Huge topics like this are tough to explain in a way that is efficient for variety of viewers, so my hope is that this is what you were looking for. 0:10 - Dealing with mixed aspect ratios / resolutions in the (shoot, edit, and export with the same sequence settings) 1:20 - how to select what part will be exported from your timeline / sequence 2:30 - going over the export settings window 3:58 - Explaining bit-rates (target bit-rate, constant bit rate CBR, Variable bit-rate VBR, 1 pass vs 2 pass) 6:35 - What is the best bit-rate for KZbin 9:20 - how to save your export settings as a preset

I'm doing a 'no-no' for my personal viewing pleasure. I got an 848 x 360, 2.76GB copy of Avengers Endgame and then downloaded a 1280 x 720, 11MB copy of the Tony Stark kneeling hero's death scene the studio edited out of the release version of the movie (Delted Scene Clip). I loaded them both up in Premiere Pro CC 2015 along with a dirge appropriate piece of audio to background the emotional context of the DSC. Now, the DSC has black frame bars top and bottom that can't go into the finished product so I scaled the DSC down by 30% to expand the actual video window to match the Endgame frame and the Black Bars disappear off screen. I then synched the audio and exported the finished product @ H.264 - Match Souce Hi Bitrate - VBR-1 pass - Bit Rate Target = 10 MAX = 12 and got an 11GB output file, which I tought was pretty large, but the quality was great, the scene insertion was virtually undetectable; only a slight timing hiccup at the exit end that I'll clean up later. Right Now I'm experiementing with some of your settings as explained above. But I was wondering what you might think about the Scaling of the DSC to eliminate the Black Bars? That is, if you monitor these things. other than that, I concur with many of the comments below, Your videos are technically superb and informative.

Thanks for the video. I record my church sermon to be broadcast on TV, what do you recommend me exporting in. Ive been exporting it at 40 mbps CBR. I'm using the sony a7iii, recording in 1920 by 1080p 29.97fps. Thanks for your help. Ps... Its forever to transfer the file to them. usually 4 hours for a 26 minutes video.

Just to clarify: "Mbps" is megabits per second, while "MBps" is megabytes per second; and there are eight bits to a byte. Thus 8 Mbps = 1 MBps.

1:00 tru, but with youtube there's a trick where if you have fast moving 1080p @60fps video but you upscale the export to a higher bitrate 1440p resolution youtube will actually compress the 1440p version WAY better and crisper than the 1080p version. Take that same video and export exactly the same but with 1080p@60 instead and upload that to youtube it looks like blocky garbage during fast movements. So while generally upscaling doesn't work well, try it out to see the quality and clarity on youtube's final render.

I just realized that when exporting time-lapses, the bitrate must be higher than normal. Thanks for this great recap of the settings. Somebody else said that since YT compresses, better make the file bigger so they'd be compressed less, but I'd agree that the file sizes will be impractical to manage in the computer. VBR can at least assure you that it can use a higher bitrate when those crazy transitions or time-lapses come in.

@@JavierMercedes If you have a GPU, both those max setting checkboxes often won't actually do anything for you. Basically Adobe added these boxes when they made the transition of using more GPU than CPU for rendering (larryjordan.com/articles/adobe-premiere-pro-cc-when-to-use-maximum-render-quality/). That said, if you have a GPU it's still worth checking the one box of "use max render quality" when you use scaling in your video.

This is extremely helpful, and a great explanation and walk-through of things. I'm sort of new to creating video content and using Premiere Pro. I've heard that it's recommended to bring all footage (even those recorded in 60fps) to be edited on a 24fps sequence timeline. Is this a good idea? Also, would you then export with 24fps settings? It's also suggested by some to film in 1080p, then export in 4K, so that KZbin downscales to a better quality 1080p. Is that accurate? Also, why do you export video with AAC audio settings and not mp3? Have you also noticed how the new update to Premiere Pro (14.2) doesn't export a working mp4 video file with mp3 settings (but it does with AAC)? Thanks for your help.
@JavierMercedes
@JavierMercedes 4 жыл бұрын
The 60fps to 24fps depends on your situation, gamers and streamers like 60fps because that’s what most games FPS are at. People that film in 60fps for a 24fps are doing so because they want the ability to slow down the footage of they want in post. (Hope that makes sense). Since creating this video I do realize the YT compression may actually be better for 4K videos regardless of if they are indeed shot and edited in 1080p, so the advice to export in 4K regardless of your sequence settings may be valid. AAC is a lossless audio format, mp3 compresses the audio. With today’s robust tech and storage solutions there is no need to export mp3 with your video, AAC will give you a much better sound quality.

Sorry to say that bro but just like all the other (KZbinrs) you guys are forgetting or not even noticing the major factor which is HARDWARE ENCODING. When you set the bitrate encoding to 2 pass, you automatically lose the hardware encoding and it switches back to software encoding which slows down the render speed significantly around 25% from my own experience! and when dealing with large productions or videos this translates to HOURS! So hardware encoding only works with CBR and VBR 1 pass, and the ultimate choice would definitely be VBR 1 pass with some good rate around 15 ( anything higher even if it's only the maximum bitrate would still be compressed by youtube to 15 Mbps) according to their guidelines which are there for a reason. please always do better research from written resources and articles at least before copy-paste some other KZbinr's content and mislead lots of video editors to smth that already wrong by the other KZbinr, no wonder KZbin is full of crab lately because no one is willing to spend an extra bit of effort to grab a piece of good information to share...

0:24 Wrong. Because of KZbin algorithms 4K from FullHD looks better in youtube.

Killer video! I'm an audio guy, who does some video work for my YT channel. I watched like 6 other tutorials that just gave the basics, and this is the first one that explained CBR and VBR and when to use them. Thanks for covering this cover so thoroughly!
