Nice! We have ours setup similarly. My Mode 1 is setup where tilt is disabled so only left and right is enabled and I’m really liking that for wide main shots to keep verticals level, then for details like your M2. Cool vid! Get outside more

Heyy. Great video. How do u get rid of the distortion from the wide lens ?
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo2 жыл бұрын
Mine doesn't really have any so I dont do anything. But for ones that do - most editing programs have an effect or lens correction option where you can manually dial it in to fix it. I have to do that for my drone footage sometimes and it works pretty well. Alternatively if its too bad - You can always zoom in a couple mm and it usually makes a big difference with distortion and vignetting! Hope that helps

Thanks for this. I just shot my first house (video) and my gimbal was driving me nuts. I ended up fiddling with settings to get them usable in the middle of the shoot.-that roll axis off is a good call!

Do you ever use a monitor? I just got my fist gimbal and it seems like a must have right off the bat since the camera screen is usually so far away
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo3 жыл бұрын
Yeah! It depends on the type of shoot. Love using a monitor when it makes sense & attention to detail is more necessary. Also some cameras have better / worse screens (or different types of flip screens) I used to use one all the time with my Sony or if I’m using cinema cameras. But the EOS R screen is pretty bright / accurate so I don’t typically use it with that camera.

I also use the 16-35mm for interiors, but when I swap with the 50mm lens, I just find it sooo hard doing the gimbal balance all over again. Do you have any tips or tricks for this swap? Marking the gimbal with cheat lines or something so u know already where it needs to be for the right lenses?
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo2 жыл бұрын
You could do that if it works for you! Also just making sure to not go back and forth saves a lot of time so do all the wide shots / then do all the details. I think the more you do it the faster you'll get!

Thank you so much for you tips! This helps tremendously! Question, I too have a 16-35mm f2.8 but I find it to be heavy at times for full days of gimbal work, do you think a prime lens for real estate wide pan shots and push ins would be a good idea? If so, what focal length would you recommend in general for interior wide pan and push ins? Some people are saying something like 12mm is too wide giving you that motion sickness effect, but then I've seen some amazing footage shot with 12mm and 14mm focal lengths. Any thoughts as to what is your most preferred focal length for these interior movements. I was thinking that having a prime fast lens could do well in low light interiors and the form factors make them lighter and smaller. Your tips and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!!
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo2 жыл бұрын
Hey! For sure, it can get super heavy 😓 I would definitely recommend renting the ones you're looking at to see what you think and what works best for what you're going for. I think 12 or 14 would be a lot of fun to have! With the 12 , you would also open up the option to use 4k with a crop and still have pretty close to 16mm shots too! Might be nice. But its mostly a personal choice what you like and what is giving you the look you're going for. As long as it's not distorted it should be useful !

Great as usual!! Do you have any recommendations for handles or other attachments?

Thanks!! My adapter is from polar pro and it has a arm thing that quick connects for monitor setups (only option when I got it but it’s a bit over priced) that I like but I hardly use it. Smallrig has come out with a lot of cool handy ones recently that look better + cheaper !

What do u mean by “still no roll axis activated” im having trouble using my gimbal, i follow all ur setting.
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo2 жыл бұрын
Hey! So there are 3 axis's on gimbals. Tilt (up+down rotation), Pan (Left + Right Rotation) and Roll (Rolling Left Or Right) - I didnt word it great in the video but if you do the main settings I had the mode will disable the roll axis which will keep your shot level all the time. What kind of issues are you having? Hope that helps!

@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo2 жыл бұрын
Hey! Always best to work with your camera's abilities like you're saying. Probably going to be best to use AF in brighter scenarios where it works well and if you notice it struggling flip to MF to make sure it all comes out good. If you set the focus somewhere mid-room it usually turns out looking good as the camera moves on wide shots even though logically that seems weird :)

The Ronin-S works well for my FF DSLR body + big lenses as well as my mirrorless). We use it a ton for real estate listings and weddings & it keeps on ticking.
