A very large black bird flew over me when I was visiting Danville IL back in 1988. I mean probably at least 15 foot wingspan. It flew over the top of me about 40 feet and blackened the whole sky. No noise. I had other people who were working with me saw it when it was a lot further away and they agreed it was huge!

We had those in Collinsville, IL, back in the 1970's. Hundreds of people witnessed them and believed it was one reason the Native Americans had long held the legend of these giant creatures. Something grabbed a kid and tried to carry him off; his mother saw his feet go by the window. He screamed and squirmed, and the thing dropped him. His life was extremely troubled after that, to say the least. (Edit: the Native American legend in that area is of the Piasa bird)

I am glad they don't run into Bigfoot or even some of the Wolfman, Thunderbird! They are scary, even though you want proof! Go backpacking 🎒yourself, you will either hear, see, or be touched by one of these mythical beings. In the Bible it does say beings will scare the people that will give them heart attacks or die of fright. I've been a backpacker, had Solo 3 day challenge 3 times. Sierras, Dealth Valley will give you a thrill. I have heard Bigfoot, and Thunderbird. You have to be out in the middle of nowhere where no one has explored. Go For It!! You won't be able to tell people what you have experienced! No one will believe you, but you will know. Isn't that all you need...The Truth!!

You shouldn't expect anything riveting or revolutionary from a program intended purely for entertainment. This is the format of all of them. It's hard to make a legitimate documentary on a subject that's impossible to scientifically prove, or based on few witnesses in a random section of rural America.

So cool! I went to Pennsylvania College of Technology & had an English professor Peter Dumanis who told us of this tale\ folklore of a large bird whose wingspan if standing in the middle of a backroad would reach to either side of the road. I’ve found this incredibly interesting since learning of it some 20 years ago & have always hoped to see one. I live in the country & I will keep an eye out for this bird & a Bigfoot as well.

@@julioalbertoherrera1339 ok douche. In the context of the area that's mentioned in the comments, I'm a native. I spent the majority of my life exploring it's wilds. If OP is talking about my area there are only a few large birds. Turkey vulture(or turkey buzzards as they're called here) are enormous and often spotted on the road. Shove your condescending explanation and save it for someone who doesn't live here. I don't care about transplant college professors who with a french name(that isn't one of the very few french last names from here) who aren't from here telling fairy tales about giant birds in my well known well explored home area. Frenchy probably saw a turkey buzzard and got excited. The largest I've ever seen was eating a carcass near Jacoby Falls. Enormous.

What I understood, based upon legend, was that this was a pterodactyl type creature and it was named the ‘thunder bird’ because it always came with the thunder and lightning lending credence to the idea that it is in fact a Pterodactyl type creature since it was riding the thermal draft caused by the storm.

Argentinian researchers have identified an enormous toothy ancestor of modern sea birds which would have dwarfed the largest bird alive, the albatross (pictured). Discovered in Antarctica, it is part of an extinct family of enormous sea birds called the Pelagornithids, and had a wingspan of more than 6.4 meters (21 feet)

The bird whom arises before the rise of the sun is called "Aruna" in Bharatiya Itihaasa (Indian Historical texts). Shri Aruna Deva (God Aruna) is written in texts to be sibling of Garuda (God Vishnu's vaahan - mount). There is a story that when Vinata devi, Garuda and Aruna's mother and wife of great sage Kashyapa got boon of two eggs. One became the elder Garuda and the other took too long to hatch. Many years even after Garuda's birth, the latter egg never cracked. Hence losing patience, Shri Vinata Devi breaks the egg voluntarily to see a divine being, fully grown but with "half body" emerge from the egg. This was Aruna. His first half was human like and latter half shone brilliantly like a dazzling bright yellow. Aruna, who was an awakened being at birth becomes angry at his "half figure" and knowing his mother's impatience to have done so, he curses her that she will suffer under the wrath of her own family members (the Serpents under Manasa/Surasa) and leaves for Sun's abode (Surya Deva - Lord Sun himself). Aruna becomes God Surya's Charioteer and the famous picture of Aruna driving the chariot while the Sun God blesses the entire Earth, Solar System and Galaxy : 1. i.stack.imgur.com/87nQh.jpg 2. 3.bp.blogspot.com/_dmaTLXU-0aQ/S8DBzcJvcgI/AAAAAAAAAEk/axFxCz0VvKA/s1600/aruna.bmp Additionally it is said "divine birds" could assume a gigantic form then : 2.bp.blogspot.com/-JBNAllGwGTg/XLGg12mcKzI/AAAAAAAAEc0/e1BVVjsfwiM4Upp5PZn-mOEB0e-IWX-RwCLcBGAs/s1600/Sampati-the-ramayana.jpg (Above is a reference to the Vulture named "Sampati" who assumes the form to use his far vision 'vulture sight' to detect the place where Shri Sita Devi, Shri Rama's wife is captured and held up at - scene from the Epic Ramayana. The bald head Vulture is depicted as an eagle by mistake probably. ) No one knows how Aruna would look like in his Bird form. But this "Giant Bird" hypothesis, with Sun in background reminds me of him. Well these are just references from another part of the world and would be helpful if just taken as such for documentation and sightings. Aum Shri Surya Devaya Namaha 🙏 Jai Shri Aruna Devaya Namaha 🙏

