The process takes up to an hour. If battery voltage is not powered or maintained the car will lose all power during programming and you will cause irreversible damage to modules.

I have a similar issue I have a series 3 2014 320i, my system is stuck on the loading screen and keeps rebooting over and over again. This is the second time this has happened. First time I got it sent to get it checked out they fixed it and it stuck for a few months but now it’s doing it again. I can’t spend another $500 to get it fixed.

Thanks for the great (encouraging) Video! I live in California, USA, hope you can help. I have a similar issue on my 2017 440i convertible, that I bought in June 2022 with 80k miles. The iDrive System keeps restarting every 5 minutes, its very repeatable. One significant difference from other posts, is that the Navigation does not come on when you click on it from main menu. Both the i Drive System and the Navigation started having these problems at the exact same time. Also, Navigation does not highlight (the Navigation word stays grey) when you scroll through the menus. I talked to BMW and they point suggest buying a new Head Unit. Is that the cure for this?? This is a plea for help, I would LOVE some guidance here.

Hey it’s worth a try to find your local independent bmw specialist to update your Headunit for you. Specifically request the update for the head unit using latest firmware.

Thanks for the video! I have a similar issue. I have a 2013 328xi, which the iDrive system doesn’t go pass the “BMW” display and then restarts every minute or so. My overhead camera view is also dimming and not as clear. I took it into a dealer and they said “it has the latest software update”; however, mentioned it could be my IPhone 14 pro max causing the issue. Something about “contacts with emojis or emojis” I’m not sure. I’m connected via Bluetooth and I do not sync my contacts, but stream music. First time hearing about the phone connection causing an issue, but wanted your feedback. Thoughts? Thank you!

Try a hard reset first via using the volume button or disconnecting battery. If this doesn't work you may need programming or replacement. Your issue sounds slightly different to the one I show in the video.

Thanks for the video! I have a similar issue on my 2011 328i. The iDrive system is stuck on the main menu and does not allow me to navigate anywhere using the wheel. The menu, nav, radio, etc iDrive buttons are also not working. I tried a soft reset buy pressing the volume knob down for 20+ seconds but the screen remains frozen on the main menu. Any thoughts on root cause / fixes are much appreciated.

Seems as if your headunit is bricked. Only way to confirm is via unplugging power behind and plugging back in to see result.

Did you have an issue with holding radio stations in memory (under selected number positions). I my case after save some radio station for example under number 1 it wasn’t working. After turn off engine and turn on again I can’t see any saved radio station under number one. Anyone can help me?

You need to create a user profile in settings then it will stay. The car thinks a guest is driving so will delete saved presets. Create a profile and problem solved!

ive literally just fixed it and i think i found easier way xD so heres how i did it : i turned ignition on but not engine , then i started engine after 10 sec and it wasnt having problem so i just connected usb and updated software and now its fixed i hope it will help you guys or make your job easier ❤️
