No wedding planning STRESS?!? Honestly, I was horrified when I saw this. He took her engagement year from her - the bridal showers, the dress shopping, the spa appointments with her best friends, the engagement party, rehearsal dinner... dreaming of HER day, having the specific flowers (and everything else) that she had hoped for from childhood... he made every decision, every choice, and put her in a position of such intense peer pressure that she could hardly have said "no." Her wedding experience, start to finish, lasted less than 30 minutes and was entirely out of her control. I imagine they've made a bundle off the viral video, and he owes her, frankly... anything she wants, because a vow renewal - even with all the trappings of an original wedding - can't replace what she lost. All that said, it was an amazing grand gesture and I'm very happy to hear that they're doing well.

Listen, I'm not married, but to me a proposal is about, not simply stating, but demonstrating how special she is to you. Love isn't tasteful. It's bigger-than-life. The point was not to shoot some elegant rom-com scene, hoping it would catch the eye of the Academy. The point was to make one woman feel, if only for ten minutes, like she really is the center of the universe. And his proposal was just the right amount of "over-the-top" to do exactly that. Hats off to you, sir. Haters gonna hate. But, from where I'm standing, it looks like all you detractors are just missing the point.

Yeah but I think it wasn't about her, I think everyone else was performing fór her, but shé wasn't in the spotlight. Not to mention, right after accepting, she was sortof pushed into a dress, with no chance to make up her mind or pick her dress herself. I wouldn't have enjoyed that at all. It didn't seem she was the centre of the universe, it seemed she was a television-subject that needed to be walked past the hotel, pushed into a dress and put a ring on. Or at least, that's what I'm disliking about this. No matter how happy they are now (I'm not hating on that) I just feel the proposal lacked lots of emotional contact with hér and how shé felt and what shé wanted to say. WHY push everything into 10 minutes? Why not let her enjoy all of this for a moment? The only reason for the 10 minutes is so that it could be on t.v., not because she wanted it to be 10 minutes. They had the show in mind and not her.

Widdekuu, yes, granted, it was also about the show itself. But she was still the center of the universe here, regardless of any other purpose. I’ve never seen a proposal that lasts an hour. Most are less than one minute. So if anything, she was given more opportunity to speak, react, and enjoy the moments compared to most others. Any idea how many hundreds more had to plan this out who you didn’t get to see? Not to mention a sea of performers that practiced for months, but were barely noticed. If she had to sacrifice picking her own dress and wedding date for all of this work that was for HER, can you explain what else she really lost? Do you think a piece of clothing is what makes or breaks 50 year marriages? Whether a wedding is on New Year’s Day or the 4th of July, is it not about the memories? Is there a doubt that this will be remembered? And don’t forget, they didn’t all just get in their cars and leave after this ten minute edited video. They had drawn out wedding celebration. If she didn’t get to pick the date or her dress, but has a husband who’d go this length for her, I’d say she did alright.
