I grew up in a cult not unlike this one. There is nothing you can say to her that she will hear. I guess you have to just drop breadcrumbs so she can find her own way out of the mess she's in. Probably point to biblical passages that allow for divorce. Because her branch of the religion doesn't allow divorce (I was raised a form of Catholic, there is no divorce in Catholicism, either)... but she's hardwired to believe the bible so you'd have to show her parts of the bible where divorce was allowed when husbands cheat. Sounds like she might well be in that grey space, now, hopefully.

I would suggest that she seek therapy from a therapist who is not connected to the Duggars religion. She must put her children and their safety before her own and her husband's. Joshua will be on the register for life. This prevents him from being in a home where minor children live. He has failed to admit his crimes/sins. He will be prevented from having open access to computers. One wrong step and he will be returned to prison. Is that the life Anna wants?

Right? I'm right there with ya. Ted Bundy volunteered on a suicide hotline overnights. VOLUNTEERED! Saved lives!! And the point is, so what. Doesn't change what he did because he wanted to, he liked to do it to self-gratify, he did it without regard to the damage it does to the victims and his own family, and, he knew and knows it was wrong which is the reason for the secrecy, hiding, and maintaining his innocence until right before his execution, when he tried to trade the REAL STORY for more time to stay alive. Josh will never change. Anna is not capable of supervising him every minute and he knows he's got a "soft target" with her. How many times does he have to lie and betray this woman for her to set a hard boundary to protect her own children from their pedophile dad?

This is why these hyper-religious environments are so ripe for abuse. Everyone there assumes that believing in god the same way they do is enough proof that someone is a good person. Predators use this assumption of morality to shroud their crimes from scrutiny. They also use the fact that the children are kept ignorant of sex education, everything is too taboo to talk about healthily, and their worldview is kept small, because it’s easy to take advantage of kids raised like that, and it’s easy to groom the adults to excuse it. It’s completely fucked.

If I could give Anna advice, as a Christian, it says in the Bible not to commit adultery-it breaks the bonds of your covenant of the marriage to God. Also, it says in the Bible not to be unequally yoked in marriage-she is still under the “umbrella” of God’s protection. To speak to someone in a cult like that, I think she would be open if you show scripture. It also says in the Bible those who harm children should drown in the sea (don’t quote me if I’m wrong, I am going by memory and I could be incorrect but it’s something like that)…..as a Christian, her husband broke the marriage bond when he cheated; therefore she is released from the vows.

She probably just now realizes how screwed up the situation is and may be overwhelmed. Her skill sets may be limited, and this is a daunting task. It takes time to deconstruct from a high-demand religion and learn new skills after being taught your value as a woman is child production. How does she get a job when her education is in ATI Wisdom Booklets? Who takes care of the kids? Michelle 'Momma' Duggar? Living in the Duggar Compound doesn't help, she is dependent on Jim Bob. Josh’s voice singing the loyalty song is so haunting. Knowing he sung that to a very young Anna only to put her through hell now for almost 1 1/2 decades. I feel so strongly that when Josh found out that she came from a family where her dad would preach at prisons/jails that he targeted her specifically because she would be the one the least likely to leave him even if he did heinous things. That he could still do what he wanted with little to no consequences (which eventually caught up with him through the feds). Unlike the Holts daughter who would have had much more agency and will to leave.

I used to work for a large county’s CPS. Under our protocol, Anna would have had all her kids detained for bringing them in close proximity to Josh (at the prison visit). Anna would be mandated to receive therapy and go through a SO course and parenting classes. She should not allowed to have her kids until a judge deems that she has successfully completed all her courses and shows she has recognized what it takes to protect her children.

