It's not a game yet... it looks like they are just using some downgraded models that were used in the CGI trailer. Same with the environment. I doubt they have much more than the tech at this point.

The thing is that Fable was just Peter Molyneux talking bollocks about stuff they hadn't developed and couldn't develop. Whereas Ancel and his team have actually done the hard bit and made the engine and implemented those ambitious ideas. Now they just need to build the game on top of it.

Seems very ambitious. The idea of traveling long stretches of terrain (or space for that matter) in a very short amount of time with no loading is very interesting to me. And seeing that ringed planet interact with the terrain on another planet is another very cool idea. I hope to see more cool ideas of this very natural set of worlds being influenced by each other be brought together. One thing I am worried about is that with all these giant open world games a lot of them tend to neglect a lot of interactions with characters/npcs, having strong narrative, and having cities and worlds that aren't fully explored or fleshed out. So I hope that the developers don't go overboard with just trying to create an impressive sense of scale and try to find a good balance.

I have a bit of a confession. I am a grown boy. You know. In my 20's. And I kid you not, I shed a tear watching the CG trailer. For the past 9 or so years, each E3, when Ubisoft was building up for their final game, I would always pray "Let it be BGE2 this year." And Always I would be disappointed. And seeing it on stage now, finally, after so many years... I was awestruck. So kudos to you, development team, for sticking with it, and going on stage and showing the product of years and years of blood, sweat and tears. And if this demo is anything to go by, you are developing something that will finally give us what games like No Man's Sky and others have been trying to sell us on. Fingers crossed, and may your years of toil pay off soon.

Actually, the game did start development only by the end of last year. The original iteration of Beyond Good and Evil 2 you saw in 2009 got cancelled due to technology not being advanced enough for what Michel was trying to do (or Ubisoft's corporate meddling bullshit they like to do could have done it in as well). Hope that clears that up, since S'Arais was too incapable of speaking without using memes.

Big Beyond Good & Evil fan here. Played and loved it upon release on my good old GameCube! This is evolving into something I never dreamed possible in a sequel to that first beloved but underrated and criminally undersold game. This has been my most anticipated game since before we ever knew it was coming, when it was just a gleaming kernel of hope resting anxiously in my heart. With the King's Quest revival a few years ago, Tales of Monkey Island from Tell Tale further back (R.I.P. Tell Tale) and the FF7 remake imminent, I think all I need is a sequel to Eternal Darkness and this, and I can die a happy gamer. (Ok, I really want a big budget FF6 remake and a sequel to Faxanadu too but less likely.) Thanks for never giving up the dream Michel! We are rooting for you!!!

Honestly, I saw more than a thing that reminded me of the first game. For example, when you leave Hyllis/Land on the moon in BGE1, back then space was actually REALLY little and no matter where you were pointing at on the moon it'd always land you on the same base. Now this kind of tech would allow them to do much more ambitious (and realistic) things.

Wrong. Without the technology you can't have the game. BG&E1 was actually a very scaled-down version of the game they wanted to make because they found that the technology was too limiting. BG&E1 is awesome but you can tell it was limited. Now the technological capacity exists, Ancel and his team will be able to make the epic game that they originally wanted to. They haven't made it yet. You're criticising a tech demo for not being the finished game. You're just massively missing the point and getting confused about what's being shown here. I'm sure the story and characters will be great, it certainly looks that way from the trailer and concept art. But they will be developed and shown later.

If it comes out in the next 3 or 4 years, then yes. i think they would defiantly be able to manage to release it with this kind of open gameplay.. But if it comes out in like 1-2 years.. then i highly doubt it, and there will be some serious corner cutting. And i somehow doubt Ubisoft is putting in the same level of funding as Star Citizen has, so that also leves some doubt on how much longer they will keep on developing this. Hilariously, Star Citizen will probably come out before this. As it's about 2-3 years from full release in my estimates. Tho it will release it's first chapter of the single player campaign within a year from now. Also really risky for them to show off early footage like this. As it can come back and backfire really badly on them later if they had to cut down on things. *cough* Todd Howard *cough* Radiant AI *cough*

Electric Skeleton Theyre probably making this game for new audiences to introduce them to the old one so that when they finally make the continuation of Jades story it will actually sell well. They're probably going to answer all the unanswered questions we have about Jade and her family and at the end of the story of this game introduce us to her again as a protagonists daughter or something so that people will be interested in a sequel to Jades story. Makes sense to me. Why make the direct sequel if no one is going to buy it? Makes alot more sense to make this game to introduce the world to new people and learn everything they can about what people will want in a sequel ganeplaywise before making a final game for Jade. It'll probably be how this director is planning to end his career as well with BGE3

I don't know about Zelda but Minecraft's rendering engine is pretty trash. There's much more of the engine's performance in the hands of the developers than you might think, and no high-end GPU in the world can save you from a crappy rendering programming job

haha you got no cleu about hardware men. This is probably running on 23tflop of gpu power, switch only has like 0,3. This is never ever coming to the switch its impossible. Not only that the CPU power isn't there like at all.

The spaceships gameplay seems so great, I loved the adrenaline feeling that we have during speed increasing ! And the effect of the crashing meteor would be so impressive all of a sudden, during a live session 😃

I, as many of us watching the video(I guess), am a huge fan of Mr. Ancel's work; so much that Rayman 2 was the first game I finished; the ability both him and his team to create impressive worlds is something that inspired me to become an animator. I shed a tear when I saw the trailer for BG&E2, and another after I saw Mr. Ancel crying because the game was actually in developement. And despite all of this... I'm scared. Scared of getting extremely hyped for videos like this one. Scared for playing the game and remember when some of the stuff on this video doesn't even exist in the final product. Scared of being disappointed for being hyped. I really hope that you can get everything you wanted on this project Michel, and I hope I enjoy playing it as much as you and your team enjoyed creating it.
