I tried both & kept the T1 over the 1990. The comfort was a huge factor, really disliked the clamp on the DT. T1 on the other hand is one of the best fitting headphones I've ever worn.

Picked up the T1 v2 and these are on another level for gaming (Siege, PUBG, BFV, Apex, COD). I have always struggled identifying enemies in Siege for example. Not any more. It's like a light switch was flipped. I have quite a few cans and lately been playing a lot of games with HD660S due to its excellent imaging however it was lacking in sound stage so I'd end up grabbing my Philips SHP9500 which was lacking in imaging. The T1 V2 just blows my mind in terms of imaging and soundstage.

Had DT770 pro's for six years, finally felt need for an upgrade. Read many articles about HD800/800s, T1, DT1990 and DT1770. Also in process I happened to stumble across your channel. Excellent videos and I like your narrative style. Keep it up! Also based upon your review and many other articles, I purchased the DT1770 pro's. I like to keep loudly arguing neighbors and my dishwasher out of the listening experience. Oh, one last thing: that face/eye tracking of the camera that you use seems to zigzag fairly often, losing focus slightly and then quickly correcting itself. Doesn't really distract that much, but as an amateur photographer I can't help but to notice it. Otherwise, cheers!

I've had my T1s for about six weeks now and I absolutely love them! They are the best headphones I've owned. I think my preferences are different from yours a little. However I think I'd hugely enjoy listening to music with the DT1990 headphones. I have a number of other headphones I've picked up over the years. I listen to classical (mostly contemporary) and jazz. I do like quality bass but I don't want a lot of bass so the T1s are good for me. Occasionally I listen to dance music and reggae from the 80s and 90s, when I was a raver myself 😀and for that I use a pair of AKG K550s which have a lot of bass. Also they don't have anything like the detail which is a good thing for that dance music as it was never created for playing through highly resolving systems. I had a few issues with the T1s at the beginning. When they were brand new the bass was actually a bit "sludgy" sometimes and the treble could be a bit too much. However both of these have resolved over time. The biggest problem was actually the level of clamp which initially made them uncomfortable however that has decreased over time and now I find them very good to wear.
@IsomerSoma3 жыл бұрын
"dance music as it was never created for playing through highly resolving systems" some modern "dance music" or better electronic music which is danceable, but not strictly dance music only has actually a lot of detail. Example: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kKfMZX2PoreLsKs Modern electronic music doesnt compares to the 80/90 music. Its range is much broader. Tech and skill have increased.

I've both headphones, cause I'm a beyerdynamic fan. But unlike joshua I prefer the t1 over any other headphone that I tried so far, except maybe stax cause I like the l700 as much as I like the t1. It's a bit harsh in the treble department yes, but that also depends on the music you listen to and the amplifier or dac used with the headphones. The RME dac sounds killer with the t1 it's just out of this world. The t1 do tend to sound harsher and lighter in the bass when not powered by a powerful amp, it's an annoying problem cause you must use a desktop solution for the t1, but the results do entirely worth it. The dt1990 is more consistent in my opinion, they don't change much from an amp to amp or a dac to a dac, just an incremental increase in detail the more high quality you feed it. The dt 1990 is easier to live with, but the t1 with the right components has nearly no match in my opinion.

Thank you so much for this comparison! But, now I'm conflicted... For gaming: HD800(not S) or T1 Gen2? Obviously, you said the HD800 is better for gaming (mostly because of soundstage shape), but we're talking about buying used from eBay for a headphone that is going to be 2-6 years old. Hi, I am trying to decide between T1 and DT1990, I have an OTL amp which leaves me with only high impedance headphones. I already have a HD6xx for vocal and pop musics. I occasionally listen to classical and jazz and that's where I can't decide between T1 and DT1990. The main difference that I can notice is the soundstage(further instrumental sound appears to be more converged on the DT1990, idk if that's the definition of soundstage). Soundstage wise, T1 would impress me in certain songs as well as it does on the DT1990. But T1 is more relaxed to listen than the DT1990 on the Jazz and classical. It almost seems like I can do-it-all with T1 and the HD6xx. However, both of them don't do the bass so well and I love the bass on the DT1990. Should I keep the DT1990 and let go of T1 or the other way around? or are there any headphones that have the vocal intimacy of the HD600 while doing good with the bass?

