Her story taught me three lessons: 1. To always be involved and present in every aspect of a partnership, especially the financials. 2. Keep your legs closed to married men. 3. Always have your own identity.

@@bethwhite3936 he pushed her to over the edge he betrayed her big time ! He Used her then discarded her after she gave up her youth. And the the other one got with a married man she should have told him to F off instead of stupidly getting involved with one. Unfortunately she paid the price for that mistake. Betty got screwed over big time. As All he cared about was himself.

She did an excellent portrayal of Betty Broderick;; I noticed the movie making Dan and Linda as the innocent ones, but he was much to blame for the 16- year marriage ending by getting into an affair with Linda, whom he eventually married! My heart 💔 s for their four kids who were the victims of this powder keg explosion!! 😪

I think every move she made was a failure and ended up going against her! When she sent the kids to him and his new wife after he left her she thought that he would send them back, with him returning to her as well, but he kept them. When she kept calling and leaving cursing messages he used it against her in court. Even in the beginning and through out their marriage she was a devoted wife and mother but he left her anyway! But life isn't fair and even though she was deeply hurt by all that happened to her murder is never an option!! By killing her ex-husband and his wife she took two people from this world that were loved by their family and friends and she ruined all her children's lives as well as her own! Over thirty years in prison with no real end in sight and only one of her children still speaks to her! I can't imagine that she has no regrets! It was such a twisted and horrible thing she did!!

So, she worked for a couple of years early on, and then reaped years of a luxury life and then a huge amount of alimony and property when he wanted out. How many women out there would be delighted about having to work only a few years and then quit? It's ridiculous to try making her sound like a martyr or an innocent victim. I can't imagine how any man could have lived with that self-absorbed woman in the first place.
@loralieisa
@loralieisa 4 жыл бұрын
@@linseyanne5975 It sounds like all your information was from movies about this case. A better source is Bella Stumbo's book "Until the twelfth of never." In the book you find that Betty didn't own property post divorce because her ex put the house in his name. Additionally, the alimony she was receiving was temporary. She was being coaxed to start work. She is not portrayed as an innocent victim and neither were Dan B. and his new wife.

Cyrus Adriania bullsh!t!!! Betty kept firing her lawyers!! She retained Mr. Daniel Jaffe....an extremely competent and successful divorce attorney (to this day btw) and he said plainly on the witness stand after the double homicides how reasonable Dan Broderick was and UN-reasonable Betty was. Mr Jaffe stated how “absolutely bizarre” Betty’s behavior was and he had “never seen anything like it”. He did not want to be her lawyer NOT because he was afraid of Dan but because he knew he would be in court 24/7 trying to bail Betty out of jail for all her crazy, obsessive antics against her soon to be ex! Did you know that Stalking laws were put into place in California after the homicides because of Betty Broderick?? She stalked Dan excessively before killing him which is a very common characteristic of people before they kill. She STOLE her own daughters key that got into Dan’s home so she could cowardly creep inside at 5:30 in the morning to kill him and his wife. Betty is an evil, sick, envious shrew and its an absolute tragedy what SHE did to her children. Not to mention killing 2 people just because she hated them and was jealous of them.

Haven't you heard how Betty tortured her husband in their marriage? Narcissists like her make the lives of their partners a nightmare. After the marriage broke apart he payed her a fortune each month and she still couldn't make peace with him. If a man would kill his ex wife no one would support that guy - but Betty fits in the pattern of the "poor left wife".

Sis a.k.a kittyluver ny I think you’ll be pretty impressed with Amanda Peet as Betty even though Meredith Baxter looked more like her and was fantastic in that role. Amanda Peet has put so much emotion into the role, it makes me feel her pain just watching it. I can relate to being a scorned woman as can many of us, sadly, so it really makes me empathize with her coming unraveled as Betty.😳 I love the series so much that I’m dying for the next episode.

