Going to the dark side riding a 4 stroke... it's been a while since I rode one...
I must admit that I'm not the big bore 4 stroke type of rider, BUT, there is a but! The new 2023 Beta, with its newly designed radiator shrouds, slim ergonomics, traction control and the super light feel had made its impression on me straight away... I felt that I could empty a full tank of juice in soft sand, whoops and generally rough tracks and still feel pretty fresh and that I could ride more. On my 2 banger, I'd usually be a little more knackered after sucking dry a tank of juice in this type of terrain. The TC was noticeable on the hardpacked tracks and I could corner way faster than I usually do with tonnes of confidence. It also helped in the steep climbs. I would switch it off in the fast sections of soft sand whoops as there is too much wheel spin and it doesn't seem to work for you but against you. The suspension on the standard model which I rode in this video is the ZF front and back. They felt pretty good, better on the hardpack but still worked well in the sand and I could ride at pace, unless we're talking about huge soft sand whoops in faster sections, that's where the bike felt a little unsettled which is fully understandable as there are very few set ups including race suspension set ups, that'll feel confident inspiring on these soft whoops sections. The verdict is that the Beta RR430 is smooth, powerful but not aggressive, very nimble and has a very stable chassis, brakes are sharp too. I love the ergos, nice and narrow with a FANTASTIC standing up riding posture (I'm 184cm tall) With proven reliability and relatively low buy price, the Beta should be high on your wish list!
Happy riding!
