I'm a newbie to RC and I've been wanting a micro crawler for a while. I saw the ascent all over youtube and I couldn't resist the 99 dollar price. - $106.00 with tax. It arrived last week and I really love this crawler. Looking forward to learning how to drive it.

I'm curious what axle issue you are talking about. I have put mine through torture and have not had an issue.

@@RoadsideRC the universal shafts that connect to the gear pins fell out on both sides on three front from the factory. Never seen that happen on any crawler I have. Maybe 1/10th scale bashers.

I like that its the same length as the trx4m the scx24 I don't even consider a competitor you have to upgrade so much on those things to get them to perform or crawl halfway decent.

would love to see comparison between redcat and furywagon im going to buy a truck soon also like the traxxas high trail which looks alot better but i dont think it would perform as good as the other 2 .those high trails really look nice but im after performance as well.thanks for the video

Man, that ESC wine is rough lol. I wouldn't hate bushings, they're kind of perfect for lazy people like me who don't keep up with maintenance after trudging through mud and water lol. Love that it has oil filled shocks and a metal gear servo. Two mounting positions might be helpful for separating ESC and receiver; I'd like to hook it up to my RC8X. Great video, looking forward to seing it perform with upgrades installed!

The ESC wine is not as bad in person as it sounds on the camera. In a couple days, video will be out with this vs the TRX4M vs the FX-118. This is the quietest of the bunch. Stay tuned - I have a bunch of videos lined up!

Hey Troy. What awesome little beast and at such a great price! Are these available now at Redcat racing? They really did a nice job at shrinking it all down to be a mini version of its big bro. I think that controller is used with a lot of Rgt crawlers now. Love this! 👊🏼 great review video !

What are the length of the Ascent 18 shocks from mounting hole to mounting hole in mm? I am waiting on my Ascent 18 to come & the first thing I need to change out is the shocks being I do not like the design. The shock springs are far too stiff in my opinion & needs more sag in the shock travel.

I found the 18th scale are my jam so to speak. So seeing this, esp after the successful 10th Ascent, makes me happy! I may have to order one :D I mean, one more rig isnt going to take up that much space vs a 10th scale right lol :D

Yes - but you will need to run a standalone ESC as well.

It’s a good deal, but you can buy the one tint scale, get wheels and tires and a little bit of weight and it’ll be cheaper than that than getting all the upgrades for that

Some folks, it is not about the price, but about indoor usage, etc. I personally prefer 1:10. But - this is the cheapest 1:18 with good performance, so the best one to choose based on your thoughts.

I like that it's really closer to the size of the SCX24's. But that high pitched whine might be a killjoy for me. I can't take high pitch sounds my whole life. Walking into a jewelry store of museum with laser alarms is brutal. And the esc whine is coming through my headphones really bad. Great run though. Thanks for the vid. Maybe this will finally get the SCX24 dept at Axial to pull their heads out of their axxes.....

It isn't the size of the SCX24 - same wheelbase as the TRX-4M and FX-118. Not sure why the sound came across so bad on camera. It is actually rather quiet in person.

@@RoadsideRCSure looks closer to the SCX24 that the TRX does. Especially the body. Wheel base might be the same, but overall, it looks like it would fit on a 1/24th course better than many of the 1/18th rigs. I just prefer the SCX smaller size. But It looks like 1/18th is taking over the market for micros. Just wish they'd nail down a scale standard. :)

I'd like to see a trx4M body mated tot he ascent, sure it would hamper the approach angle, but I think you could make it work really easily, just for scale looks. but then again, by the time you spend 100 for the redcat, and then 60 for a traxxas body , or 30 for an aftermarket for the traxxas, then you'd be back at about the price of a trx4m, so would it be worth it, unless the ascent out the box is better than the trx4m.

I do believe the Ascent out of the box is better than the TRX4M...but a lot of that also comes down to those crazy heavy bodies they have on there...and the overhang with the bumpers. So, I do agree. I don't see much value in spending all of that $$$ to put TRX4M stuff on an Ascent.

I am really in love with micro crawlers from what I see on youtube and this one looks great. I wish I would have money to buy one and get into crawling. But unfortunately I live in Romania and I can’t even afford a micro crawler. Life is certainly harder in the balkans.😢

Stock shocks / suspension seem to do a better job than its bigger brother. A no brainer for those who can buy one for 99 dollars. Did put one in the basket planning to buy one to join my 1/10 scale ascent. However adding shipment and taxes makes it almost double the price.. making it almost as expensive as what the 1/10 went for in the US…😢 Already having paid shipping and taxes on that one (not making it a cheap crawler over here anymore😊) I will have to pass on this one. Real shame…
