So true. It’s crazy when you are in the great light and you find absolutely any photo you take looks stunning because of how the light bathes the landscape and subjects

Love it Bill! People often forget photography is all about lighting and less about the gear and the lenses. Though I will admit the gear is fun!

You are 100% correct! Light is everything. Gear is fun and that's what people seem to be interested in but they're definitely is an art to photography. The gear just helps you get to the end result.

Sometimes the simplest things are the best. Einstein liked to ride his bicycle, someone took his picture. You've seen it, we all have. But he wasn't known for his bicycle riding, yet the picture is famous. And you have Rush (the band) fans in the family. All is good.

Great content with examples that are spot on. I like to call the golden hour, 4.5 minutes as the sun changes faster in the mountains. Fleeting minutes

Good points. I was in Iceland over the summer and had roughly 8 hours each day of golden hour due to it's location. 4 hours in the morning and the same in the evening. It made for great opportunities.

Good stuff Bill. I've been shooting since junior high yearbook in the early 90s and even majored in Photography. I still consider myself very much an amateur. These videos are better for my attention span to learn and inspire me to actually get back out and shoot. Thank-you

One of the ladies, younger, in the beach sunset shots is wearing a "RUSH" t-shirt!... YES!.... But where were these young ladies interested in the band back in the '80s when I was dating ?!?!... Gawd it was such a sausagefest back then: "Be Cool, or Be Cast Out"...🤓🥺

@@BillEricPhotography Don’t know your age, but I am old enough to go back to “Hemispheres” and one of the first albums I bought with my own earned money was “Permanent Waves” (still their best all around IMHO!)... (Not playing one up BTW, just reminiscing...) The two crushing “celebrity” deaths that “make me feel my age” are Lemmy/Motörhead and Neil...your heroes are not supposed to go away!!!✌️👍😣

I'm 52 and one of the first concerts I ever went to was the subdivisions tour at radio City music Hall in New York City. I'm also a drummer and have been in huge Neal Peart fan my whole life. That was a tough one and very unexpected.

For portrait photography you always want your aperture to be as wide open as possible. So a low aperture number like f 2.8 or F1.8. once you understand how the exposure triangle works and I think we have a video on that it's very easy to manipulate your ISO shutter speed and aperture to get the desired effect. Typically a lower aperture number will let more light into the camera but give them more blurred background. Where the opposite is true if you have a high aperture number like f-13 or 15. Everything will be in focus throughout the image. So it really depends on your desired effect and if you are working off of a tripod or not.

Thanks for this photo tip, Bill. Just yesterday I took some random photos in a park at golden hour and the light made my photos look so much better. Then watching your video made me realize why the light appeared to be magical in my photos. Now I’m going to intentionally play with the light at golden hour. So more photo tips and wisdom please, Sylvia

I love the golden hour pics. I'm struggling to come up with creative and unique ideas for portraits. I've been doing senior sessions and individual portraits but it seems it's kind of the same poses and the same images as others. I would like to give each client a different image as others. Something unique or something that stands out from everyone else. Maybe you guys could do a video of you have any ideas on how to do this.
@BillEricPhotography
@BillEricPhotography 2 жыл бұрын
Maybe instead of creating the same images try to do portraits and involve something that the person is interested in whether it's a sport, a hobby, a type of car. Whatever it is it'll have a personal feel to it. Also you can definitely incorporate some lighting techniques to make your images look a little different. For instance using a portable softbox and shooting when the sun is low in the sky behind your subject but giving a nice pop of light on their front side could be an interesting look. Or you could go another way and create some sort of style of photography or a place that only you shoot at and then everyone will have the same look But it will be unique to your clients.
