5 elements of a videogame-like life 1) Have a clear objective you are working towards and break it down into manageable achievements 2) Make your progress visible, you need to be constantly aware that you're consistently getting closer to completing something: Track your achievements / daily activities. 3) Reward yourself for your effort with something that rewards you back into continuing progress. Find a reward that rewards you back, or at least make sure it doesn't sabotage your progress like it usually does 4) Incorporate something new into your playthrough. 5) Challenge yourself by gradually increasing the difficulty. If something is too easy try to set a time limit or increase the challenge in some other way Your quest is to incorporate all 5 elements into your playthrough.

In games there is no cost for failure. You use quick load, or start a new match. IRL is like playing on super hardcore difficulty and every failure has a cost. You either lose time, money, job, reputation, health or sanity. If every death in a videogame cost $100 you wouldn't find them very fun.

@@Gaze73 it depends on the game, some penalize their players for wrong decisions (FromSoftware games such as Dark Souls series and Elden Ring are prime examples, Darkest Dungeon is another example) and, interestingly enough, it actually feels even better when you (player) overcome your "quest" or objective. That's because it creates a bigger challenge when the stakes are higher, thus rewarding more dopamine. This happens in real life too, when you finally accomplish whatever you set off to do and you struggled with a task. The problem lays in our ability to identify our level versus the task's level. We either think we're a level 100 when we're actually level 30 or vice-versa. We also need to learn to drop tasks that are too difficult and come back later once we've learned more. I realize now that i've been able to do and excel at pretty much every job i've had because i look at things more objectively and see it more like a Dark Souls game where i need to make the best of a bad situation and accept failure, rather than for my personal interests and life.

My attempt to sum up: • Clear Goals (achievable milestones) • Visible Progress (track what's done) • Rewards (with relevant gifts) • Variety (something new occasionally) • Gradual Difficulty (brake difficult tasks, focus on the easiest parts first, set some limits when feels too easy) • Competition (social aspect) • Music (and other motivation gainers) • Autonomy (sense of control)
Life is a long video game that ends when you can no longer play.. what I love most is the journey, characters and random situations and events that comes with it.. I’m happy that we all stopped here for second in our paths in this game called life.. farewell, everyone ❤️

After watching this video, I have learned some lessons for myself. If I want to change my productivity, I should turn my life into a GAME. 1. There needs to be a clear path and destination. 2. We can use the process bar to push our motivation because it shows us where we are on this journey. 3. After finishing a challenge, we should reward ourselves with a well-deserved gift. 4. Ramps the difficulty up and makes it fun. 5. We can do it together with others. P/s: thank you for reading my comment (I know I’m new to English and still have a lot of mistakes. But I’m really happy because I’m getting better every day.) ❤

I did this a long time ago, i turned my life into a sims game and started a business. Try it and take the chance thats the hardest part. You can always find the same job you already mastered before as a fall back job. Start small and keep upgrading! You only have one life give it a shot.

There's another positive thing in RPGs that I can think of: recognition. There might be competition between players, but when you're successful at a quest, you get recognition and thanks from the various NPCs. I think it's important to get recognition in life to get us going. It's a form of encouragement that can be more effective than a reward. That's a difficult thing to trigger irl but the best advice I heard for that is: acknowledge the work of the people around you, sooner or later it will come back at you.

@@scsi1995 Life isn't just about being positive though. If life were only about the positive things in in, then it would be a waste, evil things would make no sense, and ultimately life would be purposeless. I personally think that Life is about living to your fullest and helping others to do the same, even through the hard times in it. That is why I love this channel so much, because he is doing the very thing that life is about. Not only that, but his advice is solid and agreeable for all cultures, religions, opinions, etc.

apply it by verbalizing you goals and then understanding the steps you need to take to get there. try to improve on things you were never good at or don t give much attention to throughout your day, leveling up, like being better at presentations or talking to girls. make sure to get use out of your environment by talking to your peers and waging whether they can help you grow or not. start by taking small steps to your goals and be honest with what is getting in your way, Internet, video game or drug addictions.

**I INCREASED MY PRODUCTIVITY 10x - BY TURNING MY LIFE INTO A GAME** 1. Always have a clear objective to work towards. 2. Create a loop where a tiny bit of success rewards us with dopamine and motivation to continue: - Broken down into shorter sub-goals that lead up to that big goal. - Whenever you finish something, no matter how mundane or small it might seem → get rewarded with a sense of accomplishment. 3. Make your progress visible: - Ex: during each day, make sure to take note of all the things you've done, that led you towards your goals. 4. Having a reward that rewards us back. 5. If you want to stick to something long term, try incorporate something new into the activity → have a new experience every once in a while. 6. Try to match the difficulty to your skill level → consistently challenge you.
@TheVerendus2 жыл бұрын
This is an incredibly insightful video! I love the bit about "setting the difficulty" to what you can manage such as breaking down a big task into smaller parts, but the opposite is also very important! Imposing challenges on yourself to make mundane tasks more engaging is so smart and I love how you mention setting a timer for yourself or similar. As a recent personal example, I had some really tedious tasks to do for work and its very easy to get distracted while doing them, but I set a deadline for myself because I wanted to break for lunch at the end of the hour and had already been putzing around on the tasks for a while. I set a 30 minute timer and honestly didn't think I would get them all done but I finished with 15 minutes to spare. It's amazing what you can do when you challenge yourself and just focus.
