have you tried some Chinese or Japanese watercolours with those sumi brushes? I feel they would really suit your style as they are made to be stickier and a little more opaque than Western watercolours (almost in between gouache and watercolour, but not matte), I’d love to see you try your hand at them, if you haven’t already! Marie’s make some really nice professional Chinese watercolours(both in tubes and pans) and Kissho do some lovely Japanese ones!
