not your fault tho that is just common misconception, it is probably branded as 'traditional Italian music' in foreign medias

Mandolin (and tarantella) music is absolutely out of place in a Milan video. There you are not far from the Alps...
@lorenzor2555
@lorenzor2555 Жыл бұрын
