When I sent my betta in for repair is when I realized how much I depended on it to clean my pool and how much I hated skimming my pool. Shouldn’t take long to repair. I never had them repair mine I just took a repaired unit they had on hand.

Has your replacement unit continued working since you posted your video in July?

Yes . I put it away for the winter. But it was working great till I closed the pool October 15th. I had leaves flying into the pool and it scooped them all up. Honestly it runs 24 hours a day. So if it finally runs out of warranty and breaks I’ll purchase a new one. You get addicted to not skimming your pool.

What was the turnaround time for replacements? I picked up a SE last year and added the 3 yr extended warrantee because I don't like the idea of having to have it on to charge. Wondering because nothing seems user serviceable like battery replacement and motor/propellor replacement. I had a very overcast DEC/JAN and it barely ran due to lack of sun. Wish the Plus version would have been available, but I guess next time. Major drawback for me is it only charges when on, pool is in use during the day, so it is not on, so it never gets sufficient charge to run through the night It always blinks red soon after the sun goes down. The pool is in the sun all day.

Good job getting the 3 year warranty. Smart. From sending in to getting a replacement model was 2 weeks. So not terrible. Yea it does require sun to charge and yes has to be switched on to charge. They probably want it in water so battery doesn’t overheat.

Where do you buy the extra warranty?

Buy the warranty on the betta internet website. They offer several year options. 3 is the longest

@@stevethetoolman2435 Looks like I am going to experience the return process. As far as I can tell my Betta just stopped charging. Noticed the other day it was on, but just pushing itself into a pool wall with no lights flashing. The next day it was in the sun for 7+ hrs and never charged. I opted for the send back and repair over swap for a refurbished or pay for upgrade to new plus model. With 27 months still on the warranty and the warranty not transferable to an upgrade is was not cost effective. Hoping on a quick repair time as shipping round trip is like 2 weeks. The amount of pet fur and dead small insects on the top of the pool in just a day is crazy, I miss the Betta already. The pool pump runs at a low speed the majority of the time for energy savings so the skimmer is not verry effective.

Yea I can't live without mine. The only problem for me is that during the winter there is almost no sun on my pool side of the home so the betta hardly runs at all. I wish they would add an external charging option for homes like mine.

@@OlGoodJoe Plus version has s the ability to connect to a wall charger. Could have used that during the extremely overcast Dec/Jan we just went through. Mine barely ran those months.

I have the same issue, I took off the back piece, and the power switch appears to work via some sort of magnet. I am abroad so I want to DIY fix this, do you have any idea how it was fixed? Obviously if the power button cannot be turned to On position, it won't be able to charge and will not work .

I have opened up my old betta. There is a circuit board and battery. But nothing that I could repair. I always send them in for repair or replacement. But that’s my skill level. I’m not good at changing diodes or resistor.

@@stevethetoolman2435 Did it seem like the battery would be easy enough to replace? Just wondering for a future repair since I can't find any videos on a Betta disassembly and I'm not touching mine until the warrantee is out and it has a problem. Any chance of a make / model number on the battery?

Purchased the Betta 2 in August, 2022, the unit died in November 2023. Worked great for almost a year, with some parts that did need to be replaced (basket, remote) & were covered under the extended warranty. But when the unit gave out just after a year of normal use, I was only offered a used 'refurbished' unit in replacement, even under the premium 3-year extended warranty I'd purchased. As a result, I would not buy this from this company again. Their product simply will not last, and they will only replace it with someone else's previously broken, refurbished unit, even under their premium warranty.

I took the back piece off and the power switch has no attachment to the inside, appears it is some magnet and looked like it was superglued by a 3rd grader on the back.
