Amazing, number 10 worked. Unscrewed the 8 screws, disconnected the ribbon connector turned on, turned off and unplugged, then connected the ribbon. I am a new spa user and been a sharp learning curve in these 2 days. I bought the St Moritz model over 2 years ago and never took it out of the box. Set it up yesterday and got the E02 error sorted that. Put protective cover over the lid and some weights to hold it down. Unfortunately the extreme heat in the sun, here in Malaga, caused the cover to melt together with the inflatable lid. When I took then apart the lid burst. Patched the punctures and disconnected the fittings in order to re pump up the lid. This failed due to another puncture. Then after doing this and reconnecting the lines, I got the 6cf error! No warranty now, so this fix was a life saver, many thanks.

Yeah I just got a new one, we already did a lot of the steps here since we got an electrician in the house and we even changed the plug that goes into the socket to make sure as well (something not mentioned here), and got the same issue. so we just got a new one, and boom, works fine. refunded the old one, miami, (it was really small anyway), and bought a much larger one and boom it worked instantly and no issues ever since.

I had this exact fault... we bought the 2021 Vegas spa with new style pump, I plugged the pump into my outdoor double socket that I had used previously with the older model egg style pump (miami) never once had an issue or that fault with that pump, ive kept it as back up. With the new style pump kept getting this fault, I checked all my ground connections everything seemed fine. The only thing I could think of was our garden decking that the spa is on is a good 15/20 metre run, ive installed an earth rod to my shed where my consumer unit is and hey presto its working a dream!

Great video. I have done all of the following Changed plug Changed socket Checked wiring Checked earth Removed the controller panel and re soldered connections Removed egg and checked all connections It turned out to be the heating element has blown. I got to this finding because it only ever threw a code up when I pressed the heat button. If I turned it on and cycled the filter the air and the temperature buttons and it never brought up the code. As soon as I hit the heater button it would throw up the code. I have a element on order now. And in the meantime I'm heating it with my deisel water heater

interesting reading, ive tried loads of sockets, checked the wiring inside the rcd, one thing I noticed is the cable is compacted about 6 inches from the rcd, looks like its been jammed in a door, tempted to cut this bit out see if that clears it, else its taking he cover off the egg next to check that ribbon.

Quick tip to try before you start that solved my issue and I haven't seen mentioned anywhere. Try plugging a high power item such as a heater in to the same circuit that your pump is on. Apparently the voltage to my house is just above the pumps operating voltage and switching on the heater before turning on the pump lowers it enough.

Adding in some of my finding whilst troubleshooting this 6CF / GCF error, Spa was working perfectly fine in an extension lead when first installed and ran for roughly 5 months. I then didn't use the Spa over the summer so was unplugged and packed away. Just recently I plugged the pump / Egg / Unit back into the same extension lead and to my surprise... GCF Fault code. .Tried sockets in the house. .Tried sockets directly next to the Fuse Board .Tried other houses .Tried Changing the RCD to a standard plug. .Tried Sanding the plug contacts .Tried Disconnecting the Top Computer as suggested in this video .Tried Everything !! By this stage i had the top half of the Egg / Unit off and was about ready to order a new mother board from eBay as i could hear the relay tripping and then the GCF error code would immediately display. As a test, I unscrewed the Earth wires that attach to the top of the heater inside the Egg / Unit, I then powered up the unit and as expected was greeted with the GCF error as now there is no earth connected. I repeated this, Powering the unit off and then back on to display the Error GCF code. I then turned off the Unit, re connected the Earth wires and then powered on the Unit back up and hay presto, no error message and displaying the temperature... pressed the air pump button and all was working. As a test i then turned it off and then back on again in the same socket inside the house and the GCF error code displayed... I then repeated my steps and removed the earth wire, powered on the unit, off, on, off, connected the earth, powered it up and it came back to life. I then moved the unit to my extension lead and the original install position where it had worked 6 months ago, and error code was displayed when plugged in. I then went through my process of turning the unit off, disconnecting the earth inside the Egg, Turning the unit on and off twice, re connecting the earths and then as before everything is working.... in its original position.... in an extension lead. Hope this Helps some more people with this GCF / 6CF fault code.

This is a brilliant and odd situation, similar to mine. I (step 10 I think) connected and re-connected the ribbon cable, to get a similar result. Which i guess does a similar thing to what you have done. Try the ribon cable next time you have the issue and I will try the earth to the heater and we can swap earthing story's to see if our fixes work for each other. You are a legend for taking the time to type the above. Hopefully it will help people.

I bought one that i have been using for over 7 years brand new from a reputable seller that came with a 3 pin moulded plug. It only has live and neutral conductors. You don't need earth for an RCD to operate correctly as long as the socket it is connected to has a ground. The rcd tests and works how it should. And i believe there is an rcd in the pump unit too.

Really useful video some great things to consider that I would have never thought of. Some ideas I will keep in mind here as ours is still under a warranty. My problem is that the pump turns off but does have power to the pump just no display/icons lit (so green power light, filter lights all go off along with digits on temperature display) but it doesn’t seem to have tripped at the RCD. I have logged a call with Lay Z Spa today and am in process of the videos and troubleshooting so wish me luck. That said, what would you say this could be causing power to the pump but nothing tripping in the outside socket or house etc?.. any advice on experiences here welcome 🤔💭

There is a RCD molded to the plug, so this has kind of double protection, and the GCF error means it wont power on unless earth is detected to stop you being electrocuted. OK so these, or some of these may work for some people, but the real issue is that the pump needs to be properly earthed and grounded. So....look underneath the pump and you'll see a small nut and washer for a ground earth cable. Attach one, sink a grounding rod (about £10 from screwfix) into the ground and connect your earth cable to it securely. No more grounding error and no need to dismantle a perfectly good pump.

I have had my pump replaced by Bestway because of this GCF issue. But soon after, the new pump started displaying it too. I live in a farm so suspect that we have a poor earth rod at the bottom of the electric supply pole. It’s very old. Sometimes we have no issues with GCF, but some days it just won’t work. My guess is down to how wet the earth is and how efficient the earth rod is working. The long and short of it is, I’m getting pissed off with this problem and wish there was a way to bypass the issue somehow inside the pump. Not everyone has 100% efficient electrics.
@gravysnakes

I agree. Mine also randomly gets GCF. We don't have an earth rod as we have a bonded earth, so we know its not any fault. It's basically that the sensor is too sensitive on the Bestway!

easiest solution...... take an extention cord, cut it, reconnect ( properly ) take the groundwire and just connect that groundwire to a metal pin which you put in the ground. doesn't have to be copper, doesn't have to be fancy, any piece of metal is fine. works fine.....

Does not work for me unfortunately. We are unable to use ground rods here. The ground here is so bad we have to use Neutral bonded earth. I did try exactly what you are suggesting and it didn't work for me. We tried a 2 meter copper rod (which was a nightmare to get in the ground) and (even) our house RCD's would not operate correctly, when we upgraded the board (due to the earth here). Its common to all the houses round here as its built on gravel. If you are outside the UK, this is the grounding types we use TN-S, TN-C-S and TT. I talk about this issue in the video and the impedance we now have here, which is about as low as it goes. Really appreciate your comment hopefully it will work for someone.
