I loved this show so much as kid! Also it drives me nuts when white men in the cartoon industry confidently say “all women eventually grow out of cartoons” and that black girls don’t care for comics and other nerd culture things. It reminds me how unwanted/unwelcomed we are in fandoms and instead of being at least recognized our existence is denied. And it bugs me cause it leads to shows being cancelled reboots being mistreated all based on what racist and sexist men think we like instead what we actually express

It would be very similar to a glass of warm Ed from Ed Edd and Eddy, Only their weight gains would be bigger and fatter than Ed’s and every time they gain weight they would magically get bigger. To be more specific they would turn into fat giant Witches. It’s not just the entire neighborhood’s food their eating but also the Netherworld's food as well. They would be so big and so fat they would be able eat giant whales. Sabrina tries to stop them but fails. She realizes she needs Enchantra’s help.

This show was my favorite Saturday morning cartoon growing up! Great analysis on what made it so great and I always love Cree Summer. She’s an icon of voice acting from Susie Carmichael in Rugrats to Princess Kida in Atlantis.

I loved this show it was so much fun to watch and I think really captured what it felt like to be a kid with a dash of quirky supernatural adventures and the morals never seemed to ruin the story flow the slice of life aspect of it actually balanced it out well in short although it wasn't perfect it was very fun to watch .

i watched your video on the sitcom and that was a cherished part of my childhood but the cartoon i'm realizing might be even more so. i'm sitting up here smiling hearing you talk about it 🙂 this was my show back in the day 😂 i didn't have cable for long stretches as a kid so these types of syndicated shows that ran on regular tv were my shit. If this show has crossed over with Archie's Weird Mysteries would have be wild. Seemingly same production team. Same Archie comics universe 😂

I watched a handful of episodes, and it's a very good children's cartoon; Sabrina is such a great, well-rounded protagonist, the animation is nice, the voice directing is weirdly polished for a programme aimed at children, making the already superb acting even better, and the variety of mundane and exciting stories is especially welcoming. I have seen some of "Sabrina's Secret Life", and it has it's moments, even though it's more for those looking for quality aesthetics than storytelling. Even better, the spin-off got two Game Boy Color games, and they're shockingly good 2D platformers, especially "Spooked!". Shantae before Shantae. Very good video all-around; good editing, directing, writing, pacing, et cetera. I recently began doing cartoon reviews, and it has proven to be lots of fun, if a bit tiresome and stressful here and there.

I totally love this cartoon. It was definitely the better cartoon of the two versions we got from the 90s sitcom series even though I do believe that Sabrina’s Secret Life has some memorable episodes, I strongly agree that this is the better show. Recently got done watching the whole cartoon, time weel spent! About Chloe being the only confirmed character of colour, it is implied that Pi is Latino and Gem is Asian (her parents are white-looking, but she could've been adopted)

Actually, Pi is Asian. He's half Asian half Scottish, and Gem is indeed white, she's modeled directly after Libby. Marita from Secret Life is Latina.

Honestly,I like every Sabrina Version except for the Netflix Version. All the Generations were great on their own way,I really liked the Computeranimted series back in 2012 that unfortunately has 1 Season. The cartoon Sabrina is the Sabrina I grew up with and still enjoy to watch :)

I remember watching the previews of Sabrina the Animated Series on two or three of my New Adventures of Madeline VHS tapes, but I never watched the actual episodes until early 2023. Although I honestly don't care about the sitcom series, I just wanted to appreciate this cute cartoon from DIC Entertainment. I was also curious about the full-length movie, Friends Forever, and Sabrina’s Secret Life. I understand the criticism of the sequel series, but there are some things I personally like. For example, Queen Enchantra has a nicer personality than the antagonistic version from the older series, and her niece Cassandra (Sabrina’s frenemy) has less malice than Gem Stone. As for Sabrina, she can be selfish and sometimes hostile to her friends in both the original and Secret Life series but is definitely not meant to be a nasty kid. Because she apologetically did the right thing by the end of each episode, Sabrina should certainly be a forgivable character, and I think she’s a sweetheart angel. If I were a fan artist, I could draw a picture of Sabrina and Harvey’s wedding; she would absolutely be a beautiful bride with a more grown-up personality! Oddly enough I've only just recently found out about it though I devoured the 90s live action sitcom at the time, and have happily binged the entire animated series. It's fantastic, witty, involving, and the kind of cartoon an adult can thoroughly enjoy with its film spoofs, deadpan snarker jokes and genuinely imaginative scenarios. I'm utterly addicted! It works I think because MJH was actively involved in it, Nick Bakay and Heartbreak films, and Savage Steve gives it that wacky touch. Also the animation is quality, nicely coloured and the supporting characters are so good, especially Chloe Flan, I love that girl, she's so funny.

That episode is my fav. Too bad status quo is god kicked in by the end of the episode 😮‍💨 that happened a lot in cartoons back in the day. So many characters development were ruined because for some reason things have to remained the same. Luckely that doesnt happen as mutch with new cartoons.

They can be sometimes a lazy way to add conflict, but I think Gem is there to be a foil to Sabrina. She's this insanely wealthy girl with a lot of influence and popularity, who doesn't have the responsibilities that Sabrina has. But when Sabrina sees the less dazzling parts of her life - her distant parents, her lack of any friends that aren't using her for something - it makes her grateful for what she has. And even though she never actually changes, she serves as a reminder to Sabrina to always take the high road and never stoop to a bully's level (there's one episode where she uses magic to sabotage Gem's election campaign as revenge and feels horrible about it).

I would still keep Gem because she is my favourite but unlike the show i would ACTUALLY develop Gem everytime she got a focus episode. The show has already given some good depth and opertunities for growth to her character so i will make use of that. I do not think every bully character need develpment and being reformed but with Gem i believe there was a good reason of doing it. And well i know the show just like Fairly Odd Parents doesnt have an overacthing story really dont care honestly. Speaking of Sabrina The Animated Series just has Gem as a wasted character (Despit i still loving her) But FOP has THOUSENDS of wasted characters so i believe and overacting story of that show will be good to. I have no intentions of picking a fight with you so sorry is it looks that way.

So they got Melissa Joan Hart back but DIDN'T give her the obvious role of Sabrina? That's... really stupid, even if it worked out well. Because if it did work out, that means she's a good voice actor so there was no reason not to give her the lead/let her play the character she was already playing and knew better than the Aunts.

I think it was probably her choice. In interviews she's not been quiet about how she didn't like playing Sabrina - she prefers playing someone wackier so I guess voicing the two aunts was more fun for her

I will never understand this “I have to see my skin color/race on the screen to feel represented”. I’m Italian, never saw an actual Italian as a main protagonist in any American tv shows in my life. One could argue Joey Trebbiani but Matthew Le Blanc is not Italian and he never showed how Italian life really is. The best was Paolo which was in literally 2 episodes and beside some Italian lines, he had nothing else going on to showcase Italian culture. Do you wanna know when I felt most represented (more like I related to the character) on tv? Will Smith in Prince of Bel-Air, the episode when his father comes back out of nowhere cause he wants something from Will and at the end thanks to Will’s uncle, his father goes away again leaving Will with his rage and sadness. Will Smith’s performance right there still brings me to tears every time I see it cause I had a father who left too in a bad way. So a Black Man made me, an Italian Woman, feel represented. Skin color is just superficial and dumb, especially nowadays and especially after all the black representation we had in the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s.

Sabrina is Italian American but they only show it in Sabrina Goes to Rome and never address it again.
