It’s not really as hard as you might think they are, if you can do advanced chance’s are you can do the elite miner inconvenience and hive ground. Elite. Get yourself into an experienced team and have a go at it…

If you have a decent setup than they are not hard at all some like defend starbase one is run and gun the evac ships have 2 mill hull they will never be taken out and the starbase has 10 mill HP they can never take it down, its simple run and gun thats it very easy space TFO, bug hunt is the easiest ground TFO run and gun thats it. Have to remember elite the ships only have a little more HP than advance but nothing else new theres just more in some areas than in advance difficulty. I agree if you can do advance difficulty TFO rather easily than elite not as hard just know that unles you really need marks play advance dont make marks the focus on elite. Example in TFO counterpoint defending DS9 you cant lose if it hits 1 hp you lose a few marks thats it knocking out terok nor same thing, the objectives need to be done closing 5 portals and beaming assult teams to terok nor, you dont even have to destroy there most powerful ships just wait til ltime runs out you will win regardless. Playing on elite is playing smart knowing that you dont need to defend everything.

Into the Hive question: Have you tried deactivating the corner nodes while standing on the fence? I stand on the fence to avoid the killer floor and take out the Borg, but I don't know if you can do it in the corners or not.

@@MCStu Yeah, the deadly floors have a rather low volume above the floor. standing on Borg junk like the regen alcoves should avoid it.

If you generally get 1 piece every other Elite TFO, that means 10 to craft one console with a 4% or so chance to get the isomag you actually want. So basically 250 runs for one specific console as a rough average? If I need 7 or 8 consoles? That grind seems hella unreasonable. Am I missing something?

the spreading of information is always a good thing, its just a strong downside that the price always plummets because of this, already down to 4 mil for the mats from the 5.5 of yesterday, it would be nice if you include a general tip to not constantly undercut when farming these to keep the value somewhat stabilized so people, especially newer players can farm EC easier and include a build guide so people can contribute something to clearing faster rather then being dead weight which has spiked over the last day, such as a support build on tactical or science which is dirt cheap to build, or using a Plasma Split beam and Romulan set which is free as some examples, STO better ground builds has a great example builds list incase anyone's curious, so yes please on that builds guide to help people out, regardless great vid as always Stu, always happy to see these.

Yeah, there's a constant problem of people, probably kids, dropping the prices of everything for a quick sale. I watched the mats from 4 million to 3 million in an evening because some people are impatient. Fortunately, the isomags themselves are a bit sturdier, with 40ish varieties, people aren't looking for the cheapest one, they're looking for ones they need for their builds. People aren't going to buy the cheapest one unless it's the one they're looking for. Still, doesn't stop them putting them in at 16 million and wondering why they're not being snapped up. As for the timer/counter/decider as to whether or not there's a mag component in the box, I had thought it was performance linked, but I was obviously wrong. I've played Hive 5 times today on the same char, and opened the box immediately after playing, and got 5 mag components. You could hear my cheers on Ferenginar ;)

Let me say this I have all 4 parts for isomags and a lot of them from lockbox as well most come from that before elite random TFO now, also I have 7 isomags already and still plenty of material left over. I got a lot out of lockboxes from R & D material boxes but than its not FTP anymore having to buy keys to open them.

The opening 10 or more thing doesn't make sense at all if the chance is based on opening. You are letting confirmation bias cloud you there. For what you say to be true. If I open one, and then do another run and open another and my chances are lower... what mechanic do you think is setting that? And why would you think that mechanic is negated if when you open one out of the 10? The chance is set either when you get the box, or when you open it. So having 10 won't make a difference.

Emergent behaviour. It is true of any complex system that the sum of all the parts working together may have unexpected or unaprehended effect. I've noted some similar quirks myself, like Stu mentioned it is an impression based on experience [anecdotely] (the impression may be incorrect, but the experience is not invalid).

Seriously though, computers can only generate sudo random numbers and usually those number sets contain predictable sequences (given the right knowledge). Cryptographers know well that randomisers can become a weak point of encryption, and that weak point may be exploited by understanding the randomiser and identifying patterns and statistically significant odds of those occuring). I can't say I can prove or disprove this either way (e.g. I am not saying your incorrect, but I am pointing out its an opinion of the correct explaination), again, I can say, anecdotally, I've had a similar experience to Stu. We could just both be lucky, or possibly chance favoured the times we opened a pile of boxes at once, though equally, it might just be an emergent behaviour from a complex system (btw, nice joke there, using litteral 'gobbly guk' [the word] to ignore my own point, very meta. All good though, I'm open minded to possibilities, I'm here to enjoy the channel, and fair enough you might be correct).

UPDATE: if you run RANDOM TFO, you get your choice of marks and choice of component (iso mag coil for example) and most of the time ALSO a iso mag piece (that makes coils). Doing targeted TFOs has had mixed results. Doing RANDOM TFOs get me the right part EVERY TIME.

I haven't played much recently, just getting back into it. What is everyone thinking about the fleet Qugh miracle worker battleship? 5 eng consoles, and upgraded has 3 universal consoles. On paper this sounds really good.

This is a complete waste of time five vulnerability exploiters for whatever energy type weapon you’re using and a power transfer rate over 400 with a five in the four build overload or rapidfire three you’re going to be hitting in the 300 K plus and none of this silly farming

Dude, the isomags are incredibly cheap in the exchange lol. I buy a bounch of em for less than 5 million EC. Why? i dont have a clue. They had the exact modifier i needed and such. And the advanced materials are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay easier to get just doing the aldmiralty system. You are completely lost. I really hope you dont think people need to rely on elite tfos to get those materials, because if thats the case, its stupid as it seems. A huge bunch of people dont do elite tfos, because its dumb and stupid. And the fact that you dont get guaranteed those materials in the boxes make its even more stupid if possible. I know that these days with all the powercreep doing ground elites is completely a joke but even then some people just cant. Period. In the end you dont even actually craft anything, the main problem i have is that even if i had the advanced materials it wont allow me to craft anything at all. This video was completely useless hahahahaha. Thanks dude.

Isomags are over-rated, I would rather use colony consoles and get free heals, your just jumping hoops to make something that isnt worth the effort.

Perhaps the effort isn't worth it for you, but it might be for others who own the right ships. Example. The Bozeman only has 3 tac slots and four eng slots. Already, this ship will perform better with isomags than spire consoles with out TX upgrades. What about ships that have 5 eng console slots? If you want the best build you can make with consoles, Isomags are the way to go for the right ship.