But if i didn’t have them. I probably would have ran over my ex & his whore the night I followed them to a bar in my car! But I didn’t. Dan used Betty's body like a children's factory and wasn't very pleased with her decision to actually do something else than just having children. He also used her as a training buddy during his college years to help him pass his exams. He used her confidence in him to go out and build his business. He used her good taste to finely decorate his offices. He used her motherly skills to raise children that didn't become thugs or drug addicts. Basically he sucked a lot out of her and she had no reason to believe that would one day collapse. He and the kids were her main support system. It seems her parents were rather critical most of the time. Dan really took everything from her quite happily so. She had absolutely no more support system. Once I was told: "never enter into a fight with someone that has absolutely nothing to lose". Dan took everything that made her a balanced person, so she became that person that found herself having nothing more to lose. You never know what you are capable of until someone pushes you so far that you snap like never before. Think you know yourself? Well you don't, really.

I disagreed with that. Betty Broderick murdered Dan and Linda because of Betty's jealous rage. She might say the same thing in the next parole hearing in 2032, "I am sorry for everything that happened." By the way, the made-for-TV versions of the Betty Broderick story including the second season of Dirty John are somewhat okay. It is just that Hollywood should make a better version of the Betty Broderick story into a feature film and I have this picture in my mind that Kate Winslet would play Betty Broderick, Leonardo DiCaprio would play Dan Broderick, Margot Robbie would play Linda Kolkena Broderick, and Alyson Hannigan would play Kerry Wells who was the prosecutor in the trials to convict Betty Broderick.

@@darkeststar3640 They purposely drove her crazy? Are you still defending Betty Broderick? Betty Broderick murdered two people because of her jealous rage and she assumed that Dan was having an affair with Linda. Assumed, theorized! She was theorizing that Dan was affair with Linda because she reminds me of my momma when she accuses my dad of some minor problem in the house! Betty Broderick wants to be the center of some big drama! She is sick in her mind because she is living in her fantasy like if she some princess living a castle! Don't you get it? Betty Broderick will still died in that prison cell. She was denied parole twice because she did not shown any remorse for her actions. She might do the same thing the next that she will eligible for parole. Now, any woman can suspect that her boyfriend or her husband is having affair with another woman behind her back. But murdering the ex and his girl has no justification for it. No justification whatsoever. If Betty Broderick believes that Dan is having an affair with Linda, why did she not see them? Why did she did not see them and said to Dan, "So, you are making out with your personal assistant! You are making out with your personal assistant, huh?"

As it was, Betty refused to follow the advice of two of the best lawyers in town (she fired the first guy and the second guy fired her)...she ended up getting a reputation for not listening and refusing to pay her bills. No lawyer wants a client like that.

It simply amazes me how people cheer for this psychopathic murderer. I watched the "real" trial because I wanted to know the truth from both sides. The truth is that Dan didn't simply DUMP Betty for another woman. I'm not condoning what he did by cheating on Betty. Based on the evidence at the trial, Betty drove Dan into the arms of that woman because she treated him like a dictator. She humiliated him by calling him nasty names in front of his colleagues. If he stepped out of line throughout the course of the marriage, she locked him out of the house. She was violent and threw things at him and treated him like crap. I was shocked when I saw the trial because Betty is the one lying to make herself look like the victim. 1. His parents paid for his medical school and student loans paid for his law school. 2. Betty went to work to help support the family, that's true. However that's because she wanted to do that. Both she and Dan came from an affluent family and they would've helped. 3. Dan sold the "vacant" house from under Betty because she REFUSED every offer and refused to go to mediation. Her lawyer testified against her at trial. After the coral reef house was sold, Betty got more than half of the value of the settlement. Then she cried victim that he sold the house from under her. 4. She did not care about her children and dumped her small child on the doorstep of her ex husband when he wasn't home. That child was traumatized and frightened. 5. Boo hoo, Betty had no money, he left her destitute but she money to buy a $40,000 fur coat, right? 6. Betty did not care about anyone but herself. During the 45 minute conversation with her 11 year old son, Danny, she asked Danny if he had a "cold" when you could visibly hear that the child was sobbing and pleading with her to stop saying bad words. OMG, this story has been so twisted by Hollywood and the news media. That woman was dreadful. She drove that man away and the truth was twisted to make her the victim. Even if she was the victim of being cheated on that justifies murder? She was no better than Jodi Arias, a cold blooded murderer!