i live in a mostly rural town and i feed the birds leftover foods for several years. i know when they are hungry or if they are fighting. moreso blackbirds/crows are the bosses. they caw loudly in the yard if they dont see food. 4 years or so ago, doing my usual kitchen duties, i was deep in thought, kept hearing the birds loudly, thought they were fighting. after a minute or so, i felt, well maybe they are upset because the voices were many and louder. so as i began to rise from my chair to look out the window, i witnessed....omg, a HUGE BALD EAGLE standing in the MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, with an adult squirrel sticking out each side of its bright yellow/orange beak. my heart was racing hard because there was a car stopped in the road, couldnt go through, and omg, this eagle THINGs head was taller than the hood of this sedan. the eagles body was wide. and since the squirrel was fighting for its life, the eagle, i think was trying to kill it before it took off. TOOK OFF..... THAT WAS IN SLOWWW MOTION because the eagle was sooo big that in order to get flight, it had to flap its wings and that was slow motion as well due to its size. the wing span of each wing was a minimum of 4 feet, if not longer. but it needed big wings just to get that heavy body off the ground. i now know the DANGER SIGNAL FROM THE BLACKBIRDS/CROWS. they were warning those around them. i feel so stupid that i didnt rise from my chair sooner. north yarmouth, maine

In Aug 2022, at the Allentown Walmart Supercenter parking lot, I saw a huge dark bird for about 8 seconds. It was about 8-10AM and overcast from a storm overnight. I was parked at the far end and had been awake for less than 30 minutes. I was starting my day and didn't have my glasses on yet (I have astigmatism which makes far away object blurry) when I glanced up and saw this huge dark bird-like figure slowly flapping it's long wings across the cloudy sky. My car was parked at the southern most end of the massive lot with my car pointing northeast. This creature flew under the clouds from Southeast heading Northwest until it crested over the treeline which was in front of me to the northeast flapping only a few times. The Big Lots and other store buildings obscured my line of sight plus I had no glasses so I couldn't see any fine detail of this incredible beast. What I did see clearly was it's silhouette. This thing was so big that I could clearly see it's outline despite my naked eyes. This creature had a figure that reminded me of a cross between a vulture and an eagle but with one extra key feature. This huge bird had a long single rectrice feather tail that streaked and flowed out behind it. I've seen Bald Eagles and Turkey Vultures up about the same height and those large birds were no comparison to what I saw that morning. Now that I've lived in Florida for several months I've already seen peacock on the road. Their rectrices are certainly long when bunched up but very bulky and clearly consists of many feathers. The huge bird I saw had one long feather flowing behind it that probably added an extra +50% to it's head to tail length. I couldn't make out any color or patters since my vision and the weather was poor. It was just all black. I did also clearly see it's long slow but powerful up and down wing flaps. It flapped only a handful of times, maybe 2 or 3, soaring most of the time. It wasn't until about 6 - 7 seconds I thought to get out of the car and look at it more clearly. By the time I got out of my car it had crested the treeline and went out of sight. I was so shocked by how large this bird was that I had forgotten to grab my glasses completely! I didn't want to start to fiddling with my phone to get it recording or I could loose sight of this thing and get a blurry image anyways. All I could do was gaze slack jawed at how big it was and trying to identify it. No heron, vulture, or eagle gets that freaking huge. I saw a large heron with a friend a few months prior as it basked in the summer sun on the Lehigh River near the Steel Stacks at Sand Island Park. It took flight shortly after being sighted. In Florida I see many other heron and Whooping Cranes as well. In flight, their long legs do not resemble the tail feather I saw on the huge bird. Shortly after the sighting I got to clearly see a Bald Eagle. None of the known large bird species in PA are able compare to this thing. If I had only glanced at it for a moment I would be willing to believe it was the rain drops on the windshield distorting my vision, an especially large eagle or vulture, or all of the above but I got a solid look long enough to clearly study it's form and features. Every time I see a large bird soaring above I check to see if it's actually A HUGE BIRD way up in the sky lol. It's almost daily that I think of it and I wonder what it meant that I got to see it in such a place.

I live in Colorado Springs, CO. One morning, 10 years ago, I was taking my small dog out to go potty and walked upon a HUGE TURKEY VULTURE. I stand 5ft 5in. That dang thing was more than 1/2 my height. It was on the ground 10 feet away from my door. I barely caught my dog before he tried to run up on the monster. The Bird was Jet Black and scary as hell !!! Neddless to say.....i quickly scooped up my dog and ran back inside my house....😨😱 Never seen a big bird up close like that.....scary.

You're about 1.65 meters tall, and the vulture you found was 76 cm tall. A condor is about 1.2 or 1.3 meters tall, the Andean condor is a little larger than the California condor.

I have heard of sightings near Coudersport, PA. I heard the sound of an enormous bird overhead in Avon, NY in April, 2010 in the dark at 2 AM. It went from one side of the village to the other and down the Genesee River valley in seconds fading away.

