Not a bad idea! Im running the Kiox display on my Focus Jam2, but have moved it from the top of the steerer tube (Yikes! Vulnerable to crashes) to a handlebar clamp that locates the Kiox display to the rear of the left side of the handlebar and close to stem. It's much safer there than on top of the headset. Still a bit of eyesore, and personally I think the new top tube inserts that DJI Amflow have used (and perhaps intended by Bosch for the new Santa Cruz Vala, but not yet available) would be the best bet for getting rid of handlebar clutter while still retaining ride info at a glance.

Rocky Mountain and Specialized have some nice options with flat screen on top tube and minimal controls on handle bars.

Well for the comparison I'm looking as far up the track ahead of you as the camera will go so I noticed very little difference. As for size of display you are getting older the eyes are going diminish.............BUT its your bike and you are the one writing the cheques so its really up to you

Personally, I don't look at screens much. I just like a clean looking bike.

Looks great either way but I much prefer the new set up. I also really like the top cap. My Santa Cruz needs one

The caps were made by Kerikeri mtb club. Not sure if they are still doing them.

I wouldn’t have the Kiosk screen, probably get broken next time I bail, the 200 would be nice, but for the money I will stick to the standard remote on my Whyte, I like it simple, plus I’ve usually got my phone in backpack so can look at the flow app if I need to, you guys are looking fast 😊
@bestdayevermtb22 ай бұрын
I have a friend with a Whyte with no screen and he got the Purion 200 for it which is where I got the idea. I could have run with just the controller on the left but given the Purion has a screen, is the same size and looks better I made the change.

I have a complaint…. For your comparison video, when you showed us the Purion 300 it was easy to see while you were bombing down the trail on your own, but then when you showed us the Purion 200, Zak was in front of you nailing the trail and I was distracted by his incredible riding skills, so I didn’t even look at your “cockpit” 😅

I did exactly the same on my Bosch powered e-bike for the same reasons as yourself, it has made everything much tidier and provides all the data you require. My complaint with the Purion 200 is the way it mounts in comparison to the LED remote, it does not adjust from left to right which makes it harder to get it in just the right position. Additionally the band that wraps around the handlebars is fragile and is not replaceable when it gets ripped off in a crash, even with its downsides I much prefer the Purion 200.

I think Bosch makes great motors but still think they need to work on their controllers and displays.

My old stem Kiox mounted non smart system and only held on with its magnets , first crash snapped the legs off the rear of the kiox , mended the legs by building new legs and filing them to shape using five second fix, then made a mount to position it behind and just below the bars ,,,,, replaced the led controller on my newer bike smart system with the purion ,,,,much nicer as I wanted a clock lol , only thing i would have liked is the max speed feature but it wasn't a deal breaker

I think Bosch are working on a screen for the top tube. The DJI bike looks very cool in that department.

So I have a Strive:On with the Bosch motor and no display and I like the simplicity. I even have the micro controller so no display at all whatsoever. Now I also like to follow maps sometimes and also ride in the dark so I bought a quad lock out front v2 and went for a ride to try it out. Oh also haven’t GoPro mount under the out front mount so can put my light there albeit with an extension piece else it’s too close to the bars and doesn’t fit. Here’s the run… just running the flow app in cadence screen (I was trying out a smaller chainring) and having the screen on all the time. My iPhone battery got almost sucked dry in like 2 hours. That’s clearly not good if your iPhone is your first go to for first aid to call someone. To be clear, My iPhone wasn’t charging from the bike battery. So whilst I thought this could be a good idea I’m unsold on it. Thinking I’ve got a good light mount now but unconvinced of the usefulness of flow app running with screen on all the time.
@jxrxch2 ай бұрын
Oh and without your display it does look better but now I can’t freeze the video to see how fast your going over the jumps 😂

I have heard people say their phone is nearly dead when out on rides. Personally I almost never connect my phone even though the bike asks me too. I prefer to get constantly lost instead of using a map. Not sure what that says about me.🤔

Can I upgrade my Bosch Purion (it's the basic) one to a smart display the the Bosch Purion 200 so that I can use the Flow app? If not, what are my options given I have a $4000 bike with a Bosch Purion? Thank you.
@bestdayevermtb2Ай бұрын
I believe the Bosch smart system is not compatible with any older models. It is possible to replace the Purion system with a controller and a kiox screen if you want to do that. It is not the smart system, though, and I don't think you can use the flow app. Hope that helps.
@angelffalcon31342 ай бұрын
I have a kiox 300 like you did right in front of my stem. Then I got a burgtec stem and the kiox was blocking it. I just got a different bracket that moved the kiox to the side , behind the handlebar. On the left I have the bluetooth controller I like the new screen that is coming out with the 5gen bosch. Hope it's compatible with the 4gen
@bestdayevermtb22 ай бұрын
Yes the new screen looks good. I fitted my kiox behind and to the left of the stem on the last bike and did look at that for this one. Decided to try the purion instead and happy with result. Still think a integrated top tube screen is the way to go.