@KojiCO-ConvinceM3 жыл бұрын
Odd this video was thrown at me when testing the t1. The t1 is extremely amp dependent, the fact that you Hird less bace was most likely down to the power delivery of the amp, and as volume is increased, treble tend to rise first. So if there is not enough of a current to drive the headphones everything goes out of whack. I've owned both and depending on amp and dac a lot of the problems you had can be mitigated. A warm amp or a warm DAC for e.g. currently the a90 with the DAC from a HDVD is working very well here but yes they are bright, both of them.

They sound almost the same but T1 have wider soundstage, more bass, smother highs and it is less analytical than DT 1990. For games T1 v2 is just better option. For music I pick T1 but for mixing DT 1990 is little bit better but too lean in the bass. T1 v2 with original pads is not that great too much V shape sound. With EDT1990VB pads sound is more open and balanced but difference is not huge. DT 1990 have this 10khz peak it is bad in games but helps with studio work. T1 v2 is just better headphone more refined highs and wider soundstage and with EDT1990VB pads T1 v2 for me is better than Hifiman Ananda and HE-1000v2 also cheaper. If you want T1 v2 sound you can apply EDT1990VA or EDT1990VB pads to your DT 990's and you will get almost the same sound for 1/4 price. What iem were you holding at the end of this video?
@bigyeetus28665 жыл бұрын
Man you realize that saying you're "treble sensitive" when your daily driver is the dt 1990 is just perplexing to just about everyone. If you can handle the dt 1990 without significant EQ and you're listening at like at least 70-75dBA you're not treble sensitive. Treble sensitive people can't really handle any beyers without EQ

T1 honesty hurt my brain when listening to it. It is extremely harsh on the highs. Super narrow, and super detailed. Not a fun listening.

What did you use to drive them? I absolutely adore my T1 + Chord Mojo combo. Looking to get the A2 or a nice tube amp for more power and control. It could also be a case of needing to burn them in.

Are you sure the DT 1990 is not a sibilant headphone? Every 's' is piercing through my ears.
@Thee_Jadex2 жыл бұрын
Diffrent strokes for diffrent folks as they say, might want to make sure you have a competent dac to make sure you get a clean S not a harsh one (i use the Modi 3E) but still it may just be your sensitive to pitch like that which is totally understandable, alot of people are. If your really worried you can get a tube amp too and thatle clear off alot of potential sibilance at the cost of clarity and critical listening which kind of goes against the point of the 1990 but hey who cares can always get a solid state another time if you need it

The t1 is harder to get bass out of but if you've never heard a t1 out of a wa22 you cant say it doesn't have bass lol. The t1 bass when driven proper is one of the best basses you'll ever hear

@@Baphometus666 thanks mate, watched his review and felt that he was overly critical of the 8.5K peak. I still feel Josh's review would be a bit more even-handed than resolve's review.

Listen to a classical music piece and you will appreciate the sound profile. The open treble shows off in this case.

@@IsomerSoma i appreciate linearity. I simply dont like excessive sibilance. Open treble and exagherated 6-10k like in the beyer`s are two different things. Btw what is "classical piece" ? is it a piece of food? Is it a flower?

@@IsomerSoma It was a joke. I have heard classical music and i also know what a chord is and also what Forte means and probably have listened to a few thousands of hours of classical music in my life..... I just dont understand how i am saying that i find a device "non linear" sounding and someone basically answers (in this case you) "you have to listen to the right music". Its nothing personal. Just me thinking out loud. Its amazing what kind of missunderstandings happen on the net is my conclusion

I think T1 is especially great for classical music. Bass boost isnt important for that and can even be bad. The stage is more important here.

I somewhat agree the T1 is a poorman's HD800 lol. I would call them the German twins, one is abit more popular than the other.
