Keeping the lead arm against my chest was the single most useful tip I ever had! Thank you very much! Changed my ball flight and my game immediately.

Great video Larry. There was a teacher in Palm Desert, Tony Manzoni, who taught a single pivot swing, around the left leg (right hand swing). The crucial mechanic was the left arm pinned across the chest throughout the swing. The swing created very little side spin. My scores plummeted and I’m now a 6, from a 10. Question…….sometimes I get out on top of the ball and pull the shot. Does the right shoulder need to work more down and through in this swing?

I've been working on this all this fall and winter getting my lower body activated more in my swing. Wow! does this work. In this last month I'm seeing faster club head speeds while still maintaining a solid feeling of connectivity. My body always felt out of sync and unpredictable before. Once I warm up, I feel I can just free up my swing and let the club head just power through the ball.

Thanks Larry. Really appreciate your videos. When I started playing golf, I used this lead arm connect to my chest and some people saying that was wrong. I tried changing it but my golf game became inconsistent. I decided to stick with this concept and my golf game improved drastically. I still need to polish it coz sometimes if my arm disconnects on my chest, my ball draws 25-30 yds. Thanks again Larry!!! Keep it up.

Even better. Feeling like your left bicep is swiping down your chest in your downswing transition and bowing your wrist gradually to control face closure will deliver unbelievable amount of force to the ball. The rest is just turn and burn as explained in this video.

Excellent advice. Beware the arm angle. Most have much greater angle of arm to chest than better players as measured by thousands of swings with gears. So yes keep arm to chest but you can’t have that angle to great. It’s generally from people not turning well with the chest on backswing but moving arms too far across. If you can find that balance - magic. Love how you show the rotation and sequencing. You have gift for communicating complexities to consumable application. It’s rare - great job.

Same idea for driver? Seems to be a larger issue there for me with the lower loft and shutting the face.

I have the exact same quesiton, my miss with driver is hook left and I am thinking this is the reason, I keep my arm to the chest on the backswing but I have a feeling I am releasing it on the down swing!

Will this help my dreadful early release ? I need to quick my arms less active. Arms takeover my swing.

I don't intend to say this is wrong, I'm just hoping for a little clarification. I'm a golfer who tends to get stuck in my downswing. Jack Nicklaus mentioned he swings hard from the top, tiger used to try and get his arms to beat his body to the ball, Justin Rose has a drill where he pumps a couple times where his left arm slides down his chest in the downswing. Can you explain why they might be doing this opposed to keeping your arm stuck? Edit: Only took a couple more videos to get to the one where you to explain this. I get steep and a little over the top, so I early extend and flip with high hands to compensate, just seems weird that me getting stuck could be fixed by what I used to think defines getting stuck. This move would be good for me. There's a fine line between doing this and over-doing it though. Trying to replicate what the pros do is very tough. I can look in a mirror and get into the same positions and do the same when swinging slow, but add a bit of force and momentum in the golf swing and the positions you think you're in become steep and over the top. Feels vs reals, I can't imagine what some of these players "feel" compared to how their swing actually looks.

It doesn't matter what Jack, or Tiger, or Justin rose does, what they are working on should not mean that's what you need. this video may help you, or it may not help you, but what those 3 players you mentioned do does not change what I would suggest =)

Is this for both irons and driver? My iron face control is pretty good. Driver I'm all over the place, pulling the handle leaving the club face wide open or over compensating leading to toe hooks

Big fan of the channel thanks Larry Question: From your experience would this connection cure an open face through impact too? I suspect sometimes that my chicken wing is not allowing me to close the club face properly despite my body rotation...result is a dreaded weak shot to the right, especially with irons, almost a shank.
@LarryCheungGolf3 жыл бұрын
it doesn't directly cure open face, if you're open face, just try to close the face more =)

It depends. Are you ripping 350 yard missiles off the tee on a regular basis while making millions on tour? Keep doing what you are doing then. It's working. For the rest of us we might as well be trying new things. Btw, Matt from TXG hits 350 yard bombs too sometimes. And Larry Cheung is his teacher.

it doesn't matter what pros are doing, if you are happy with how you are hitting it, then great! if you have issues controlling clubface, then this video is a suggestion that may or may not help. If I didnt think this video was good, I wouldn't of uploaded it lol =P

It is very difficult to overrotate the face. The lead arm connection is perfect to avoid a slice. The body is closing the face and not the arms or wrists. This gives much better control.
