Stiffer spine is easier to tune then under spine or right on the edge. He's tryin to help people out that don't know alot about tuning. And of course it's going to penetrate better

It doesn’t matter what your arrow is if you make a perfect shot. When you make a bad shot, a perfectly flying, structurally sound, razor sharp, single bevel fixed blade, at 550gr to 650gr Is higher percentage kill. I don’t understand why light arrows and mechanicals are still being pushed to non-professional bow hunters. There is no such thing as overkill with arrows, most shots are taken @ 20 yards. The happy medium IS 550.

I'm down with what you two are saying. I have a 64lb bow shooting a 416 grain arrow at 258fps. My ethical kill skill is at 20-30 yards. I'm not going extreme I'm going in between. I feel confident hunting southeast whitetails. Enjoy your channel and content.

Every Ranch Fairy video I’ve watched,(which is almost all), he specifies, he’s talking “average whitetail distance, of 20 yards and in”.

Hi thanks for the feed back. Yes and this info is correct. A "heavy arrow" in that range has been shown to maintain speed better, but it is still going to be reaching the target slower. We just like to stay in that range where you still have some thump behind it but its not so heavy that it greatly effects your speed or the "happy medium" we spoke of. Modern day compound bows generate so much energy any arrow between 300 - 900 grains will have no trouble 20 yards and closer. It is all personal preference ultimately. We are just more confident with our set ups shooting 400 - 515 range. I have tried heavy arrows and shot lots of different builds threw chronograph and formed this opinion. All depends on where your hunting, what your hunting, and range of the shot you are making. Thanks so much for the respectful feed back! We have more detailed / in depth content on this topic coming soon. Stay safe shoot straight and God bless!

There are no “best?” weight for a hunting arrow. Too many variables in arrows bows draw weight etc. Back years ago I was an arrow speed chaser. I have killed a lot of deer using Lightspeed target arrows with 80 grain Slick Trick heads. Blow right tru turkeys. Had no of idea of speed no chronograph. Those target arrows might have had 10%? FOC? There’s so much BS about needing high FOC and 550 PLUS grain arrows. Yes, I will agree the real life physics show a heavier arrow will perform better. But this discussion has been presented so many times probably every bow hunter knows something on this.