@jlcmsw
@jlcmsw 6 ай бұрын
@@thepitpatrol it’s illegal to assault people, right? There’s no state or territory in the US that says it’s permissible to hurt another human being unless it’s self defense. Doesn’t that population include children? Children, whether you like it or not, have the right to be protected as well. It concerns me when people think they can treat their children like property. Yes, you can physically discipline your child to a certain extent. However, when you punish a baby to the point you give them a spiral fracture, it’s absolutely not permissible! You can’t do whatever you want to your spouse or partner either. Again, the consequences would be assault or worse. Past behavior is a predictor of future behavior. Therefore, if Josh Duggar violated his siblings, cheated on his wife multiple times, one of those times being with a prostitute that he physically banged around (yes, even those people have rights too), you’d better believe Josh did something to his own children! In fact, it was law enforcement’s fault for not cross reporting to CPS in a case like this. I’m shocked the cops didn’t get seriously reprimanded for this. Now I’m afraid those children have been groomed and brainwashed to say daddy is a saint because Anna and that cult has had sufficient time to tell the children what to say. There are several jobs/professionals that are mandated to report suspected child abuse. A suspicion. That’s all one needs. The cult and law enforcement failed these children because they are both mandated reporters. Especially with all the sick evidence they found from Josh, the cop should have immediately called CPS. I don’t work for them anymore because it’s an extremely high stress job and most of my coworkers had to be on antidepressants to perform the job. However, I 100% commend the men and women who work for that agency. It’s thankless and you have to put up with administration that reprimands you to the point of tears. You may think only needing a suspicion of abuse is extreme, but most of the time those suspicions are correct. Children deserve a voice. They deserve to be protected from abuse and no you can’t do whatever you want to them. They’re human beings.

What kills me is that Josh was also caught trying to reach out to sex workers and connect with someone who wanted to cheat. He was very disloyal to Anna. Her loyalty makes no sense. She isn’t even connected to her own feelings. She should feel betrayed, disgusted and angry. The same people who abuse women and children or cover for those that do are the same individuals who run for public office and seek to control the lives of others. Anna’s children are going to grow up and speak out. Because something ain’t right with their parents. Josh committed a heinous crime and it’s weird to see some members of his righteous family act as if he wasn’t supposed to pay for his crimes. The children involved deserved justice. The hard truth that we all need to grapple about Anna is that after all the evidence presented-at this point Anna is complicit. I have little sympathy for her. She wants to live in her Josh bubble.

I served jury duty for a CP case. The amount of digital forensics and effort put in to pin point who downloaded or accessed those files is really thorough. I can't say every case is handled as thoroughly as the one I sat through but it was very interesting to see it all laid out because there were alot of things/methods used not explained or shown in crime shows. I would never want to serve on such a case ever again though. We had to watch clips of some of the videos. We were told they were the mildest. I was physically sick and couldn't eat for days. I had no clue they would actually show us the material. It stays with you. I can't imagine constantly having to see that (investigators, judges, ect).

Anna was born into knowing nothing but to be robotic , she denied her own feelings. Josh is a God to her. Now Jimbob controls her every move . She has no means to independitly support 7 children !!! Jimbob supports her and her kids. He will cut her off if she ever speaks up against them. She's in cult Daddy Jimbobs trap. It would take a lot of therapy to deprogram Anna. Remember Jill Duggar is no longer allowed to be near her family for speaking out . Jimbob cut Jill out of her inheritance , he's made threats against Jill. He tricked Jill into a contact to do the new show " Counting on " she was grown and married on the new show . Jimbob never allowed Jill a dime for the new show and she was the star of the new show. She had to sue him and she got very little money from the suit. I think Jana Duggar is very unhappy and is also in the trap. People say they think Jana is gay. I believe Jana doesn't date / courtship because she's raised so many siblings that she does not want to marry and raise a bunch of kids again.

Even Michael Pearl said the same thing about Josh. Supposedly he said that Josh couldn’t be rehabilitated and needed to be removed from the other children. I can understand parents loving their “sick” child, but why did loving Josh mean they had to sacrifice their female children??? Joy Anna was just a toddler when Josh hurt her. I pray she remembers nothing about that assault, but her parents had a duty to protect her. Coddling the abuser and neglecting the abused only perpetuates the damage. Josh needed intensive mental health treatment not a labor camp!!!

As for Michael Pearl, I think this is the one and only time I can agree with him on anything - especially in the case of Josh! He belongs in prison and the people who support him should leave him by himself. Anna needs to be on her way and go it alone with her children. She needs to get more self respect and self confidence and self esteem. I don't think she knows her worth or value because she is living with fundamental religious people who have so many laws they certainly don't appear very Christian. She needs to run from them. Go to school, get a life and get on with it. She is being brainwashed by the parents of the sex offender and other fundamentals. Divorce in the Bible is correct and right under certain circumstances. Remember its men that wrote the Bible who were Jewish and/or Messianic Jews and it was a male orientated society back then and they wrote the books of the Old Covenant and the New Covenant. It is so disgusting that Josh has tried to pin his crimes on others, when those people have proven it's not possible for them to have done them, just because they have criminal records. Just because you're convicted of one crime does not mean you're capable of others. Isn't that what Josh has tried to say about himself, that just because he molested his sisters and the babysitter it doesn't mean he is also capable of looking at the materials? Ah yes, everything with him is "special" and screw everyone else. Also yes, I feel for Anna. One thing not regularly brought up is that in the IBLP any moral/sexual failings of the husband are the fault of the wife. If she was a good wife and giving him everything he needed, then he wouldn't do those things. It's her sin, not his, after all he's just under God so he's innocent of even his own actions. Therefore, Anna cannot believe he's guilty, because if he is then it's her fault and the sin is on her soul. That's a level of cognitive dissonance that few could overcome, even if they weren't raised in this and surrounded by it every minute of every day.

