i still play local versus in this game, it's a fuckin' trip. there's definitely some questionable balance (blue and purple activation giving auto parry until it ends!!), but every single thing is reversable which results in some hilarious mixups and scrambles
@awokai2 жыл бұрын
the blue activation is auto parry and the best way to deal with it is running away (until it's gone) or you just don't attack and parry by yourself. Sure sometimes your opponent will hit you, but just don't attack/grab, otherwise he will parry and gain more special.

I never played a game like this that was better than Urban Reign. The controls worked so well in a 3D space. They really had it down to a science here, and I wish we could've seen more. The best characters were unlocked later. Napalm 99 was my favorite. But you had guys with all sorts of special traits in the game, representing all sorts of different fighting styles. Even some of the regular gang members and underlings had really good move sets. There was also a code that put every character on equal footing stat wise, so you could take characters like KG and have epic revenge showdowns against characters like Golem and McKenzie. I played this game to absolute death.

Urban Reign and Def Jam Fight for NY are the two games that need a re-release so desperately. And Matt, I encourage you to get more into it. The combat system is the most free-flow and satisfying debatebly ever. It's all about context. You can for example, chain several divekicks into an aerial-grab, press the run button to start running from an airgrab and possibly connect with a wall for extra damage and a different animation, grapple two enemies simultaneously, catch weapons out of the air and even had weapon specific special moves and grapples for specific characters... just to name a few things.
