Dr Berg notes on this "must see" episode! Vitamin D toxicity is very rare and typically involves too much calcium in the blood. Even Dr. Bruce Hollis, a pioneer in vitamin D research, has never personally seen a case of vitamin D toxicity. To develop vitamin D toxicity, you’d have to consume hundreds of thousands of IU of vitamin D3 for months! Vitamin D needs magnesium to function properly in the body. The more vitamin D you take, the more magnesium you need. Magnesium prevents vascular calcification, the main problem associated with vitamin D toxicity. The vitamin D receptor is dependent on zinc. Like magnesium, your zinc requirements increase when you take vitamin D. Zinc deficiency symptoms include an altered sense of taste and smell, acne, flaky skin, and lowered testosterone. When you increase your vitamin D intake, you’ll need more vitamin K2. Vitamin K2 helps prevent the buildup of calcium and also helps to drive calcium into the bones and teeth. The active form of vitamin A, called retinol, is also an important cofactor for vitamin D. Vitamin A receptors sometimes bind with vitamin D receptors as a complex. Vitamin A also helps keep calcium out of your arteries. Always take vitamin D3, not D2. Vitamin D2 is less potent and is typically synthetic. Avoid synthetic vitamin D3 supplements and supplements with fillers such as maltodextrin or glucose syrup. Leafy greens, chocolate, certain nuts, and pumpkin seeds are the best food sources of magnesium. When choosing a supplement, look for magnesium glycinate. The best food sources of zinc are red meat and shellfish. If you take a zinc supplement, consume it in a blend with other trace minerals. For every 10,000 IU of vitamin D3 that you take, you’ll need 100 mcg of vitamin K2. MK7 is the best form. Vitamin K2 is found in high-quality grass-fed butter, kimchi, sauerkraut, grass-fed beef, and eggs. It’s best to get your vitamin A from food. Egg yolks, liver, and cod liver oil are the best sources. Thank you Dr Berg! 😺👍

Well I have a personal testimony on vitamin d toxicity I was taking synthetic vitamin d 50,000 units once a week from my doctor And when I was laying down my spine was hurting and felt like it was splitting in pieces. And I figured out it was the synthetic prescription vitamin d that was causing the problem I quit taking it and the issue solved itself. So I don't recommend you take a gigantic dose once a week of any synthetic vitamin

When I was taking Vitamin D3 my liver enzymes were elevated a little. I was sent to a gastroenterologist and I slowly eliminated supplements( over 9 m) It was the vitamin D. When tested my vitamin D was 40. That was during the summer and I live in FL. Have you ever heard of this? Could I be sensitive to it or maybe have a gene mutation that causes this? All the doctors were stumped. I would like to keep my levels up especially during the winter months. I’m scared to start taking it again.

Why a lot of people around the world have vitamin D deficiency ? Like every channel I watch (especially healthy channels) take vitamin D. I live at one of the most sunny countries ,Iraq, where degrees hit 50°c at summers but my Vitamin D lvl was 4!! The reason why I believe my tests are true is because when I workout and jump ,I used to get foot injury and stay in couch for a week. But now after getting better , am not sure if I should continue taking Vitamin D (I have it at 14 now)cause my parents wont allow me to take other supplements, they will say its too much ...

I’ve been taking daily 50,000 IU of D3 for the past decade or so. My blood level is usually around 110-120 ng/mL. I get tested twice a year. And I can tell you one thing: I haven’t been sick for the past decade. Not even the cold or as little as a runny nose or a cough. Nothing. Of course I also take all the cofactors, 600 mg magnesium glycinate, 1,000 mcg of K2 (all-trans MK-7) and 20 mg of zinc bisglycinate. My calcium score (CAC) is 0.

Thank you doctor for the information. I drink a gallon of 2% milk every 2 days ever since I was a little kid. Is there harm in that?

check out Dr. Bright, She has talked about uterine polyps, she is all about carnivore diet, getting enough animal fat and cholesterol to be healthy. Also a lot on iodine. She has done several interviews with the carnivore crowd and doctors. I like Dr. Anthony Chaffee, Dr. Ken Berry. good luck

Hello Dr.Berg. Since amlodipine is a natural calcium channel blocker, is it a good idea to replace it with magnesium glycinate supplements? I plan to take Vitamin D3 and K2-MK7, that's why wanted to take magnesium as well.
