Another great off-trail hike. Stunning views. You're right flat trails are boring. If you want a relative flat and then off-trail, do trail 105 from Tortilla Ranch Trailhead, north off-trail on Peter's Mesa. Then climb up the Southeast side of Malapaise Mtn. and back to the trailhead via Tortilla Creek. Smooth hiking with the climbing you like and back down the creek. I did this hike quite a few years ago. So beautiful, lonely and peaceful area. One of the Best day hikes you can do. Once again, your narration and camera views are so fun for us out here in KZbin Land. Thanks....

One of my favorite spots to take a snack break is under an arch around where you were pointing to at the balanced rock. 🤫 There is a light use trail but it’s hard to find if you’ve never done it. Starts lower in the main canyon and traverses up. You can bush wack up to it as well. You can see the arch if you look closely but it arches towards you so it’s a little hard to see from down below. It’s a special spot and I usually don’t bring it up because I like to enjoy my snack alone 😂. But, if you’re up that way again you can look for it.

I got stuck in a pre-monsoon wind storm in a cholla field had cholla needles pierced through my jeep canvas looked like a damn porcupine.

Those needles are monsters to pull out! They're the whole reason I carry needle nose pliers on all my hikes: learned that lesson the hard way!😂
