@@stephenwood6663 it was in Suspect. Charles came up to Calamity building the cart with a wheel cuz he wanted Corn to apologize for biting him. Calamity told him to get rekt or she would bite him too. Charles left, and when Kitty asked what was taking so long to get the cart together and see her parents, Calamity yeeted the wheel and said "OoOoh NoOo, can't reach it. Gotta get any other wheel but that one."

There’s so much to love in this episode. Charles offhandedly explaining the concept of Purgatory to Clark, his ongoing education on personal responsibility and just his level of salt in general. I love this kid.

@@hariman7727 it does make sense. While we’ve seen Charles accomplish amazing things when motivated, when it’s something he doesn’t want to do, he has no energy (I can relate.) On top of that, last time he was here, he achieved his goal, but immediately got horribly burned and then forced into a bunch of stuff under threat of further fiery assault, and there’s a not tiny chance that retuning here could cause the villagers to try to string him up. Plus he might finally be starting to grow empathy! Here’s hoping.

@@lightwing897 Kitty didn't melt it. Kitty stopped the Red magic fire from burning the entire temple (and possibly the world) to get rid of the black magic. (I can't remember how to spell the Tzktlipoca, and I know I just misspelled it.) CHARLES caused that by breaking the fourth seal on the black magic stuff he uses, which the red magic tried to burn away. It's called taking responsibility for his actions and not blaming the person who KEPT HIM FROM BEING BURNED TO DEATH.

Icky also has had the opportunity of a different close contact interaction with Charles. For most it has been the chaotic trouble making kid that is outright dangerous and needed to be stopped. Icky got trapped in the black tezcatlipoca and ended up in a situation in which his worry and overthinking was making it worse, but Charles was the one to snap him out of it so he could break free. His main interaction with Charles was a leisurely chat, a game in which Charles was trying to trick him into winning, and more chatting.

He asked how you could manipulate the place to get to where you wanted to go and then suddenly the way was just open for him? Is that what's going on here? Is Ichabod now sort of between life and death?

Well, I saw it as more of Icky being able to follow Charles there, whereas Kitty could not. So, yes, some sort of bond there. As far as being between life and death, I don’t think so? But not sure.

Considering Ichabod is named and somewhat based off Ichabod Crane, he could be. When you look at the Legend of Sleepy Hollow on the surface, Crane's fate is of a man who was spirited away by a specter of death, but the term spirited away doesn't necessarily mean they died. It just means spirits took someone from the mortal word into the realm of the dead, but because they were alive when that happened, they're in a sort of limbo, neither alive or dead. Unable to move on.

Charles being proactively helpful! I thought they had an interesting rapport in the awakening scene, and it's gratifying to see Ichabod kind of connect with Charles. Kid needs to make some friends. Neat overlay of explaining to Charles how to leverage his existing skills overtop of Clark doing miles of paperwork without faltering, even if he clearly isn't enjoying it. He's usually borderline comic relief, but much like Huey, he can still take care of important things when need be.

2:34 interesting to note that Ichabod seems to being blaming Kitty as well as Charles for the damage to the temple. It was the red tezcotlipoca that created the "all devouring molten cataclysm" that destroyed the temple anyways. I find it ironic, considering that Kitty vowed to take responsibility for Charles and yet doesn't take responsibility in the destruction caused by her own tezcotlipoca. I hope this is built upon more later

The red tzcotlipoca did the damage itself. Kitty (and Calamity) are the ones that kept it from destroying more of the temple, and killing people for that matter. Charles is the one who took the seal to get the rest of the black tzcotlipoca, so it's his responsibility.

So if we apply some real American geography to this episode, Clark says that they have to go over two mountain passes and cross three rivers. Implying that they're crossing the entire continent. Its a bit of detail that I wasn't expecting in what ultimately turns out to be an easily dismissed throwaway line. My family once drove from California to Florida, and it took about three days of near non-stop driving, going by carriage without modern roads would likely take multiple weeks to make that distance.