I grew up in Jersey and a prolific camper/outdoors person. The Pine Barrens and forests of Pennsy are some of my favorites. There are some very interesting electro-magnetic anomalies that have been measured scientifically in those areas. The Aboriginal Turtle Islanders (5-Iroquois Nations Confederacy and my other Eastern Woodland tribe ancestors - like the Ramapo and Moonachie) have a plethora of oral histories and traditions in regard to parallel dimensions, 'power' spots, gateways (wormholes), frequent Sasquatch and UAP sightings, disturbed sacred burial grounds and a myriad of 'para' normal incidents and activities. This one is a bedtime story compared to some of the stuff that has taken place up around there bro...Something to consider: the Western 'civilization's usurpers and appropriators who came to Turtle Island, completely disregarded (and still do) the warnings of the Aboriginal shamans, medicine people and Tribal leaders in regard to disturbing and destroying their burial grounds, mound cities and sacred/power places (they even built churches on top of desecrated temple sites). There is a plethora of rock art, bas reliefs and cave paintings; a myriad of coded architecture and various oral history (and in many cases written) indicating the binding, casting out and/or protection of various geological sites, cemeteries, temples and etc. Yet these arrogant and ignorant (=Savagery) trespassers disrespected and disregarded the information, given to them in Kindness and sincerity, for protecting and maintaining the connections with Creator, Sophia and Ghaia. Many ancestors lost their Lives attempting to defend these precious relationships. The results have been devastating: portals and gateways have been reopened and the veil ripped from the domino effect with a variety of paranormal and magnetic anomalies, cryptids and space-time disparity. 'Skinwalker Ranch' is one of the best examples of what happens when you are clueless, indifferent and judge other civilizations as inferior because they are different from yours. The same psychotic greed, arbitrarily justified by using cultural bias, was leveled upon Aboriginal/Indigenous people all over the World; yielding the same outcomes on *every* level. It is time to awaken from the Western (American) colonial Dreaming and grow up into being Cosmic Citizens. Speak with the elders; have them employ their ageless wisdom so that this can be placed back into balance. Ha Ho and Ase'!!! ______________________________________________________________

Why would someone tell a bird expert.. ?? He seemed so confident, that if there was such a bird he would know.!! Like sitting behind a desk he's gonna for sure have a sighting... Nobody wants to tell someone like that, why would they?? he already knows it don't exist.. I'm sorry i just can't stand people like that.. He automatically says it's a myth, basically calling everyone that has seen it a liar.... He needs to just stay inside at his desk.. Lol. How does people expect to see anything inside a building?? I just don't believe in calling people liars.. Just because you haven't had the opportunity to see it doesn't mean it's not there.. People needs to stop making fun and laughing... You don't always have time or think to pick your phone up and video it... Why not just kill one so people will believe... I think not.. I'd say people will hate you if you shoot and kill a thunderbird or a bigfoot... He believes in it is an aliens but not a bird that people sees all the time.. I like this show but boy do you guys find some smarty pants skeptics.. Ewww I just can't stand know it all's.

More to the point, I and 2 others saw one on Pine Creek between Renovo and Lockhaven in the mid-70's. I was going to take the camera, but the bank down to go fishing was very steep. Very clear, close sighting; compared to size of the trees it finally flew over with only a few flaps of the huge wings, it would of been between 20-25 ft. In the lore and literature of the time, the thunderbird was prominent in the north central part of PA, Potter County, Clinton, etc. Yet, though I am a regional historian here and I live on the border of Westmoreland and Fayette counties, hadn't heard much about this localized phenomena until 95' or later, mostly near Greensburg as the documentary states correctly. Those sighting reports really surprised me.

I seen a giant bird back in the 80s in Shelbyville Indiana along the blue River. The bird was so big standing on an Island I thought it was a tree shaped like a bird that grew up on the island till I slipped on some rocks in the water while fishing. The head did a 180 and looked at us. Long story short we got out of the water to sneak up on it. We got within 20 yards and stared at it for a minute or so. Looked like a giant bat with long skinny legs. Head was creepy. Looked like something out of a Hollywood movie. They most definitely exist.

Real Thunderbirds would not catch a small dog, that sounds more like an owl, or eagle. True Thunderbirds are so large that they would more likely catch a full size large dog, sheep, baby horses (and the like) , and children. I live in New Mexico Thunderbirds are a real creature, stories from Native Americans have acient stories of Thunderbird attacks, and battles. Its scary to think that my daughter could be picked up and flown away to be shredded and fed on. Its a horrific animal from hell.

We have giant birds here in.Australia , pre historic size ones. .In the late 1970's my brother , cousin and I were 10, 11 and 13 and we got chased by one across a big open park at night it was huge , big wingspan like a small plane and only about 10 metres above us. It chased us about 100 metres tiill we got home at the end of the park . We told our parents who were having a bbq , one uncle said it chased us because we were playing with fire near the bbq earlier , I beleive it was warning us to stay away from a certain place or don't do what you were intending to do. As Indigenous Australians we are very spiritual people and believe in these signs from the spirit world. We are in our 50's now but my brother and cousin and I still talk about the time the giant bird chased us home.
