TesseracT are really on point. I admit I had a hard time digesting them, the music is sometimes too atmospheric, experimental and technical for my taste of metal, but lady, OH, when they finally got me (I think it was with the song Nocturne), I am becoming a superfan lol

ye, same. You really have to get into them! I´ve seen them my first time like 4 years ago, a friend took me and i didn´t know them to begin with. I told him i didn´t like them, back then. 3 Years later he took me again and i loved them! It just took me a bit to get used to their style, now i am kinda inspired by how emotional they are (for me)

@sicboi80
@sicboi80 5 жыл бұрын
The Altered State record was really my "Ah-hah" moment with them. I couldn't stop listening to it over and over. The atmosphere was just so damn brilliant on that one. I realize it was with Ashe on vocals instead of Dan, but it doesn't change how absolutely mind-blowing that album is.

It's not background music and it's not the super cerebral "what the fuck is going on?" type of music you get in other bands. They have a very "pop" style of vocal sometimes but they rely a lot more on atmosphere and "feeling" as well as the groove created by the bass and "djenty" guitar leads they incorporate. It's quite an interesting mix but it does require that you let it take you along for the ride. Rather than really listening intently it's meant to be "felt" to a large extent.

🎶🎶 Lyrics...🎶 Is there something I should know Of the colours that you show I remember those words In the back of my mind There is an old phantom It isn't a secret this mind's shrouded in history It isn't a secret this mind spirals in disarray It isn't a secret this mind shatters in mystery It isn't a secret I find terror in memory Come close Don't be afraid It's stranger than you think Desperately opiate weary Feaverish host to us teary eyed History hexes us History hexes us Don't look Don't think Don't feel Don't move Don't breathe Don't make a sound It lives It breaths In my conscious mind (Rosebud don't change) It isn't a secret this mind's shattered in history It isn't a secret this mind spirals in disarray It isn't a secret this mind shatters in mystery It isn't a secret I find terror in memory I live and breathe again Through these gory locks don't you dare forget them Don't you dare! Don't you dare! History hexes us I breathe again! History hexes us I live again. 🤔🎶🎶

Great request by a great band...I must've watched this same performance a dozen times over the last couple years. And I love the number of requests for Leprous - Slave! I've watched that performance a ton, as well. If we eventually get reactions to that, Karnivool, Caligula's Horse, and The Dear Hunter, it would be so cool.

I love the in-depth analysis you give on every video Beth, as well as the theory you're imparting with us. I don't always understand it 100% (heck, I think even 80% is already pushing it) but it's really nice and refreshing to see someone with proper knowledge not just look at a video and say "yeah, it's pretty good," but you actually try and explain what is going on to us, the common peasants. Keep doing you!

Each djent band has their own kind of ambience, some makes you imagine about space, some about stars and skies, some oceans and seas, some about winds, some fantasy landscapes, some about romance, some about history, some just calm and gentle, some about chaos, some about darkness and creepy forests and just so much more.

Martin Grech is awesome! Out of all the singers who were inspired by Jeff Buckley, he's the one that sounds the most like Jeff. Open Heart Zoo, Venus and The Giving Hands are some of my favorite songs of his. There's a lovely live orchestral version of Open Heart Zoo on his channel.

I went from London to Stockholm to see Tesseract. Night before the gig my friends and I were in a bar and got chatting to these guys - turned out to be the band! We'd never seen them before so had no idea what they looked like, but they were really nice. Next day we're listening to the album Polaris, wondering what the set would be. Pheonix comes on, we're like "this has to be one of them - but there's no way the singer will actually hit the note in the middle of the song, it's too freaking high." Fast forward to the gig - the set list is fecking awesome, then Pheonix start. We're thinking, "ok, let's see this..." and OH MY GOD. He's got such an incredible voice, with an absolutely staggering range. It's insane. Check out Pheonix, live if possible!

For me, TesseracT's overall feeling is like floating in space and taking a relaxing, contemplative journey in nature. For example, their new album, Sonder, makes me think both of floating in space AND driving through the most beautiful place on earth (in my book), the Allegheny mountains and the area around Pittsburgh. I'm a PA native so I'm a bit biased but that's easily my favorite place in the world. I took a trip there this past summer and listened to Sonder several times during the trip. The beauty of the ambiance and overall texture of the music just constantly fit. There's nothing like cresting a hill, being greeted with a beautiful valley view while hearing songs like Mirror Image and Orbital. But yeah, Dan is easily one of my favorite vocalists! His voice combined with Acle's writing makes TesseracT the best prog band out there, in my book!
