How fast can a Betaflight "expert" set up a bind n fly quad. Let's find out the bare minimum you need to do to get into the air.
If you want a more complete tutorial, here's a link into my "$120 drone" playlist. Starting with this video, we go through the steps of setting Betaflight up. Some details will be different if you're using different hardware, but the general process is the same, and I designed this playlist to be a good primer for those getting started.

In the beginning I would have written "dump all" in the CLI and save it to a text file as a backup. Never know when these manufacturers use an unofficial target.

This was intense! I learned something today much faster than I'm accustomed to. You don't have to lie though JB we all know you fly you some horizon mode when the cameras aren't on lol.

Josh, it takes me a week to update a new frsky radio and set up a quad in betaflight. And then a few test flights to make sure everything is functioning. (frsky qx7 failed to turn on) and instead of just jumping into a jumper or radiomaster, I knew I was making a mistake by going frsky again but I couldn't help but fly what I am use to.

I understand the feeling but buying my radiomaster was the best decision I made in fpv in 3 years. It allowed me to go with crossfire but also still fly all my frsky stuff. Granted my frsky is pre access which really screwed it all up.

how is there not a menu option on the DJI goggles to bind at this point? Love my digital but really needs some TLC on the UI and OSD elements

Just did this last night on two 80mm builds and not counting the firmware update, each probably took about 10 minutes. Had OS settings saved like you, as well as VTX tables, and some other CLI stuff. For PID tuning, I go with UAVTechs defaults to start. Once you run through things a few times, its really not hard these days. Tuning on the other hand takes time still for me.

I don't turn off the accelerometer because sometimes I do use Angle mode (not often) and on modern processors there is plenty of CPU% to run the accelerometer process.

@@JoshuaBardwell ahh.. I was told it would fly better without it. thought it might of been interfering in the PID loop or something along those lines. I do like the to have angle on the switch in case of VTX breakup.

On older FC like F3 and F1, the accelerometer process could eat enough cycles that turning it off made a difference. On F4 and F7, they are typically fast enough that the cycles saved by turning off the accelerometer is not significant.

Joshua, Please help....I ordered the jumper t lite cc2500 (frsky) version and a mobula7 v2 with a frsky NON EU receiver. Is that compatible?? I have no clue what non eu is and if its compatible with the cc2500 frsky version jumper tlite radio.

Can you use the googles with multiple quads/air units without binding them or do each quad needs to be bonded to the googles. Also does the quad need to be bound onto the Dji remote control

@@martin19117 I figure you have to rebind every time you want to fly another quad, i think it makes the most sense. When i have multiple dji air unit drones i'l try and remember to give an update here ;)

It's a bind n fly. PIDs and filters are set at the factory.

The almost exact same process took me 30+ minutes if I'm lucky, 5 or 10 minutes more if I'm on speedybee. 5.5 minutes is just insane.

I have never understood why people struggle with BF setup so bad. Sute PID / filter tuning is a different story, but setup is pretty simple really. People act like you are writing code or something.

To be fair, binding the DJI goggles/controller should not be considered as Betaflight setup.. i mean it takes the same time across any firmware!

I'm by far no expert and have only bought 2 bnf so far. A lizard 95 and a mob6. After a year of this covid crap, I can now setup a scratch build on about 2 minutes or less lol.

You skipped the part where your "BnF" needs firmware updates but doesn't come with the programming cable, which also isn't sold domestically. Weeks slower than JB.

Nice, but like a large percentage of people, they have the motors set up running the WRONG direction. :) I fly everything props out (the only way to fly).

I paste rates in from the same text file as OSD but it wasn't in the video.

I'd say, if you're an expert, even tuning is not an issue anymore and can be done in 2 packs.
