I used to watch like over a thousand episodes (20+ min shows) in year, but that has come down A LOT in the last 10 years or so. Since Fargo and For All Mankind started their seasons in late 2023, I'm not counting them in my favorites. But my favorite shows from 2024 are as follows (in no particular order): X-Men '97, Shrinking, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Survivor 46, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Bear, Batman: Caped Crusader, Only Murders in the Bulding, The Penguin and Creature Commandos. Most of my downtime went to watching King of the Hill and getting caught up before the 2025 revival sequel.

Favorite show? Arcane. By a mile. Not even close. 2. Shogun 3. The Bear 4. X-men 97 5. The Penguin 6. Mr and Mrs Smith (was only gonna do top 5 but came back to add this cause it doesn't get enough attention)

Its a shame people discredit arcane because its an animated show, its by far one of the best shows of all time honestly

I think the problem with House of the Dragon s2 was that it felt like it ended right before what should had been the penultimate episode, it didn’t feel like a full season and needed 2 more episodes. My top 3 are Arcane, Penguin and Baby Reindeer.

Agree but it also feels like people are ignoring how good to rest of the season was?

@ yes episode 4 and 2 were 10/10 episodes for me, it seems like this ip is not allowed to be less than a perfect masterpiece or people get angry.
@IntercutPod19 күн бұрын
Not trying to argue it’s perfect either, just that there’s room somewhere between masterpiece and disaster. Thanks for your comments!

Agatha All Along was such a good show imo!! It was so entertaining and enjoyable to watch and its one of those shows where the season finale completely shifts your lens and makes the rewatch so enjoyable. Not to mention the episode where Patti Lupone was the lead character was genuinely one of the best episodes of television I have ever watched. My only critique is that they didnt stick the landing with the finale, but w the comments made by the director, it seems the bad choices for the finale were because of marvel. But overall, the entire cast was amazing and had such good chemistry.

Guys, you should watch the day of the Jackal. I think it will definitely make all of your list.

I meant to include Jackal in my list of spy shows on TV, I’m two episodes in and enjoying it! Thanks for the recommendation

I was an extra one the first episode of the Penguin when Oz and Victor were on the subway. I’m standing by Colin Farrell. I had the yellow coat with the blue hat. And for HOD, I think they had to rush the writing because of the strikes. The writers submitted the final couple of episodes scripts right before the Writers strikes happened. And rewrites could not be done while filming.

I read somewhere that the Abbott and Sunny crossover episodes are taking a sort of Rashomon approach to telling the same story from different viewpoints. In the Abbott episode it will be very network TV with a bit of Sunny thrown in but then when we do get the Sunny episode we'll see the story from that side where we see the same story but with the full Sunny level of depravity. No idea if this is true but i want this so bad. Only approach I've seen anyone suggests that would make sense for how the two drastically different tones can work together.

That's the first promising thing I've read about the crossover, let's hope it's true!

Hard disagree on Presumed Innocent. I read the book prior to the show and they absolutely fumbled it, imo. Added a lot of “plottiness” and changed character arcs for the worse, and not to mention changed the ending in a bafflingly preposterous way. There was a sequel book written by the author, that they could theoretically could move forward with but seems unlikely.
