here at my local library, the papers notes in the books are for online reservations,kinda like receipts, showing the order number, due to return date, and other info. you can then do the actual check out on a computer, without needing to bother staff. also they are sorted by order number, not alphabetically, so someone might have deliberately reserved these for the pure sake of this joke edit: i should have watched the last few seconds of the video too, someone already explained it there XD

@ice15464
@ice15464 2 ай бұрын
OBJECTION! Have you never tried to place holds on books at libraries, Wright? Even if the library sticker were out of place, as you so claim, libraries often will have books brought in from other libraries in the same system if they don't have that specific one in stock at the time. This is so the customer can pick up all of their held books at the same library at the same time. Therefore, even if the book in question were not originally from that library, it's not unlikely that it was brought in from another one in the area. Also, Wright, human error (which is something I'm sure you have a lot of experience with...). People can place things in different ways on different books.

@@getthedunkon9347 That... just looks like a different classification system. Libraries (or at least, the ones I'm familiar with) tend to use a different classification system when the books are aimed at different age groups. Books aimed at younger readers are simpler, trending towards descriptions of the contents of the book so children (and their parents) can determine if it's interesting and/or appropriate, whereas books aimed at adult readers (including the young adults) don't require any form of content warning, because adults can come to their own decisions about the book and their desire to read it without the crutch of an external label. The label on the YA books are purely for the librarian's convenience, nothing more.

Danganronpa does take inspiration from Ace Attorney for it's trial system I think. So even as someone who hasn't played Ace Attorney but has played Danganronpa, I have to assume that this is appropriate for an Ace Attorney trial as well. Especially because even though I've never played it, I do know vaguely that it has some wild twists and turns and all sorts of ridiculous moments. Just like Danganronpa.

I will point out that: 1) This is very faithful to the games. 2) If this was a real live case, with Phoenix being the defence lawyer, the fact that prosecution couldn't disprove the possibility that book was placed there internally by the person taking the photo would be enough to bring reasonable doubt, which would be enough for Phoenix to win... right until the library sticker has been pointed out. But the point is that in real life prosecution would need to disprove the possibilities they don't believe possible, while the defence lawyer would be the person bringing up the other likely possibilities, which is the other way around in this case.
@InternetsDadGaming
@InternetsDadGaming 2 ай бұрын
Except reasonable doubt isn't enough for a Phoenix Wright game, in the Phoenix Wright universe, which is based upon Japanese law, it's not a matter of innocence until proven guilty, it's a matter of guilty until proven innocent. Reasonable doubt would only at best lead to prosecution following up on Phoenix's theory to investigate if and the case continuing a following day, it wouldn't let him win the case

@@InternetsDadGaming Sometimes not even that is enough. My eternal beef with 1-3 will always be how Pheonix Wright proved his client, Will Powers, was in a drug induced sleep at the time of the murder and thus was not in condition to kill ANYBODY by the end of day 2. Despite this very powerful alibi, we still had to go through an entire day 3 of the case, which did very little other than give the actual murderer a pretty solid justified self defense argument for her future court case. 3-5 had a similar issue, but I can't bring myself to dislike 3-5. It's 3-5.

OBJECTION: to both of them, actually. Here’s my hypothesis. Four people all read the same Na Na manga, and one person borrowed a Batman comic. Then they returned those books in the *returned books shelf* (lots of libraries have those) and the librarian thought it would be hilarious to do this. Explanation for the papers: the four manga readers remembered to bring their library receipts (as you should) but the Batman reader simply didn’t.

I don’t think expert witnesses exist in those games? Maybe if you count channeling, but that seems more like the Feys serving as interpreters

This is so iconic. The ace attorney was done so well, then the final additions of the sticker and the hold shelf to top it off. Just perfection

When you read manga series, you have to put them on hold or you won’t get to read them in order. If you walk into the library, they will have volumes 1, 3, 4, 7 and 36.

This is what happens every time people who don't know what they're talking about but are otherwise smart people argue with each other. Their capacity to THINK is on full display, they just don't know anything. It is sadly also common for people to fail spot checks and have to figure things out the hard way just like this.

This just made me think about how, in Ace Attorney, all you would need to do is prove that the accusations to your defendant cannot be proven.

I am proud to have known about the hold receipts and library stickers. However, the hold case should have a lot more books- unless it's an incredibly unused library. The batman's lack of paper suggests that it was not on the hold shelf. Most likely the person who put the books on hold (or someone who decided to borrow them, maybe even a librarian) took the Nana books and then grabbed the batman one. Perhaps the batman book was less popular, or there were always batman comics to choose from, but Nana was popular and was frequently taken. In order to get three at a time, they only needed to hold three and hope that they could get them all at the same time. That means that it would have been a good idea to put all of the Nana's on hold, regardless of number, to make sure they could get three within a hold date. They just had to wait and hope that they weren't put back on the shelf before the third could come along. This may have taken them a long time to do.

*OBJECTION!* The fact that the books are on a hold shelf most assuredly cements the fact that these library books were placed there specifically for a picture. After all, if they were on a hold shelf, _someone must have ordered them._ Therefore we must ask ourselves why these books are in this specific order. It’s far too coincidental for the books to have been ordered by separate parties, which leads us to one simple conclusion… *_The perpetrator ordered these books deliberately, so that they could take a picture of them!_* *TAKE THAT!*

I volunteered at a library before and before they argued if there was paper in the batman book at all, I was just thinking “those books are on hold for someone. Maybe the paper is just inside it bc the paper is small.” AND I WAS RIGHT

There's a much longer Ace Attorney role-playing argument with many more of the defendants and prosecutors arguing over the validity of a photo of supposed M n Ms. If you ever find that post, it's absolute gold. 😄 I think I may have reblogged it on my secondary Tumblr.

I would have thought the objection would be that the Batman book is on the wrong side of the shelf for the joke. If they are manga, they are read right to left.