That man used me and broke my heart. Do you see where I’m going with this?? For you to make this about color and class is tasteless and completely misses the point! A woman, no matter her race, class or education-was used and abused by a man for whom she sacrificed EVERYTHING. Woman kill for less! So knock it off! I don’t care her color or class. I understand her pain because I’m woman too. I don’t condone her actions but she has my sympathy annnnnndddd empathy. Oh, did I forget to say because SHE IS A WOMAN? @just my opinion and YOU are one of those individuals that I'm referring to. Words may hurt, but BY LAW, that does not warrant MURDER... TWO MURDERS ON TOP OF THAT. I was molested by my dad from the age of 5 yrs old to the age of 12. He physically beat both me and my mom and nearly beat my newborn sister to death with a PVC pipe on her back bcuz she wouldn't stop crying. THAT was physical, & as my mom contemplated protecting US by killing him after reaching out for help from law enforcement with no results, she left it in the hands of fate. Now, we had every reason PHYSICALLY to preserve our own lives if my mother decided to kill him.... BUT WE DIDN'T. WE had far more reasons than Betty & still managed to keep our sanity. Nothing you say along with the rest of these weirdos defending MURDER will justify Betty's selfish act. Her ex husband moved on, she's upset over money & Betty couldn't cope. Instead of seeking mental help, she decided to handle it HER WAY. And as long as she continues LYING, DENYING & crying woe is me, she will remain in a cage like an animal. Btw, they print MONEY everyday. In time, she could've made more, but look where GREED & JEALOUSY got her. Again, NOT JUSTIFIABLE. A lot of you need as much help as she does.

I used to sympathize with Betty, but it's no justification for her actions and behavior...what she went through was and is part of life. If someone wants to be with someone else, as painful as it is, you have to find a way to accept it, and move on. Had she accepted that he wanted to move on, she certainly would have had a wopping alimony, she would have had her kids and subsequent grands, and would have been available for another relationship; she was quite attractive. Life throws us some curve balls, but we learn to get through...as discomfort as pain is, it doesn't last forever...it gets better over time. Eventuallly, she would have seen Dan get his retribution and her dignity restored. She didn't and probably still hasn't taken any responsibility for her actions; even as the man is six feet under....amazing!

I don’t understand why the house didn’t have an alarm system. She was breaking into the house on a regular basis and going around telling everyone she had a gun and was going to kill him. But no alarm system? Makes no sense to me.

@@KateMich12 i don't get that either but i read somewhere that although betty threatened him regularly, he didn't really believe she would follow through. "she wouldn't kill the golden goose" he supposedly said. he was wrong.

QUEEN of Love,! I am here listening intently to the Betty Broderick Story. I do not condone what this woman has done, but before we begin to judge her, we should at least put our feet into her shoes, and try to walk in them even for 15 minutes. She fell in love and got married to the love of her life. They shared a family too. She figured she had it all, but after sometime things started to go awry. Betty became lonely and yearn for companionship. Her husband did not provide it for her anymore. She questioned his absence, and he must have work, work, working. She ask him if he is seeing someone else, and he BLATANTLY denied it. One day he told her that he hired to work for him. Betty found out who the young woman was and she was incensed. By then her husband started to belittle her by telling her she was fat, old boring and stupid. He then divorced her and remarried his new love. Betty said she was unable to get dialogue with her husband so she did what she did. This adage is relevant to this day."HELL HATH NO FURY, LIKE THAT OF A WOMAN SCORNED. Thanks for sharing QUEEN .

He had it coming. To hell with Dan & Linda. Betty stood by him the ENTIRE time he was climbing the ladder. The second he gets to the top, he wants a new, younger version. Dan & Linda got what they deserved

It wasn't "the second he gets to the top". They'd had years of a beautiful home, vacations, a ski condo, trips to Europe, expensive clothes. Betty wasn't exactly a sweetheart to him during those years.

Bullshit - Betty was a foul-mouthed nightmare years before Linda came along - no big shocker that Dan went after her with legal revenge - she also got what she deserved - glad she's locked up.

agreed - early friends of the Brodericks remember her verbal wrath aimed at Dan at home and in public. she loved to dish it out but was obviously ill-equipped to take it

They should let her go free. She served enough time. She’s not a danger to society. She killed a cheater and a home wrecker. I don’t think she will do any harm to anyone else
