Numenor is fake stone TV sets, printed flexible armours and people dressed in curtains

I'm constantly amazed how small and underwhelming everything seems in ROP Middle Earth (not to mention criminally cheap). Numenor is reduced to a small island of silly simpletons with an armarda of 3 ships for their armies of dozens. Just end this embarrassment already.

Still too many ships to deliver one dirty village from a bunch of orks 😂

All the sets in Numenor are so small. Do they not have large open spaces? Parks, exercise yards for the army? This version of Mid Earth is so puny, the populations are so tiny, even the orc army coming to Eregion looks like it has less than 100 orcs 😂

I know compare that to Jacksons armys and places they looked massive.

It's the same with every location. Lindon, the Grey Havens, the southlands village and orc encampment from the first series. Every single time they show a wide sweeping shot and then it's just a room or a market square with a few people mingling about. The grey havens are a few boats moored by a few buildings. Nothing seems alive, including middle earth in its entirety. It all seems empty and small scale. Numenor is at its absolute zenith when Ar Pharazon takes power and are so fearsome entire orc armies scatter before them when they come to middle earth and Sauron surrenders without resistance. The show has done such an unbelievably poor job depicting the Numenoreans it's hard to imagine them striking fear into anyone, although if Sauron's forces are a couple of hundred orcs as they seem to be maybe it does make sense.

So let me get this straight. -Beta goes into a crowd in a temple with no real back up. -Fight breaks out, Soldier has Beta dead to rights, but then stops and drops his sword. -Beta gets up and stabs Soldier, who just spared his life, when his back is turned. -Beta walks away from a whole crowd of people who just watched him dishonorably murder their compatriot, and _no one_ does anything? Even if they don't kick his teeth in, they have a large group of witnesses to the son of the usurper murdering an unarmed soldier. Parade him through the streets and watch support for the citizen-murdering new regine crumble. I refuse to believe the writers are even trying.

13:20 This is just further proof that they're going off of PJ's trilogy more than the actual books. In the RotK film, when Pippin says 'I didn't think it would end this way' as Gondor is under siege. Gandalf tells him 'Death is just another path we all must take...' and then says the same line they say in this scene. so much for 'back to the book, back to the book, back to the book' huh guys?

It's completely mucked up. The Fall of Numenor and the Rings are over a thousand years apart. In the first episode the tavern punk yelled at Elf guy that the people who sided with Morgoth died a thousand years ago. Even in the show time makes no sense as people either pop over the map or take ages depending on the story.

I do hate this show for moral, spiritual, lore-based and drama-related reasons to say the least. But I sometimes suspect people using the expression "beta males" inadvertently out themselves as "beta males". How so? Because they often seem to follow or admire someone they see as an "alpha male" and if we understand the metaphor we will recall that at any given moment there is only one "alpha male" per group. The "alpha" is the one on top of the pile. But Tolkien didn't believe that we as human beings (by the influence of the "Sanctifying Grace" in which he believed) were bound to live according to such animalistic tendencies. That is the way of life of the Orcs, isn't it?

Hold on. One of the characters is named Valandil? *sigh* I'm willing to bet that they're trying do more "'member-berries." Valandil is the name of Isildur's youngest son and the King of Arnor after Isildur was killed. Valandil means "lover of the Valar." It would be odd that a random character in Numenor in the period that Rings of Power supposedly takes place (though, we don't know what that is).

Time is irrelevant in this joke of a show
@Chociewitka3 ай бұрын
@@RoninDave No, Isildur is a mortal, they cannot make him live for millenia. In the book he lives 234 years before he is ambushed. He dies 2nd 3rd Age, 2 years after he cut the ring from Sauron's finger. If RoP changes his livespan at all, it will make his life shorter, not longer - to make it "more relatable". This mean the Fall of Numenor, building of Gondor and Arnor, building of Barad-Dur, the One Ring, Sauron's wars an reign of horror - als have to be done before the battle of the Last Alliance which is a mere 100-200 years from now.
@TurinStark53 ай бұрын
@@Chociewitka I don't think RoP cares if it's in 1600 or 3200 of the Second Age. They just joined all the events of the second Age into a single storyline. I'm certain they'll "build" Gondor in few episodes (if at all)

Students in the year 2120 are going to study the pre war era of 2015 to 2029 and try to understand how half the population was tricked into letting their enemy take over their culture, all forms of entertainment, movies, shows, games, sports and they took it all. They forced their agendas onto culture and destroyed all of their charrished material. They made material on purpose and knew their enemy would cry about. They knew we would do nothing about it. The entire generation of people that did not act, they had all the warning signs and did nothing. They will study our forms of entertainment before the war to understand how the war started. They will come to the conclusion we are the weakest generation of the millennium. We deserved to parrish in large numbers on battlefields. We are cowards.

I also found the scene in the shrine to be nauseating. Not least for their cannibalization of Tolkien's words (and their, frankly, beautiful [if misplaced] usage in the PJ Trilogy). However, in all fairness to the writers, I think JD Payne is a Mormon. Whether you want to call his faith "true" is one matter - but his practice of his faith is another. I just don't want us to be sneaking potshots in among legitimate criticisms.
