I had such a pleasure sitting down for two whole sets at Ronnie Scott's listening to Betty Carter in the mid 90s. It was the first time I'd ever heard her, and despite being new to Jazz, she became my favourite lady artist and remains so to this day. Also through her I became acquainted with so many more wonderful musicians.

I saw Betty give 2 scintillating sets back in December of 93 at the Catalina Bar & Grill in Hollywood, CA.....the first and only time I would see her perform, what a blessing.

Best solo i have ever heard cut by Branford - nice tone/reverb from booth as often on Tonight Show dating to Carson days. Leno actually noticed - and my mind is blown - Betty doing her bandleading - the key to the whole deal! Betty has no horn and carries no chart. the act exists in her head and lungs when she walks on.As always she is evidence of US culture and kindness at its best. And a newsy interview guest too

Great to see her on TV. Great performance. She mentioned Roy Hargrove had also been on the show. Wish we'd see a lot more of a wide range of good music on these talk shows. Colbert started out having some and even Misty Copeland but don't think he's kept up with it.
