Before I watch I’ll just say that I appreciate you and the space you’ve created for this conversation. Hearing Bey on this tour has been really inspiring because I got the sense that she is fully aligned with the present moment and knows how to embrace & work with the changes in her voice. To me that’s not only a lesson for singing, but a lesson for life. Change is a constant on this Earth and our bodies are not machines. Beyoncé even said that herself in the film. I believe a major part of her ethos involves maintaining her humanity while the world consistently tries to immortalize her. Although I believe as a brand, as a Virgo and an insanely hard working, talented Capitalist she knows how to play into the ways we idealize her lolol but can you blame her? She is a master at world-building. She is truly an icon, and I don’t use that world lightly. I appreciate the younger, more light soprano Beyoncé who was singing circles around melodies all the damn time lol - AND I appreciate the seasoned, wise, experienced, refined, and powerfully warm singer and all around astronomical force that she is today. I’m grateful she even continues to deal with the public because at this point she could easily just go chill and love on her family - but she put herself out there. Yes making more money but I doubt it’s about that at this point. She’s created such a cultural movement for us especially after a time of us all being separated for so long ❤️

Lol @ "capitalist". Y'all learn a new word on the Internet and just constantly throw it around completely out of context. Not even understanding the true history or background of anything, but because it's become a popular word on social media. Also, there's no need to mention that she's making more money--she deserves to because she has earned it all. She has worked for it all. You make money when you work and no 1 makes a point of it so let's not.do that to her. I hope her and his husband continue to make more money and become gazillionaires. They deserve every blessing coming their way.

@@joynay444 Please don’t speak as if you know who I am by insinuating that I just learned the world “capitalism” You can critique without insulting someone’s intelligence. I did not do that to anyone and I aim to speak kindly. Why be mean? Whether we mention the money or not, it’s literally a fact. I NEVER said she doesn’t “deserve” what she has. When Star gave birth & lost her vocal ability her career was about to end until she took a steroid to get it back (not sure if thats used in reality or for dramatical purposes of the show) but ever since I saw that episode & saw how other female artists voices changed it brought me to that. So glad you brought this series back! This video was so informative and interesting. Bey has navigated the changes in her voice with such grace. I’ve seen a lot of people say that they this miss Bey’s old style of singing. But it’s natural for women’s voices to change. Just because it’s not as pronounced as men’s voice changes doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. We need to give women more grace. I love both Bey’s younger and more mature voice equally. It’s better that she’s adapting her music to suit her new voice than pushing her voice outside its comfortable range. Her lower range is to die for and her head voice is chef’s kiss.

do you think she'll be a contralto in older age? I can see a few popular mezzos heading down that path especially if their voice drops or changes due to things like childbirth, medical conditions, hormonal flux, etc. edit: the E5 belt comparisons are such a great moment of vocal comparison in my opinion. the difference is really audible. in the earlier years the note its brighter, more nasal, and slightly quieter. currently, the note is almost entirely chest, and has more clarity and volume though you can tell it takes more for the voice to go that high than before. I notice many heavier mezzos like Dua Lipa, Miley, and current Beyonce tend to have a somewhat shouty/yelly tone once the voice reaches around D5, which I personally LOVE and think it sounds so good on them. I can't wait to hear how her voice continues to change and how beyonce navigates it with growing wisdom, age, and experience.
