The talent in metal... These people could be stars in any genre, but they choose a narrow, not exactly mass appeal radio playtime genre where they can do their own thing. And that is the essence of metal, doing your own thing to to the very very best of your abilities. The result is a genuine expression of the soul and psyche of the musician. High art.

So, why two drummers? Because this was an anniversary show for Leprous, so they invited a lot of people they had worked with in the past along. Their current regular drummer is the one who went nuts at the solo, and is possibly one of the best drummers in Norway (certainly part of the discussion). That said, Leprous is just generally amazing and there are plenty more songs out there from the Rockefeller set. Contaminate Me will certainly give you something new to talk about.

Not only is the lead singer Norwegian, he's brothers-in-law with Ihsahn, who's a legendary figure in the metal community as he basically invented symphonic black metal in the early 90s with his band Emperor, and continues to release really avant-garde metal stuff today.

So glad you went with the live version. It sounds fantastic on the studio album of course, but as far as the singer is concerned, the live version really shows just how talented and fearless he is - and I feel the emotion comes through, as well. He's not afraid to use head voice, belting, falsetto, or growls, and makes it all work.

Love it! Every Leprous album is fantastic and always a great live show, which is even more impressive given the number of lineup changes they've gone through. They've now added a full-time cellist to their touring lineup, as well, which just makes the experience that much better!

A lot of these prog metal bands are so interesting for their vocal work and also their instrumentals as in prog of course being different is a big thing most of the time. That growl was more of a black metal style, while the growls you've shown previously have their roots in death metal. They tend to be more high pitched and raspy rather than low and guttural.

So glad you did Leprous. I just discovered them this year, and my mom took me to see Bent knee, Leprous and Haken for my birthday (I'm 30 she doesn't need to do these things, but shes a closet metal head too). She walked out and said, "Leprous put on one of the greatest shows I've ever seen. That was Amazing, it was so visceral, I didn't listen to their music I felt it. For Christmas I want your favorite album by them".

I'm really happy to see everyone cheering on Baard Kolstad on Leprous videos. I couldn't believe he wasn't in a top group back when I first saw one of his street performances pop up on KZbin. Glad Leprous snagged him and sad to see him leave Borknagar, but he supposedly recommended his replacement to them who we'll hopefully hear late this year (fingers crossed).

I saw them at Euroblast 2014 for the first time and never heard of them before. So I talked with my neighbour in front row about the upcoming bands and he said "Queen Metal" and I was like what?! And then Leprous entered the stage.... that was so phenomenal! I taped one song, sadly no more.

@ezet The compromise of david is bad because wintersun is an commerce death metal band. Wintersun is not innovative this music is for the bulk. Of course wintersun has no varied vocal performance this is only fucking shouting like every death metal band do. So boring. And the fucking drums are so triggert. Absolutely overproduce. But Leprous is in depth music from very talented guys. Musical very ambitious and technical excellent. Not for everyone I know. You can not compare this two kinds of bands. If you do it you must have no idea of ambitious music and you have to learn more!
