👉How to descale your Lay Z Spa: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZpjUopqsZr-Cetk
@lauriuotinen69939 ай бұрын
This was incredibly helpful, thank you! In short: 1. disconnect pump, 2. turn it sideways, 3. unscrew bottom screws, 4. fill the input tube with water while the pump is sideways to localize the leak, 5. in my case it was coming from the water pump, 6. open water pump, 7. clean and apply Permatex Form-A-Gasket 3 or similar liquid gasket product, 8. wait to cure, 9. fill the tubes to localize the leak or determine no leak, 10. done!

Just bought a second hand LAY Z spa where just found the pump leaking (think the seller was genuine, just the unit had been stored for some time), this was an excellent tutorial, well explained (now if you could just email my wife to explain that pump parts all over the kitchen is a good thing then that would be great :-) )

As you said, leak was exactly where you said it was, flow sensor. all sealed up with silicone now, just waiting for it to harden then will test again and fingers crossed you have saved me a ton of money, cheers buddy

Just wanted to say a huge thank you for making such informative videos. This video got my Pump working again PERFECTLY. It’s genuinely running quieter than it did brand new. (This is my 3rd LayZSpa in 5 years) Your guidance gave me the confidence to “have a go” and replace the seals (I also used the gasket maker/sealant too) Hoping to send you some money for a beer/coffee asap.

As someone who has worked in Industrial maintenance for several years its pretty obvious these units are not built to be easily maintained by the end user, or what would also be good would be a refurb service by the manufacturer, but to make this economically viable the unit would need a full redesign to make all the potential failure points easily accessed. Our throw away world means the slightest hint of trouble its £300 for a new one. Great video dude thanks for sharing and i'll save this for future reference when i spring a leak.

Nice thorough video. I've been servicing the earlier 'egg' models since owning a lay z spa for a few years. I like that they're completely modular, but they do need attention periodically. One potential leak source you overlooked in this video is the non-return valv in the air inlet of the tub itself. The mushroom in the pump is supposed to be backup to this. By the way, I've had success replacing a perished mushroom valve with a child's party balloon, a much cheaper option than replacing it.

just wanted to say thanks for taking the time with this vid. My heater died (kept tripping) and I was also slowly losing water (and my mind looking for holes in the tub itself!). I followed your instructions and I'm back in action once again! Also to note, the white wires connecting from the bottom of the heater to the PCB don't have a specific order from my experience but to each their own. :) Thanks again!

I got a little carried away trying to clean out my spa. It’s been in a new location where no matter what I did it was getting far too much leaf litter. I’ve had it for a little over a year and have never been able to use filter cartridges without the E02 error cutting out every single time I turned it on. When I opened it up the cables were going all over the place but overall the inside seems pretty clean after a thorough cleaning. Putting it back together. Oh my… I was completely lost! So I disconnected all the electrics so they were not making it impossible to remove or replace the parts. I’m unsure if I’ve got the convex pump thing in the right way or the right place. Here’s hoping. In any case. I truly hope it will work with filter cartridges now. But just in case I’ve moved it under cover. Thank you so much for this incredibly helpful video 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Fantastically helpful video that cured my leak from underneath the pump, however, I’m left with another problem that is causing a real headache. Since curing the leak ( the seals to the heater were almost disintegrated ), we have used the tub a couple of times up to 40 degrees no problem; now though, after the tub being inactive for a couple of weeks, upon trying to heat the water following a water change, I got the dreaded E02 error code. After checking pretty much everything that Lay-z-Spa advise, I was quite convinced that the bottom tube ( from the filter ) was squashed so much that maybe water flow was restricted. Crudely, I forced in an 18mm plastic pipe to try and restore its shape. Whilst that pipe is now something like normal, I reactivated the heater / pump, it took forever to get to 26 degrees before the E02 appeared again. I’m almost out of ideas, other than to take the motor unit apart again and start delving further, without really knowing what I’m looking for. Does anyone have any helpful suggestions, please?

After watching this video, I took the cover off mine and saw leaks at the end of the heater ends, same as in this video. I ordered the gaskets and a descaler kit. When the gaskets came in, I took the pump further apart and found the aluminum housing of my heater has corroded completely through the walls. This was a new spa and used less one year. Very disappointed with the quality of this pump. Great video and explanations though!

Just bought a new unit for my tub. There were little metal flakes in the water and when my mechanic son opened it the heater unit was eroding, it made of cheap aluminum and erodes easily. @@AbouttheHouse0 I purchased the easy-scale kit that you posted.. My question is how many times do you think NOW we should be descaling it.. You mentioned in your other video this was your first after 2 years. How about a 50/50 vinegar/water?
@AbouttheHouse0 Жыл бұрын
@@Rich-tc2lh Based on what I saw in this strip down, I would say to perform a descale every time you change the water, so roughly every 2-3 months. Use a basic, moderate mix of descaler. The white powder is definitely aluminium chloride - ie the chlorine eats away at the ally just as oxygen does with steel. I've never used vinegar for descaling, but people say it's effective.

Thanks for this, I pulled my pump apart this afternoon to investigate the issue, found it appears to be either the pump from the bottom or the hose up to the heater unit thats leaking on mine, was curious how to disassemble, appears your one has the ability to remove the clamps compared to mine, looks like I'll be investing in some 17-30mm clamps and pulling the unit apart and try repairing the seals.

I can hear it turn on and off via the switch on the control panel, but the water isn't heating. I have checked all connections and they seem spot on. It is possible I didn't put the 4 wires from the heating element to the circuit board in the same position (I forgot to label them), but understood it shouldn't matter which order they go in. Is this accurate or should I continue to try all possible combinations of the 4 wires?

I am having an issue re-hooking up the heater connectors to their proper slots on the circuit board, as I was unable to mark each heater connector, as my wires are completely black. Not white like yours. Would you have any way to check which wire connects to its proper slot; the last four on the right on the circuit board. I guessed when I re-hooked the four wires from the heater to, what I thought were, their proper slots, but the heater does not seem to want to kick in now. I've obviously NOT got the connectors in their proper order, so I really need some help. Thank you again.

Can you help me please… I have a lay z spa, the first issue was that the heater stopped heating the tub. I purchased an easy scale and descaled the unit which seemed to fix the issue. I left the tub heating for 24 hours. Went to use it after this period and noticed the temperature had dropped and seemed to have stopped heating. I chose to use it anyway all be it at a slightly lower temperature. Whilst relaxing and enjoying the air jets they suddenly stopped, the motor was still running but the pitch of it had changed. It sounded almost like a blocked vacuum cleaner. I then smelt a burning smell, I felt the air pipe coming from the unit where it screws to the tub and I was very warm. I switched the air jets off and left it for an hour or so. I tried again around an hour later and the air pump wasn’t working at all. Would you say that’s it for the unit? It’s only 2 years old and hasn’t really had very much use.

What a shame Bestway is manufacturing these pumps using cheap aluminium heating elements, that will corrode easily, forcing people to either buy a 300 pound brand new pump unit or resort to complicated and risky self-repair methods. Also I believe, that this kind of refurbishing can only be temporary, because after a while corrosion will eat through the body of the aluminium element. Speak about unnecessarily being forced to produce trash by a manufacturer. If only an element would be available made from acid resistant alloy. Problem gone forever. Still, a brilliant video, learned a lot about the inner works of the pump. Took mine together as well based on this, just to see the horrific pitting on the ends of the aluminium block of a 7 months old and already leaking pump.