I could not understand why she would stay. I have to wonder what she knew. We found out during the trial that he had Covenant Eyes on his devices since 2013 That means that she was aware that he was not the man that he pretended to be when he was making all those speeches for the FRC. She knew that he was lying. I now have to wonder if she had some idea that he was having sex with other women. The fact that her father worked in prisons and had to have come into contact with men who were sexual deviants he has to have some idea that they don't change. Yet he was happy to marry his daughter to someone who could molest his own sisters all of whom were very young. I have run out of patience with Anna. If she were to leave Josh she would have so much support. she has family that would help her. Even her sisters-in-law would help her she has no reason no to leave. Honestly defense lawyers have a hard time- you have to consider the fact that they are charged with making sure the state, officers involved in the investigation, and prosecution does every step of their job correctly to preserve the rights of the person they're representing. It's such a massively important role in our legal system because often times as much as WE hate the defendant it's a powerfully important role to keep safe the people who are accused. Not everyone in the defendant seat is a Josh Duggar and yet they can be painted as such in the media and by the prosecution. Don't get me wrong tho I wanted Josh tossed where he won't harm others but man I just have a lot of feelings for Defense attorney's because they have to do their utmost to set aside their beliefs to make sure they are keeping the rights of their client in tact its not an easy job for sure it really is an art form!

Having come from a pretty twisted dysfunctional family, I am well-aware of how it feels to be exhorted to “think about the good things” an abusive person did. That makes it all worse. That makes it all evil. That means that you suddenly realize everything kind they did was to make it hurt more when they betrayed you.

Phenomenally good reporting, as always, my friend! In case you don't remember, I first landed on your channel because of your Duggar content, and it's my not-so-secret rabbit hole/obsession, so I have followed the case very very very closely over the years. I thought I'd actually seen and heard it all (and I follow it daily) but you reported on every single thing I'd heard (and correctly, I might add) and then topped it off with the audio from the appeals, which I'd never heard, but were absolutely fascinating. Justin Gelfand sounded like such and absolute idiot at trial, it was nice to see he took a solid kick at the can on the appeal... even though it was unsuccessful. We in the snark community quipped at how bad Josh's legal representation was and how THAT'S what a million dollar defence looks like ?!?! But they were counting on the Caleb Williams stuff to be admitted and when it wasn't, they didn't have a plan B which was why they looked like idiots in the trial proper. Thanks again for all your stellar reporting and distilling and compilation. This was A+ and I'm a [superfan?] (that's totally the wrong word, but you know what I mean LOL) so I should know. You didn't put a foot wrong in this coverage.

Having 7 kids to raise by herself might just make her strong enough to leave. Praying that she does.

Janny 3103, Anna's father did NOT "force" her to marry Josh, because the marriages are semi-arranged, meaning that potential future spouses CAN say no! Kaeleigh Holt said no to Josh and Marjorie Jackson said no to Josiah! The IBLP cult doesn't allow divorce, despite a few of Anna's siblings doing so! She has to leave the cult first in order to divorce Josh, but she STILL won't do it, because she loves him TOO MUCH more than their 7 kids, and it's absolutely disgusting! I DO agree with you that her father is a creep, and so is Jim Bob! This cult is patriarchal, and that's why girls and women are treated so badly! Anna bringing all seven goddamn children to visitation brings up an interesting question: is it ethical to bring children to visit their imprisoned parent? Can they consent to this sort of life experience? Is it more traumatizing to be in a prison visitation center every weekend, versus not seeing the parent at all? I guess it depends on the crime, in Josh’s case he should not be allowed to see or speak to the children in any format.

