Very insightful. I ran across this video from the Newington Facebook page. I have an electronics degree and have been looking into doing Biomed as a career. The tips you give are really great for communicating with people in the field, so as to not be too pushy or not showing any motivation. Sometimes it is hard to know how to put feelers out for positions. Thanks again!

I am a Biomed who is very concerned about social media and posting stuff. HIPAA is something so important to our profession. Instagram has to be careful. Be safe biomeds on posting!

I really appreciate your insights here, thank you. If you don't mind me taking a moment of your time, I'm in a bit of a pickle and could use some assistance. I am a recent grad from HCC's Electrical Engineering Associates Program, with an emphasis in Biomed. I am currently at DaVita, but looking for an established hospital position. Without previous Biomed work experience it's been a challenge to catch a second glance from what little hiring is happening. My question is: is there anything you would recommend I do in the way of online accreditation ( or anything for that matter) that could potentially catch the eye of a hiring supervisor? For example, I found Hamilton's online learning 'college', but the C1 Ventilator certification seems directed more toward nursing and general use, not Biomed repair and maintenance. I was able to make it to a couple of the HTMA general meetings at Ben Taub, but now that that's all shut down it's difficult to know how to direct my focus/time/energy. Really at a loss for how to get things moving, any advice would certainly be appreciated.

Eric, when you find a hospital you'd like to work for, do your research on biomeds at that location. Use LinkedIn, use Facebook and Google. Its a misconception that accreditation gets you more jobs. Being personable and driven gets you the job. Try to reach out to the Biomed manager - ask existing biomeds for assistance in getting contact info. Good luck. Never give up. Ive been turned away from many positions (usually because they already have a designated candidate before the job is obligatory posted)

Thank you for the information! I just got out as a calibration technician and have been recommended to go into this field despite only calibrating and troubleshooting aviation equipment. I have the electrical and mechanical skills however new to the medical field. Will the companies still see me as valuable and if not Any recommendations on certs to be more valuable? Thank you for your time

What are some names of vendors that have a lot of reps in the field? You mentioned them in the video, but it would be helpful to have them spelled out.

Thank you, it was beneficial but I wanted to ask, what is the name of that machine behind you, is it 3D and what u have it for?
@BetterBiomedChannel

The machine behind me is a CNC router that I designed and built myself. This would be the 4th machine that I've built. One is at a custom guitar maker in Los Angeles, One at a sign shop in Georgetown SC, and one is at a custom woodwork shop in Raleigh NC.

Your resume and your interview skills greatly improve your salary negotiations- treat it as a real negotiation. If you need any help finding jobs, let me know. I have a very large network of hospitals and biomeds. You should be making $65-$70k with 5+ yrs experience.

I have a question. I went to Anaheim for 7 months to S.C.I.T. South California Institute of Technology. To get my diploma for Biomed. Why is that none of the companies appreciate my diploma and wants the CBET ? Did I do the school for nothing?

What the difference between biomedical Equipment Technician and Biomedical clinical engineering.
@BetterBiomedChannel
@BetterBiomedChannel 2 жыл бұрын
There is Biomedical Equipment Technicians and then there are Clinical Engineers and then there are Biomedical Engineers. BMETS are the worker bees. they actually repair and maintain the equipment. Clinical Engineers will run projects and often Biomed Shops. Biomedical Engineers often design and manufacturer medical devices and medical technology

Elon Musk's resume is 1 page . Resumes should be 1 page

Not always. A simplified resume which includes all work experience and all training / education for a senior biomed would easily be over 1 page.
