@ALTONBENALLY Sweet! I'm making arrangements to go back to school for Biomed Tech this Sept. Defintely looking forward to it. I drew the line with my career when the company decided not to let us be just techs anymore but made us salespeople as well. Now they want us to sell new services while we're on our service calls. The only realistic way a tech can meet the metrics is to solicit potential customers at his/her own time. Ridiculous.

Worked as a Temp in the VA Health care system a Biomed helper. Could not get hired because I did not have any formal training or 2 year degree. Now enrolled in 2 year online Biomed technician degree. Its a good deal VA pays 100% tuition and I get 900$ month for Housing pay. It is fast paced program at College of Biomedical Technology in San Antonio Texas. There is a lot of Job contacts around were is live in the Pitt. pa area like Phillips has always looking for entry level biomed techs and Xray engineers. As a "not Biomed and outsider" , i also think that Safety is part of the job. As a Biomed, you have not only to deal with different kinds of technologies like electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics etc, but also the hazards that come with each technology. Like the risk of shock hazards when you are dealing with electrical devices, but also the risk of fluids under (high) pressure like in hydraulic devices, and those can also cause skin burns due the temperature of the fluid (oil, water etc). Devices that use high air pressure where a hose or reservoir can burst. The weight of some devices (parts) , that can cause different kinds of damage to human and infrastructure. The Biohazard risk, because you are in a environment where you can get punctured by sharp objects, can come in contact with different kinds of body fluids, gasses , chemicals etc....
