This is your best video. I am a retired medical person who had low vitamin D at 5, and my doctor put me on 5000 units along with K2 mk7 at 200, which I added, and now my vit d is 76. I want it in the 80s before I reduce it or just stay the same as long as I don't go too high. Any doctor that is not testing for vitamin d is doing a disservice to the patient. Take charge of your health and make sure they test for it.

I always love your videos. So much great information. I am a plant-based eater. I have to confess, I don't always get the proper nutrients, mainly because I do intermittent fasting, eating during a six hour window and fasting for 18 hours. I love natto, but I have to travel to get it, it's not always available. I am seventy-four years old, four-feet eleven inches and weigh between 106 -109 lbs. I'm not on any medication, but I have been diagnosed with osteopenia, and there is some sarcopenia going on. I know I need more weight bearing exercises, but it is difficult for me to be consistent. But truly love your videos. Can't afford the vitamins you take, but I will definitely purchase some more vitamin D3 and magnesium. I've been out for a while. Sorry for the long message. 👏👏👏💯

Thank you for your detailed explanation of the metabolism of vitamins D, K, as well as calcium. This information is not covered adequately by my medical team. They just tell you to supplement with vitamin D when the serum levels are low and the recommended dosages are all over the place. I have been taking 2000 IU of cholecalciferol for 3 years and my deficiency was corrected within the first 6 months of taking it.

I love you! 👍👍I don't care about the bit of K2 M7 I take which is not expensive I am vegan ethically natto is a bridge too far, but am sending this to my best friend; we are both in late 60s and she lives in Sao Paulo and has been wild swimming all her life. She was astonished to learn that according to her doctors she was a candidate for spinal fusion due to degradation of somewhere ... in the cervical part of the spine (all this while she described biking home don't get me started). BUT she's getting her Vit D levels tested ASAP. Post accident hip fracture 2 years ago I am hyper aware of this. I take 5000 IU per diem didn't understand calcium supplements but knew enough that e.g. in spinach -- minerals compete? always here to re-listen so magnesium I take at night I like bis-glycinate in powder, one teaspoon (BTW, all this Includes my dog, my partner is gone and no way is my dog going to suffer the slings and arrows of rampant humans on the planet) ... rambling a bit but anecdotally 6 months ago I did indeed have unexplained dry patches on my upper arms etc. a mystery no more, they're gone and I do get to a swimming pool so chlorene sp was not a factor. My story which dovetails with yours is looking after my parents in my early '30s lecturing at Uni with no tenure so 2nd job I cooked for them and got through the better part of a bottle of wine in the last 2 years the story after that wasn't pretty ... and my family like yours was solidly based so I do count myself one of the lucky ones.

For me the "miracle" vitamin was zinc. When I first went low carb vegetarian I was not grtting enough zinc snd one day my tongue started to hurt badly. That was such a strange symptom, so I googled that after a day of it not going away by itself. I read that sore tongue can be a symptom of zinc deficiency and I had zinc tablets in the house and took one and *within an hour* my painfully sore tongue was completely better. That's what really brought home to me how important micronutrients are. Before I was vegetarian I was pescaterian, and I ate a lot of fish and never took vitamin D and I was fine. Fortunately, my doctor called for a vitamin D lab and noticed that I became vitamin D deficient after becoming vegetarian. I have been supplementing with 2500IU daily, ever since.

Im so frustrated because my heart doctor tells me not to take K2 because it can cause clotting and I said no thats K1, but they said they would advise against k2 because it can clot your blood🤔😳calcification runs in my family, so I thought it would be good for me to take the D3 plus K2 together, but my heart doctor makes me doubt it ☹️ Thanks for your knowledge ♥️Christy from Va

Bottom line: "Vitamin D" is not a nutrient. It's a prehormone that's normally synthesized in the skin in a "natural" (pre-industrial) environment. It's also *not* a significant component of most human diets. Therefore, "vitamin D supplementation" is actually a form of hormone replacent (i.e., a pharmacological intervention) that should be implemented based on routine blood tests, not based on notions of "recommended dietary allowances".

My mom lives in Florida. She goes to the pool. Gets a lot of sun. Her dr told her she was deficient in vit D
@larsnystrom6698Күн бұрын
The sun, if you can get it, should be enough. But we also need magnesium to convert vitamin D3 into the form we meassure in the blood. That's one reason why we usually say supplement with: Magnesium Vitamin D3, and K2 Vitamin A also belongs together with them, but we seldom need to supplement with that. Our biggest problem are all those who heard about the criminally insufficient RDA for vitamin D, and warns you about toxicity! My advice is begin with 5000 IU daily of vitamin D3, meassure after 3 mouths, and adjust the level to get 25(OH)D into the interval 50 --100 ng/ml.

Besides vitamin D , do u have a video on the safe version of Magnesium to take and the proper supplements to pair with it to maximize absorption? Its so overwhelming and frustrating to figure out which vitamins to take for basic health. All these YT "doctors " do not elaborate on dosage and specific types of vitamins to pair for maximum bioavailability. Also what about menopausal women who may have osteo issues. There's just too much information presented on YT that is not presented in a manner to help us understand which approach is safe So what is the bare minimum to take and what type and waht dosage? Vit D, magnesium, potassium, zinc, what else??? Oh and what about Omega 3s?
