Careful with these types of running jokes, they can turn into an expected thing. For many years I've been part of a gaming forum that at some point added polls during one of the updates, from then on "potato" has become the stand in for "idk I just wanna click the poll" and a fully expected option in every poll to the point that if someone forgets to add this mostly useless answer a lot of users will complain. It's been years and at this point it's easier to just explain it to the newbies than trying to change our customs, makes us look like a tribe of weirdos.

When i was in 8th grade we had a cooking class. We made cookies one class, and unfortunately the class before us made stirfry and forgot to put away the soy sauce. The vanilla extract and soy sauce were in identical bottles for some reason with a tiny printed label. My groupmate did not read the label, and added it. He also botched the recipe and put too much in. I, without knowing, ended up eating most of the cookies bc i hadn't packed a lunch for myself. I found out after i ate several cookies that there was a LOT of sodium in them (i just thought we made bad cookies, i didn't realize the taste was SOY SAUCE!!) and we then had Gym class, which resulted in me getting horribly sick. In front of everyone I had to run away and puke, interrupting the lesson. Vanilla extract could've saved me from a metric ton of embarrassment that day, but alas, it was not meant to be.

Fun fact, if I’m not mistaken vanilla extract is mostly alcohol mixed with a few other things (including vanilla bean extract/vanillin), so while it _smells_ great, it absolutely would _not_ taste good. And most of it would probably evaporate during the baking process.