The second you touch a child or view cp you are beyond help in my opinion, you've chosen to give into that urge rather than seeking help and I don't see that changing. In my understanding I don't believe God would be "angry with you" for leaving a man who harms children for sexual pleasure and if he would then why would you want to worship him? Look up any Bible verse on harming children... if religion is her excuse for forgiving him then she is sorely mislead.

Thank you so much for leaving in the audio of court proceedings! You let the info speak for itself and present evidence of both sides. It is so abundantly clear this man is guilty of a disgusting, heinous, irredeemable crime and regardless of what god he believes in he will have to answer for it if not during life then when he meets his maker. I truly hope he never knows peace.

Anna would help herself and her kids if she got a real (read: not religious affiliated) college education. She would quickly realize the control she has been under...at that point she may be able to make some responsible decisions for her and her children...I hope she is able to find her way away from this horrific situation...💔💔💔

I just feel so bad for the kids. They're gonna wake up one day and see their dad on the internet and on the news for the crimes he committed. I hope Anna can genuinely help them begin processing things before they discover it for themselves. Ik there's no way to avoid the trauma, but they don't have to be alone; they should have their mom there for them. Instead, she's prioritizing protecting Josh and she will have to pay for her own actions one day.

If Amy really means what she says I'm wondering what her plan of action would be? Is she willing or able to take on the housing for Anna and her 7 kids? Then there's the financial responsibilities of supporting a family twice the size of her own. Sure Anna could write a book and go on a promotion tour, but I can't see that happening. Currently Anna is traumatized and should not try to make any major changes until she is in a good place mentally. Then there's those people out there that have nefarious motives. I think Amy falls into that category. Amy wants any attention she can get and using Anna to further her own agenda doesn't seem to be beneath Amy's moral code. I wish Anna would leave Josh and the whole family. However as a DV survivor I know it's more complex then simply walking away.

I agree. Amy and her mom’s updates on Anna felt like blatant virtue signaling. If she truly wanted to help, there would be more effort in showing Anna that they’re a safe support group. That includes some private conversation, not blasting it online like old ppl on facebook

If I was Anna even if I wanted to leave I wouldn’t trust Amy or her mother either. Her brother offered help after the Ashley Madison scandal and probably would help if needed now though 8 additional people is hard to support.

I feel like the best person that Anna knows and should go to for help is Jill.

@@miamars90 I agree. Now that Jill and Jinger are somewhat disconnected from the Cult they would at least be able to hook Anna up with the support she needs through their Church's. I myself don't believe in the Bible. However I do respect most religions. When I left my husband of 21yrs I went to family first. My husband stalked me until I ran out of relatives. I ended up going to a batted women's shelter. I hated being there,it was scary but it was the best thing I ever did for myself. I had counseling on a daily basis. The shelter helped me find affordable housing, set me up with a pro bono attorney to help with the divorce. Local Churches donated new household items because I left with just the clothes on my back. Even after I had my own house the shelter sent out a social worker/ counselor to help me adjust to life with freedom. I had lived with strict rules, being told what to wear, who I could talk to, I was only allowed to leave the house for work or grocery shopping, the mileage on my car was checked daily, any money I earned was handed over to my husband. Anna doesn't fit the same criteria. Whether Anna realizes it or not she is an abuse victim. Psychological abuse can be more harmful than physical abuse. Anna needs to be handled with care. Adjusting to a different way of life gets harder the longer Anna stays in that cult. If Amy really wanted to help she wouldn't be blabbing all over the Internet. There's a way to get word to Anna privately. Amy isn't self aware enough to realize what a greedy fool she looks like when she's posting those awful videos.

Anna's brother, Daniel had the best offer! He offered to pay her money to divorce Josh, and even have her and her 7 kids move in with him, but she "blocked" everyone! Daniel NEVER liked Josh, and he even called him a pig, which fits him perfectly! In my own opinion, he's a perverted, disgusting pig! IF I could talk to Daniel Keller, I'd thank him for having the best opinion of Josh, along with being willing and able to help his sister and 7 nieces and nephews!

Josh was willing to let someone go to jail in his place, by throwing his (friend) under the bus. How hard hearted do you have to be?

Josh was BORN "a bad seed," and another KZbin video mentioned someone saying: "That boy ain't right." Michelle herself said that she sensed something wrong with Josh's heart, and that's NOT an actual lie! The whole situation is absolutely disgusting!
